Domination

Years of hard work preceded her entry to the Oval Office. She attended the right prep schools and right colleges. She made sure to make all the right contacts, ingratiating herself into the right circles. But all those rights hadn’t been enough.

In the end, she’d needed her mother.

And now it was time to repay that debt.

DOMINATION (Bonfire Chronicles) by Imogen Rose

I am ashamed to admit I have fallen behind on this series. Don’t you hate it when life gets in the way of reading? At any rate it didn’t take me long to slip back into the Bonfire world. Cordelia and Faustine have always been two of my favorite characters and two of the story arcs center around them. There is a lot going on in this book, don’t think for a minute that Ms. Rose would be satisfied with only two story arcs. There is trouble at the white house with the newly elected paranormal President, Tania Miller who is Katerina’s daughter, and the subterranean trolls are small enough to navigate the ducts to keep an eye on things. The problem is they are not aligned with G.R.I.P. – Global Retrieval and Intelligence Program — which oversees the paranormal activity.

The twists in the storyline are startling and filled with tension. G.R.I.P. calls a Code Red over a nefarious global threat. New revelations are revealed to the readers about the Bonfire World and there is an announcement of a new baby. “Domination” also closes with two bigly huge cliffhangers. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

“Domination” is book four in the Bonfire Chronicles series.

It's been almost two years since Imogen Rose's last book. I found myself slipping easily into her world and hearing about the latest adventures of the characters (at least the likable ones) was like catching up with old friends.

In each installment we learn a little more about Rose's paranormal creatures, not just their personalities, but their capabilities or powers. We understand the world they live in a bit better, which is partially our world, but things are going on that we aren't aware of or misinterpret based on our limited knowledge.

In this latest installment two of the main characters are having a baby. This is complicated not only by the child-to-be's genetic makeup (a combination of fairy, demon, and wanderer, the last a paranormal creature that might be unique to Rose's story worlds) which is unique enough as to be hard to predict how it will work out, but also due to some issues with the grandmother-to-be. Then there is the US President and the wrath her mother is trying to unleash on the world. Needless to say, tension is high and how or if it will turn out okay is in question right up until the end.

Those who have been waiting for this aren't going to be disappointed. Those who haven't, now is as good a time to hop on board, either reading Domination or going back to the start of the series.

For two years, I have impatiently waited for the next book in the Bonfire Chronicles. I love being in Cordelia and Faustine’s world. Both demon princesses (although Faustine is half human), both synched to wanderer’s (synched is like being mated). At the end of Retaliation, Cordelia is given two surprises at once. Jagger’s mom the Queen of the Beyond is demanding their presence in the Beyond- the reason for this sudden request is that Cordelia is pregnant (yeah, she didn’t know). Not only are these two swept into the drama of Jagger’s momma, there are a lot of worries about how to deal with their hybrid baby’s pre-natal care.

Faustine’s life is not drama free either. She is fighting being synched as it doesn’t follow with her human side of being in love. Ryker is tying to be supportive and not pushy but he is secretly panicking on the inside. Then President Miller, Katerina’s daughter kidnaps Lady Annabel (Faustine’s momma). Rescuing her puts her and her daddy the Demon King of London at odds with GRIP, the supernatural governing police.

Romantic swagger is gone in Jagger, instead he bows down to his mom and put Cordelia and their baby in danger. What the what? Book after book he has been all about Cordelia and saving her and then this happens? You make the reader fall for him and right now I want to face punch him talk about an emotional rollercoaster. There were no swoony moments, just annoying I hate you being weak moments. Man-up dude and act like the Jagger we know and love.

Then we have Faustine pushing Ryker away after all they have been through, to say I am annoyed doesn’t even come close. I trust that the author is putting us through this emotional rollercoaster for a reason.

Domination brings us back the world of the Bonfire Chronicles. It was nice to be back, even with the changes in well everything it felt like. As annoyed as I am, I still can’t wait for the next installment hopefully it will all come together beautifully.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Jaw dropping cliffhanger!!!

Holy smokes I can't even believe that cliffhanger!! I'm going to go nuts waiting for the next book!! This series just keeps getting better and better. Just when I think that things are going to get wrapped up with a nice bow, new information comes to light, new characters are added whith their own story to share and the plot thickens. So many questions left unswered like is Cordelia and Pandora safe? Will Jagger ever get to see them again? What's the story with Brachus? What other realms are there? What will king Sebastian's punishment be? I could go on. I can only hope the next book is written soon.

The story begins right where it finished in Retaliation.
Jagger annoncing Cordelia that she is pregnant and that they must go right away in Beyond, where Jagger's mother summon them. What is a really good news, will soon become threatening for Cordelia's liberty. Queen of Beyond is not an easy woman. Meanwhile, at GRIP, the evil Katerina is detained in the form of a mouse, that way, she can't hurt anyone.
Unfortunately, nothing stays calm very long in the paranormal world and after Faustine's mother disappearance, Lady Annabel, GRIP get an ultimatum from the new president of the USA, Tania Miller, Katerina's daughter. She wants her mother back or Lady Annabel will get hurt.
What are Katerina and her team up to ?

My opinion:
I was really happy to read again about Cordelia, Jagger, Faustine, Quinn and all the others. I missed those characters. Being a fan of the Portal Chronicles as well, I was thrill to find Harry in that book. I can't wait to see what's next for the next book but it seems that we will have to wait a little bit because Imogen is working on a new serie.

Her best yet!
I have loved this series from the very beginning & it just keeps getting better & better! The characters I have followed as they mature & theirs powers progress (even when their worlds are shredded apart) repeatedly win me over time & time again! Every book kicks the feels up a few notches as the characters we have grown to love morph into something/someone more intense & demand we come back for more. Cordelia & Jagger were my faves from the start & I love getting to revisit their world. Witnessing their bond & anticipating what's to come is exciting & addictive. Faustine added a fun/frightening twist to the series as well. Her transformation being the most dramatic bringing this story to a whole new level. BUT ... the ever growing list of new characters & their roles in the bigger picture are the very best. Always diverse & interesting.
The fact that this series has so many different supernatural beings, characters, & side stories yet I can remember them in vivid detail proves this author's skills. There's always something new to experience & keep us guessing along this journey. I highly recommend this book/series/author!!!
