These bundles tell the stories of men and women from my Protectors, Barretti, Escort and Finding series. Although each story was written so it could be read as a standalone, much more enjoyment can be gained by reading the books in order. You'll meet secondary characters who ultimately get their own books and you will understand the history behind each family of men when their series start to cross over with one another. Although there are 3 M/F books within the bundles, you can skip them if you want. The remaining books are all M/M or M/M/M.

Ich habe mir die Bundle von Sloane Kennedy gekauft, weil sich sehr schnell abzeichnete, dass ihre Reihen,
The Escort (het/bi),
Protectors,
Baretti Security
Finding
sehr stark verschränkt sind und ich fand es praktischer mich von der Autorin durch ihre Stränge führen zu lassen.
Vorausschicken möchte ich noch einmal, was ich schon zu Protectors 1 geschrieben habe:
Die Reihe “Protectors” von Sloane Kennedy ist einer der wenigen Fälle wo ich mich irgendwie gezwungen sehe, zu erklären warum ich sie überhaupt lese, ganz zu schweigen davon, dass ich sie in einer Hauruck Aktion im Sommer 2017 quasi in einem Atemzug durchgelesen habe
Und, warum ich einige der Geschichten immer wieder lese, wenn sie doch mehr als ein Element enthalten, das mich eigentlich dazu bringen würde, das Buch abzubrechen.
Ich denke da nur an das Grundmotiv der Serie, die Untergrundgruppe, die sich zum Richter und Henker aufschwingt und “justice” für die Opfer bringt, die vom System verraten worden sind.
Natürlich jagt man nur die Bösen und man weiß es natürlich besser als alle Juristen zusammen.
Und man schützt die Unschuldigsten der Unschuldigen, die Kinder, dass kann ja nur gut sein. [Ironie aus] *seufz*
Man merkt vielleicht, dass ich mit dieser Idee mehr als überkreuz bin. Und für mich eigentlich ein Grund ist solche Bücher nicht zu lesen.
Und dennoch lese ich diese Geschichten, was mich immer wieder den Kopf über mich selbst schütteln lässt. Warum diese Reihe für mich dennoch lesenswert ist, ich grüble immer wieder darüber nach, bin aber noch zu keinem schlüssigen Endergebnis gekommen.
Band 1 des Bündels enthält auch ausschließlich Protectors Geschichten.

Darauf folgt: Salvation
Hatte ich schon mit Band 1 so meine Probleme, so machte mir Salvation das Lesen noch schwerer.
Wenn ich Band 2 lese, bin ich von "Erlösung", so die Übersetzung des Titels des Bandes weit entfernt.
Und wenn ich Band 2 als erstes gelesen hätte, so hätte ich die Serie nie, wirklich nie weitergelesen.
Ich hätte nicht mal das Buch zu Ende bekommen.
Und das alles hängt an einer Figur, an Ronan, den wir in Band 1 schon kurz kennen lernen "durften".
Er verkörpert so ziemlich alles was ich wirklich abstoßend finde und ich bin der Meinung, dass Seth sich lieber einen anderen Partner suchen sollte.
Die Art und Weise wie er mit unnötiger körperlicher Gewalt reagiert, reibt an meinen Nerven, besonders furchtbar fand ich eine Situation in der er jeden Rahmen sprengte, ja der Gewerkschaftsführer kommt Seth etwas zu nahe, und Seth, der eh schon psychisch angeschlagen ist, wollte das nicht, doch Ronan begibt sich mit seinen Reaktionen auf ein noch tieferes Niveau.
Typischer Fall von erst schießen und dann fragen.
Abgestoßen hat mich die Art und Weise wie Ronan Sex zu etwas billigem, dreckigen macht.
Dass Seth da mitmacht, steht auf einem anderen Blatt und da frage ich mich derzeit noch welche Überschrift das haben sollte, das Blatt.
Ist dem Typen, also ronan eigentlich irgendwann mal bewusst geworden, dass er Hilfe gebraucht hätte, um mit allem was er erlebt hat, umzugehen?
Und dass andere Leute umzubringen und dabei das Gefühl zu haben wieder Kontrolle über etwas zu haben, ihn auf die gleiche Stufe stellt, wie die Menschen die er in einem Aufwasch verurteilt und hinrichtet?
All das macht es mir schwer zu glauben, dass er je ein guter Arzt gewesen sein kann, weil er so null Respekt vor dem Leben beweist.
Anfangs habe ich auch damit gehardert, dass er anfängt, seinen verstorbenen Verlobten plötzlich in einem schlechten Licht zu sehen, weil man ja nicht schlecht über Tote sprechen soll.
aber dann habe ich mich gefragt, ob das nicht auch zur Trauerarbeit gehört, einen Toten von so einem “Podest” herunter zu holen und auch seine schlechten Seiten zu sehen.
Ich habe mir dann eher die Frage gestellt, ob Ronan sich damit nicht fast zu viel Zeit gelassen hat, immerhin ist sein Verlobter inzwischen länger tot, als sie zusammen waren.
Seth bleibt leider zu blass für mich, ich kann mich kaum an ihn erinnern, er ist viel zu passiv, um einen Eindruck zu hinterlassen.
Wie gesagt hätte ich dieses Buch als erstes gelesen hätte ich die Serie wohl nie fortgeführt.
Den nächsten Roman habe ich gleich im Anschluss gelesen, Protectors 3
Die Hauptrolle nimmt diesmal Hawk ein, ein Mann, der dem Leser schon bekannt ist, da er als Mentor und „das nächste was an einen Freund herankommt“ Ronans in Protectors 2 eine wichtige Rolle spielte und dennoch ein geheimnisvoller Schatten blieb.
Ihm zur Seite gestellt wird Tate, ein sehr junger Mann, der verdammt viel im Leben zu schultern hat.
Vorausschicken möchte ich eine Warnung, denn die Beziehung zwischen den beiden ist sehr lange etwas, was mir schwer fiel zu akzeptieren. Ich denke, man kann sie mit Fug und Recht als „kaputte oder ungesunde Beziehung“ beschreiben. Wer damit nichts anfangen kann, dem rate ich Abstand zu nehmen von dieser Geschichte.
Das Setting ist wieder ein düsteres, ich würde es beschreiben mit ein US-amerikanisches Leben in den Schatten.
An schlechten Tagen habe ich große Probleme mit den beiden Protagonisten und ihnen ihren Umgang miteinander abzunehmen, geschweige denn zu verzeihen.
Denn Hawke benimmt sich hier wie ein Bully, schlicht und ergreifend und es gibt etwas was ich ihm absolut nicht verzeihen kann und was ich auch der Autorin nicht verzeihe, weil sie es im weiteren Verlauf der Geschichte untergehen lässt, dass ist sein Verhalten Matty gegenüber.
Denn er benutzt das Kind rücksichtslos um sich durchzusetzen und seine Begründung dafür macht mich dann noch wütender.
Ach ja ich vergaß, darf ich vorstellen :
Matty, das niedliche Kind an Tates Seite,
seine Aufgabe in dieser Geschichte ist es, Tate abhängig und erpressbar zu machen.
Damit man das nicht so merkt, ist er einfach entzückend in seiner kindlichen Unschuld.
Sorry, ich kann es mir einfach nicht verkneifen, ich störe mich daran, wenn Kinderfiguren auf diese Art und Weise in Geschichten benutzt werden.
Matty ist Tates Schwäche und die wird von Hawke übelst ausgenutzt.
Überhaupt lässt sich die Geschichte so zusammenfassen:
Noch ein Wort zum Sex in dieser Geschichte. Er bildet den besonders am Anfang recht kaputten Zustand der sich entwickelnden Beziehung ab.
So belastend das ist, ist die Szene hier an der Stelle dennoch passend, denn sie bildet eben genau diese kaputte Sache zwischen den beiden Männern ab, daher kann ich die Szene hier tolerieren, weil die beiden Männer auf die Anziehung die zwischen ihnen ist reagieren, aber besonders Hawke einfach noch gar nicht „durch“ ist mit dem was er für Tate empfindet. Und das findet halt Ausdruck in wirklich schlechtem Sex.
Der im Laufe der Zeit besser wird, soviel sei gesagt
So und nun noch ein dicker Spoiler, denn so spannend ich die Entwicklung zwischen den beiden Männern fand, gibt es in der Geschichte doch besonders eines, was mir gegen den Strich ging.
Am Anfang kommt es zur ersten Szene die mich gegen Hawke aufgebracht hatte:
Das alles führt dazu, dass es nur für drei Sterne reicht, weil es mich gefesselt hat , aber es eben bei ein "ordentliches" Leseerlebnis bleibt

When I first read Sloane Kennedy’s series I didn’t realise that they were interconnected so I decided to reread everything but in the order with these volume series. I absolutely love the way Sloane gets the reader drawn in emotional and you literally can’t put the book down, god forbid the children ask you a question and you need to stop reading your still Constantly thinking about the book and what’s gonna happen next. I love it. I also love how she’s highlight gay romances but in such a way that’s its touching as well as raising awareness in the most positive light! Well done Sloane!!

I've read these books individually but I just listened to them back to back and I have to say it was an amazing experience. As it went along my memory for each story came back so I knew roughly what was going to happen but listening to it was a new experience for me and worthwhile. I still recommend all three books.

I don’t know where to begin rating this series .... I’m completely enraptured with this group of characters. Just be forewarned, have your meals prepared ahead of time and block out hours of down time because once you start reading about these men, you won’t want to stop!!!

Absolutely lovable
Volume 1 of a family chosen is one of the best book of stories about I have read Im chose this book because I wanted the best reading experience of all the books wanted to by S. Kennedy and I could not be happier that I did locking forward to reading the rest of here books.

The story for a hold of me and held me
Even if you are not really into reading m/m stories the one in this set will grab you end have you needing to keep going to find out what is going to happen next.

3 Books with hard but sweet in the end love storues
Careful if you have a hard time reading about abuse! These stories share that the traumas that happen don't have to define the person and through it all love is possible. Tear jerkers but so worth it!

I love this series.
I have just found this author and I was very impressed with volume one. I love the way it follows the characters in the world. The intimate scenes were hot and I love how there is a suspenseful story at the same time.

In Love With These Men
I love all of these men so much! Such fun books to read. The stories suck me in and I can’t put them down.
However, Ms Sloan, please have others editors help you out with your grammar and spelling. I’m on the 9th book going by your recommended reading order. And MOST of the time “then” is used when you mean “than”, there are some misused pronouns, and some other errors that an editor can help you fix. Especially those that were published several years ago, those errors should have been fixed by now.
You keep writing and I’ll keep reading!

Simply love Sloane Kennedy. I've read this entire series once (purchasing or KUing each one). Now that the box sets are available as Kindle Unlimited I'm rereading again. This family of men (all traumatized some way or another) are just perfection.

Really loving and touching
I love this writer"s style. The writer does a very credible job of sharing what the characters have gone through, their pain, and suffering. And also how they are overcoming their past when they find the right person. How love heals.... And also acceptance and understanding are so crucial to reaching happiness. The reader is engaged and can empathize with the characters. I really love how the author uses tactile ways of showing love...I can totally relate to that and find that touch is so important to conveying love, caring, and affection. Often when you can't find the right words touch is important. Thank you for the beautiful love stories. I'm definitely a new fan of this author. Definitely a great read.

Retribution (The Protectors #3) Is my favourite book in this bundle. I really enjoyed Absolution (The Protectors, # 1) as well. It's a true m/m/m relationship.

Retribution is my favourite book so far in this series. I adore Matty, such a brave precious young boy. Tate is honest and loving and Hawke is loyal and strong. And yes their lovemaking is intense, filled with passion and emotion. The chemistry is off the charts. Hawke doesn't do labels and he loves Tate for who he is; he has only been with one person in his life, his now dead wife of 10 years. He has no problem showing Tate that he needs his body to show his intense feelings for him and that turns quickly into love. A love he wasn't expecting and his struggle to get there. His wife was his first true love now he's been given another... his beautiful Tate. I also liked seeing the previous characters stepping in to help Tate and Matty and this comes from their friendship with Hawke.
