Charity Styles is a world class sharpshooter, martial arts expert, and government assassin... but after a stressful assignment, all she wants is a little time to unwind on the quiet side of St. Thomas, the picturesque Magens Bay. What does she get? A hurricane, an ex, drug dealers, a psychotic murderer, an amorous developer, and forced to stay in the rowdy tourist town of Charlotte-Amalie. Naturally. By the time she sails Wind Dancer back to her beloved Magens Beach, a storm is brewing that threatens to displace her again, but this is a man-made storm and Charity has had all she can take. She's stressed and reckless and not even her friends can hold her in check as she takes on a fight that could change her future and the future of those she cares for.
I'm a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and now, a full time novelist. Between those careers, I've also worked as a deckhand, commercial fisherman, divemaster, taxi driver, construction manager, and truck driver. I live in the Sea Islands, near Beaufort, SC, with my wife and youngest daughter. We also have three grown children, five grand children, three dogs and a whole flock of parakeets. I grew up in Melbourne, FL and have also lived in the Florida Keys and Cozumel, MX.
Charity is on a break from her last mission, when she runs into an old acquaintance, Victor, an ex-CIA operative. They catch up on old times and old feelings. Charity gets orders from DHS to "Stand down and come home. It's over." Meanwhile, they stumble onto a Jamaican drug gang trying to force the islanders to pay protection money when they burn out one of the Tiki bars. Charity and Victor decide to put a stop to that and the fight is on. Forget going home right now. The action is swift and quick and deadly. Turns out they've encountered a land grabber who's using the Jamaican gang to achieve his land grab by force or with a cheap buy out and increase Walker's share including the drug money laundering business he's involved in. Read on to fully understand why she's called "Reckless!". Thanks for another great read.
These novels offer enough insight to the past, so if you are reading it first you're not missing anything, and if you're reading these in the order they were written, it's nice just to jog your memory, without slowing you down, These novels are a pleasure to read, technical enough to provide some realism, but not to much that you need a degree to appreciate, Now the wait for the next intriguing adventure for Miss Charity and her friends.
'Reckless Charity' was such a great addition to an awesome series. I really enjoyed this book. The story line pulled me in from the start and didn't let go. Full of action, suspense, thrilling scenarios and kick-ass characters. Charity is always a great lead. She's a bad-ass, she's very creative when she needs to be and her beliefs seem to be pointed in the right direction. Victor is a great character. I'm glad he's in this book with Charity. They make such a killer combo. I can't wait to read the next book. A must add to your tbr list.
Quick as the action which regularly deemed to burst forth. New characters added to the story brought their personalities into play. Never a dull moment, except for the mushy stuff. But Charity needs a diversion now and then. And she does show a bit of recklessness from time to time.
While Charity is on ‘holiday’ there are things happen back in the USA that will affect her future. The problem with the two tenuously linked stories is that it makes the book feel disjointed. The second half of the book has more action, but some of it was a bit ridiculous with several inconsistencies. If possible I would have given 2.5 stars.
Wayne Stinnett has me hooked. His character development and knowledge of sailing and service are a great combination. So far each book has been better than the last and I can't say that about some of the series I've read recently. Keep on bringing these great stories and thank you sir for your service!
I have enjoyed most of his previous work's. This one was good, but as sometimes happens, the good characters seemed to perform well beyond normal capabilities.
Really good job of weaving the Jesse McDermott series with the Charity Styles series
Action packed, moving swiftly through the Carribean, finding trouble, defending the good guys and kicking butt. Adventures galore and fun, if improbable, heroes. Recommended.
Stinnett has a way of keeping a story moving. He doesy leave time to become bored with the story line. This continuation of the Jesse McDermott /Charity Styles saga is another enjoyable read
Charity struggles between maintaining a low profile to protect her cover and the desire to help the underdogs.
Action, amor, intrigue and location, all wrapped together into a tightly written story that you won't want to put down. Charity doesn't disappoint and neither does Wayne.
From popular author Wayne Stinnett comes another captivating and well-written story. It's fast moving and action packed. There's a big surprise, so read it to the end! Highly recommend.
Will this be the end of her top - secret missions? "It's over." the cryptic message from her handler had said. But first, there were bullies she had to deal with, and we all know how she feels about bullies! I really liked this one.
Not an intricate plot good read though…I’m farther ahead on the Jesse McDermitt series so kind of knew what was coming, story seemed to end short for me? Will continue to read both!
It’s like i go from one atio9n filled book to another cannot complain would like to see charity a little more its always heart beat away when she is operating ciao from Bobbie Anne and i Jorge from Costa Rica
Book #3 isn’t as involved as some of her other episodes but apparently even a month of vacation turns out to be a lot of dead bodies and destroyed houses and boats.
A very good concluding book in this series. Lots of action, love, and mystery. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves a good fast moving adventure.
