Oracle #4

De misvormde

Rate this book

I liked
Discussions about food are almost the story in the story (in the story)
I disliked
Almost too many things happening in these 53 pages.?
I feel some parts of the story should have been emphasized, and I would have appreciate (even) more details regarding the gastronomy.
So..
Mixed feelings about #4 really.
Message fits pretty well our day-to-day life

The first issue of this series that left me indifferent. It was not bad but just average.

To start with the good : the theme. I really appreciated the underlying topic that ran through the work, that is : physical beauty and ugliness. Humans are visual creatures and even though a lot of people today say that what counts is inside, one can wonder how far this is true. Could we love someone who is quite objectively physically ugly?

The bad is that no characters (save two who are secondary) in this, not even (or rather especially) the MC, are likable. They are all rather despicable and thus the enjoyment is quite lessened.

It was just okayish but nothing incredible.

I liked the drawings and the story. It is all about his love. He gives Apollo an honest answer but he didn't like his honesty at all. When he gets cursed and his charms are lost, he tries to find different charms...
He works hard, he learns but he does it all for the love of his life and not because he wants to achieve something and challenge himself.
The love of his life doesn't see him in the same way. She is shallow and narrow minded but so is he.
Actually if they just would have watched what is inside the other person, grief, lose of life and cruelty could have been absent. He is maybe ugly and though she is beautiful she is just as ugly within.
