A mother’s plea, a childless alien’s promise, and a Preor warrior torn between his mate and duty…
After a hundred years of mating, Healing Master Chashan thought he knew all there was to know about his mate, Heart Master Khaza. But the sudden presence of one adorable human baby shows him that he’s very, very wrong.
Now he has a choice: claim a human baby as his own and put joy in his mate’s heart, or turn the child over to human authorities.
Which will he choose? Honor or love?
This short story is set in the DRAGONS OF PREOR world and is a little bite of family life for those who fell in love with the Preor dragons.
Part of the "Dragons of Preor" series: Jarek Taulan Kozav Rendan Zadri Hatched Ivoth Brukr A Baby for Chashan
A Baby for Chashan is book nine in the Dragons of Preor series by Celia Kyle as Erin Tate.
Here we see the Healing Master Chashan and his mate the Heart Master Khaza. These two have been trying to have children for a long time, but with no luck and with Preor women only coming into their cycle on rare occasions, not like humans, it’s been hard, more so for Khaza who really wants a child of her own.
Their isn’t much background to the characters. We see them in the main series. In this short story we see them take in a human child that is not of their blood and love it as if it where their own child. We also see that humans with the right incentive will give up their own flesh and blood.
A Baby for Chashan is a short story, but also a sweet one. For me it was a little to short, so just an ok read.
To say this is short is oversimplified because I read this glimpse into the Preor world in about an hour. That having been said it was lovely to catch up with Healing Master Chashan as he's been present and indeed vital in so many previous stories. Now we learn of his love for his mate Khaza and the sadness that haunts them as they are still after all these years without Dragonlets of their own . Khaza is no ordinary Preor though she's what they call a Heart Master which means she feels the emotions that can cripple many and her only thoughts are to help soothe so when she senses Erica a human female in unbearable pain she doesn't hesitate but her actions have consequences ! This is short admittedly so there isn't any background surrounding the woman that Khaza seeks to help. However I thought this story was primarily a devise to show the warmer side of Chashan and in that it worked brilliantly . I loved that the author slyly incorporated the infamous twins and whilst not exactly present we do learn that they are still causing their parents to no doubt tear their hair out at times! There is something I didn't like and that's the actions of Ericas relative but as it allowed for a happy and very smelly ending I'm ok with it. This is one definitely for the fans of the Preor filled with warmth, humour and of course love! This voluntary review is my honest opinion
This book is super short, but the author kept it moving and we were able to read about an already mated pair as they realized their dreams. The author brought something good out of something so terrible. I really enjoyed this book and am so glad these two reached their HEA. I’m looking forward to the next book.
The only thing I didn´t like about this book is that it was too short! I know, I know, it´s a short story.... I could feel Khaza´s and Chashan´s crave for a dragonlet, and even though it was sad the way they got Eric, it was beautiful to know that they were at the beginning of a whole different life, taking care of the baby they had prayed for for so long. It´s a message of hope for many people in real life: if you have love to give, it shouldn´t matter if the baby comes from your own womb or not.
This was a good story however, it needed to be longer. More developed character would have been nice. I would have liked more background on the mother and aunt.
Kind of a bittersweet story. The mom dies but the baby is saved. You can tell from the title where the baby finds a loving home. Just was a little sad with his mom.
Ok, I’m not knocking this book I’m not I swear. Let me start by saying its short I mean it says so right there. So I’ve picked up the series on and off for a few years now and I thought why not. Humm what to say I’m at a loss for words. Light bulb I got it by George soooo this book was good I feel it needed more but if you missed it in the beginning its short. I feel it could have used some more filler. Like a bit more fight from the humans (LOL I laugh at my own jokes). It could have a little bit of dramatics between Khaza and Chashan after the baby is born. But Khaza on the hunt in the start of the book is awesome. And the understanding Chashan has for Khaza’s needs as well as the devotion to the baby was good. I gave it 2 ⭐️’s because it could have used a little more development. But that’s me. Now, to all you lovely folks that has made it this far in my small well meaning rant. I apologize for me poor grammar.
Healing Master Chashan has been with his wife Heart Master Khaza for over a hundred years but she is still able to surprise him. That is exactly what she does when she finds a pregnant woman in trouble outside of the Preor Tower - she promises to care for the child if the worst happens. Now Chasan has to make a choice - claim the human baby as his own and put joy in his childless mate's heart or turn the child over to the human authorities. What will be his choice - honour or love?
This was a sweet novella which gave you no background on the characters so cannot be read as a stand-alone story unless you take some things on trust. I loved the way that they cared for the child and the way Khaza was very clearly determined to keep the child - something that I could not see Chashan denying. Easy to read and enjoy. Contains a little explicit sexual content.
Brilliant written novella about a Dragon shifter female from another world who is an empath and also, from a planet where fertility does not come as often as with the human female.
The author explores, through this novella, the deep feelings and emotions felt by wishful couples who have yet to experiment the joys associated with child making, bearing and birthing and, while they wait, a curve ball is thrown their way in the birth of a child by a female of a different species with the mother making her dying wish known at the exact moment the baby emits his first cry that grips the alien mother's heart.
A short story prelude to a series that I look forward to reading just for the magic of it. I recommend this book and rate it 5 Stars.
Oh man. Khaza and Chashan are finally getting their chance to start a family. It might not be in the most conventional way, but one does what one has to do to make things happen, right?
Only...things aren't as easy as just starting a family. There's some convincing that needs to be done. While Khaza knows exactly what she needs to do, Chashan needs a wee bit of encouragement to see things her way.
Just a little bit, though. You know, because those Preor are all about making sure their mates are happy.
This is book #9 of the Dragons of Preor. I'm not sure how this one made it in because it was so short that it didn't have any conflict. Human has a baby and after he is delivered she dies. Chashan wife, Kahza agrees to take care of the baby from mother without telling her husband. She finally tells him and he gets them to let her keep the baby. End of story. LOL I mean literally! It was that short. I kept looking for more but that was it. Hopefully we will get more on the other 2 males he still need a mate. LOL
I've yet to come across a Celia Kyle/Erin Tate book that was bad. This wasn't one of my favourites, but it was still a fun short read. It's one of these little extra (and cheap) stories that get thrown in from time to time between the main books. As you can guess from the title, we're talking babies. For me, I would much prefer more time with the Preor warriors trying to cope with their human mates. I find them hilarious. Still, it was a fun read and will keep me going until the next instalment.
This is not the type of story I expected this author to write as I was bored the entire time.
In this tale, a pregnant human dies on Preor land while in labor, the dragon couple asks to keep the baby because they promised a duressed dying mother they would, the end. There are no details to endear you to the baby or new parents characters.
The beginning blurb makes you think the story is about a struggle: adopted parents' struggle; the struggle of human vs alien law; the struggle to love a different species; the struggle of becoming new parents; the struggle between a male and female as they learn to adjust to having a child... any and all of these sound like an exciting possibility with that book description! But ...there is zero struggle. Chashan petitions the human court for guardianship and they are instantly granted the rights to becoming parents, no struggle, doubt or hesitation at all.
BORING!
The book description says 46 pages but it's closer to 30 pages of story and 16 of ad filler, much like the words that occupy the aforementioned 30 pages. You learn nothing new about Dragos or their lifestyle and I think I'd have been happier with the series if I had never read this piece at all.
This is the second reading of the series to refresh my memory and read the last few that hadn’t been written yet. By far my favorite book. As a mature woman now; and am on the Grandmother side of the joy children bring. Only able to have just my one; my husband and I desperately tried for years to conceive again. Seven years later two very little brothers needed a forever Mommy and Daddy opening up another door to now 5 children and a few who just became family. This story had to have been written with first or second hand knowledge of the real pain.
This is a very short story. It was ok but do wish there was a little more to the story. Hated to see it end so quick, and quick it was. Typical story of a mated pair of Preor race with no baby in sight. They get the chance to adopt a human baby as the mother of the baby died in childbirth. Was sad for the mother but was great that she was able to make a mated pair of Preor race happy with finally a child of their own. Recommend.
Kindle unlimited purchase By Celia Kyle Chashan and his mate, Khaza, have been together for 100 years and the one thing they have wanted is a dragonlet. This book is so short this review is longer than the book. What is there was great? Just wish it was as long as the other books in the series. Sorry that the series is coming to an end. I love the covers of these books.
We have seen a lot of Chastain as he had been involved in healing injuries inflicted on other Preor characters as well as their mates. In this very short story he and his wife of 100 years become parents to a human baby much to their joy, no real drama just a nice short read.
I loved this story. It truly pulled at my heartstrings. This has become another of my favorite series and I seriously hope to see more, yes I kinda got a few that could have there own stories but still. Awesome job Celia can't wait for the next. And yes I highly recommend this story especially if you read the rest of the series.
I have read the complete series ofFside Alien Weredragons and loved each one! Wonderful storylines and great characters. I found it difficult to stop reading and tended to binge read book after book! Highly recommend to everyone who likes alien/human love stories.
I love this series and would like to see more. This doesn't have as much action and adventure as the other stories. It's more of a soft, sweet and gentle romance. If you have read this series you have already met Chashan and Khaza, they are a Preor couple. They have no draonlets. Khaza wants desperately to be a mother. This story made me cry and rejoice as they try to make their family.
Novella written within the Dragons of Preor, a spin-off of the Ujal series. It should be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters.
This novella is about the journey the mated pair, Khasa and Chashan, take to having a dragonlet of their own.
Erica headed for the Preor Tower but began her Labour prematurely and Khaza felt her pain. Khaza ran and told Cashan to bring a medical bed and team. An emergency C-section was performed but not in time to save the mother and Khaza heard the mother's plea in her mind. Eric had new Preor parents. Yes prepare to shed tears.
This book was FUN to read! It has action, love, sacrifice, & alien adoption. (I know, right!) This entire series is WONDERFUL & this book is another fantastic addition.
Good read but to short needed more. Would like more to this storyline. And wish for more on this child. Like ho he gets along with the other Preor children and how he is different from all the children.
It was so fun to see Chashan and his mate Khaza get diagnosing they always longed for. It was sad that the human mother lost her fight for life and happiness but I'm sure she was happy that she found a good home for her son.
