Although this web series is from before 2014 (and first published in Japan on 2014) nobody in the West seems to have picked it up until now...The thing is most of the "thinking of the main character" is incredibly controversial, especially about having intercourse with his underage minor classmates. The proclivity to talk about sexual assault, gang-sexual assault and murder of minors in such a light manner cringes... The light novel needs a lot of editing and polish, the publisher needs to remove from the original story the idea that a guy, can have sex with 20-50 underage girls just because he can save them from Monsters...this in every which way one can argue it, is sexual harrassment of minors. The thinking of the author is convoluted at best, delusional on most points. For example, the white room that levels them up, will "save their virginities", and at the same time, while in the "white room" can heal, recover MP, improve skills and abilities, shower, have intercourse, then come back and still have top health, top mana, so then how did they get their virginity back if they can heal, repair their clothes and weapons, improve their abilities? Either the white rooms are safe zones where positive changes can happen in "safety" or they are not... I get the feeling the author was really young when he wrote the story way back before 2014...that or had very little to no emotional intelligence, sexual maturity to answer and avoid all of the tough obstacles in creating a "legal", "isekai-ed to another world" and now I'm boinking all of the girls from my school, just because..." attitude...which is crazy...
We found a common story, nothing new, and it has been done better in other books. The problem with this book is poor editing and really bad characters. In fact, the story on this books span two days, the skill and magic system spam conveniently, you need water, no problem, we ha ve a spell for that, we need food, no problem, there is a spell for that, how'bout towels? Easy, we have a spell for that, and so on. The MC is just unlikable. Despite saying several times he doesn't trust anyone, he just falls in love after a couple of hours meeting the 'heroine'. Just a couple of hours, and they're deeply in love. The dialogues are badly written, and the same phrases are repeated over and over. The rest are just gross descriptions of abuse girls during the whole book, in a really poor taste.
I read this book out of morbid curiosity, not expecting very much, and I still felt a bit disappointed. Not because of the trouble on Amazon, that was what I kind of thought it would be, Goblin Slayer but with orcs and tame art. The story is also fairly typical, harem, isekai, and a system even if it comes with a somewhat new way to deal with it and the MC is not overpowered. No, my issue is the really bad conversations and interactions between the people which not only sound unnatural (who speaks that way?) and act unnatural to the point that overshadows most of story for me. And I am used to cringe in light novels, but this bad and I don't think the author wants to depicts it as satire. O well, I did not expect much in the first place and it was a short read.
First read this about 8 years ago, translations of the original web novel, so I'm glad to see this finally being released with official translations I can support. A lot has changed since then, but I still found the "white-room system" pretty cool and most of what happened pretty realistic, though there is no doubt the MC has a def halo for him to be so lucky after the world around them changes.
Slow paced and more about weird relationships than little and summoning. I found it hard to keep reading. I usually go through a book a dag. This took me 3 days and it felt like a chore.
Rather flat in the plot. Just another story of transmigrated into another world, and survival there is hard but fun with gaming system. The content more like web novel and still not edited well into light novel format.
