Austen in Love #2

Jane and Bingley

Rate this book
Eight months ago, Charles Bingley took off for New York and never told Jane Bennet why he was breaking up with her. Now he’s back, and she’s cautiously optimistic at the attention he’s been showing her. Could they actually have a chance at rekindling their relationship? She’s hopeful—until her sister Eliza’s wedding to Will Darcy, when Charles begins to show his true colors again.

Charles knows he’s nearly lost the love of his life, and he isn’t about to let that happen. With the help of his lovable grammy, he comes up with a plan to woo Jane and prove he’s in her life to stay.

Join Charles as he shares with Jane the true Twelve Days of Christmas, and see how with patience, a little imagination, and hope, he captures the heart of the woman who was meant to be his forever.

This was such a fun story featuring Jane Bennett and Charles Bingley. I loved the Christmas theme and setting for their sweet romance to heal and bloom.

I loved the first book in the series and had been anxiously awaiting the continuation with this book. It's a year past it's release and I told myself that I'm not going to wait any longer but just grab it and read it. It's a super quick read I enjoyed on a drive to visit family.

If you've read or watched Pride and Prejudice then you'll know the basic storyline for these two characters. If you haven't then you're in for a treat reading this fun, fast and sweet modern Austen story.

Jane and Charles had an instant connection when they first met but unfortunately he took off and broke off their relationship unexpectedly and without explanation. But now he's coming back and they are ready for a second chance...or are they?

Can Charles get his act together? Can he find a way to show he truly is interested in Jane and sorry for his mistake in leaving or will they be stuck playing the back and forth relationship game?

I loved the 12 days of Christmas and how the author played around with it for this story, such a creative idea!

Now I'm ready for book 3, the Persuasion story (which by the way is one of my favorite Austen novels!)!!!!!!

A very sweet, clean read with some kissing.

I snagged a copy from Amazon for $0.99.

Happy Reading!!!

Cute, clean, quick read in about an hour.

This is book 2 in the Austen in Love series. It follows Book 1 in the series My Pride, His Prejudice. It would be best if you read the first book; however, it could be a stand-a-lone. The first book lays a foundation for the problems between Charles and Jane, but the author gives enough clues so the reader knows what is going on. This characterization was spot on for a Charles Bingley. He was hilarious as he messed up all around in his relationship with Jane. She was so cute you couldn’t help but love her. Charles has some major Christmas make-up plans for Jane, thanks to his grandmother [a hoot]. Eliza and Darcy are away on their honeymoon so we just have Jane and Charles trying to find their own HEA.

After SEVERAL messages asking that I write a sequel to My Pride, His Prejudice, I repented. This is that sequel. It's also part of the Countdown to Christmas series through Trifecta Books. I hope you love this extra addition. You were so right! This was so needed! And so much fun to write. Enjoy. And thank you for letting me see how wrong I was to end the last book so suddenly. You guys are the best.
Love,

Romantic read :)

This sequel to My Pride, His Prejudice is a gem! I loved this adaptation of Elizabeth Bennett's older sister Jane and her romance with Charles Bingely. This is an expansion to the Pride and Prejudice story with Jane and Charles' viewpoint. I enjoyed it so much I read it in one sitting! Highly recommend this sweet and clean romance!!

Contemporary romance

The second book of Austen in Love focussed on Jane and Bingley.
A sweet and simplistic fast read. A mashup of Pride & Prejudice and the Christmas song "My true love gave to me..."

I didn't like this one as much as her other books that I've read. (That may be have to do with the fact that I read it in shorter increments over several evenings.) Usually when I finish her books I feel refreshed and joyful. When I finished this one it was just a thought of, "Ok, that was good, but on to the next book."
Nothing wrong with it really. It WAS good, maybe just a little anticlimactic. However, keep in mind that I have loved most every book I have read from this author. Very good and clean books.

Another cute and fun read. This one is set at Christmas time and I always love a good Christmas romance (like reading a Hallmark Christmas movie!). I felt the author took more liberty to expand the story away from the Pride and Prejudice characters they are based on than she did the in the first book. It is an easy and fun read.

This is a fun, clean romance. I like the 12 days of Christmas concept and would like to do it sometime. I loved that Bingly had to grovel. I always felt that was missing from the original. I look forward to the next in the series.

A cute and clean read. Loved the 12 days of Christmas - super clever. While it was short I felt like I got to know the characters, and with their prior relationship it didn't feel rushed.

Moral Note: Clean

Another quick and easy read by Jenni James. I loved the re-written stories of Jane Austen. It has a twist of it's own. I liked Charles Bingley's 12 days of Christmas ideas to gain the trust of Jane Bennett.

On the first day of Christmas Bingley gave to Jane...

Read if you.... love Christmas like Buddy the Elf loves Santa, ran out of Hallmark movies to binge, or read Pride and Prejudice thinking "this needs more Bingley"

This was not nearly as painful as my first encounter with the "Austen in Love" series. Jane and Bingley isn't a masterpiece by any means, but it's fluffy, fun, and the perfect thing to read when you're dying in the heat, waiting for PG&E to turn off your power to prevent forest fires and all that.

The book is pretty much what you'd expect: Bingley uses the 12 Days of Christmas to woo Jane. There's not much to the actual story--the plot is paltry at best--but you don't watch a Hallmark Christmas movie for its scintillating screenplay. James tries to throw some tension in, but Jane and Bingley are kind of basic to begin with, so even the attempts at "drama" are kind of vanilla. I'll bring back the Hallmark movie analogy; you don't watch them for their plot twists, you watch them because they're fun. Their predictability is part of their charm. The same is true for a book like this. The 12 Gifts for Christmas Bingley comes up with are creative and clever and probably the main attraction of the book. It's cute and light and festive, and it's the perfect thing to read around Christmas when you're sitting by the fire or need something to you can easily pick up and put down in between gatherings. (Even if you don't have time to finish it in one go, you probably won't be so invested you'll inadvertently cause family drama if you're interrupted in the middle of reading.)

This is a slightly less ridiculous sequel to My Pride, His Prejudice ( https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...)

Beginning at Darcy & Lizzy's alcohol free wedding. Jane is supposed to sit with Charles but he blows her off and sits with his friends. (Do you see why liquor at weddings is a good idea?) and he is so mentally deficient that he can't even figure out why she is mad at him. (Inbreeding?)

Luckily his granny comes over to his house and straightens him out. She tells him he needs to woo Jane with an over the top Christmas gifts. Now the reason Charles dumped jane is that Darcy told him she was a gold digger... so the solution is to cater to her inner gold digger... WTF

So he woos Jane with these insane over the top 12 days of Christmas gifts - a pear tree, candy making, dinner at a French restaurant, 6 Faberge eggs, tickets to the ballet. Amid this jane finds an unsent letter at Lizzy's where she (Lizzy) is enumerating why Jane has been ill used by Charles and Darcy. So she (Jane) decides to stop seeing Charles. First sensible thing seriously this guy is unbalanced.

But of course they reconcile and plan to live in NYC because it has been Jane's dream to travel.

I am pretty sure I am finished with this series.
