Remy Blake is a male/female author duo that I just recently discovered. I knew that Jacob Chance was the male author involved, and I wanted to try his writing, so I thought this quick read would be the perfect opportunity to do that. Guardian is a forbidden romance, but don’t worry if that really isn’t your thing. The story didn’t feel that taboo to me, and there is absolutely no kink involved. It's one of the best short stories that I have ever read in the romance genre. I usually find it hard to rate books of this length, because I feel like there isn’t a complete story there. In my experience, short erotic reads are usually just a string of sex scenes with a few lines of dialogue in between. That was not the case here at all. Yes, there is plenty of steam, but by the end, I felt like I had read a complete, albeit short, story.
Brock, a 35 year old detective, was shocked to find out that his oldest friend had passed away. He was even more shocked to discover that his friend requested that he take guardianship of his daughter. Brock hadn’t seen his friend in years, and he wasn’t aware that he even had a child. He knows absolutely nothing about taking care of a child, least of all a little girl.
When his new charge, Ivy, arrives, she isn’t at all what he expected. Instead of being a sweet little girl, she is a full grown woman. Ivy is almost 19 and wearing clothes that leave little to the imagination. He knows that he is in for trouble when she looks him in the eye and asks if he is her new daddy.
Ivy doesn’t want to live with this strange man that she has never met, but she does want her inheritance. The only way for her to receive it is for her to stay with Brock for 6 months. At first, she tries and succeeds to get under his skin, but eventually she realizes that it is best to play nice.
Brock agrees to try to stay out of Ivy’s way, and she agrees to do the same. They have a strong attraction toward one another, but neither one of them think it’s a good idea to give into it. Not only is Ivy his best friend’s daughter, but she is young and has her whole life ahead of her. Ivy has big dreams to travel the world, and she doesn’t need anyone holding her back.
Living together and not interacting doesn’t last long. Having a regular friendship isn’t an option for them, because the sexual tension between them is too strong to resist. It isn’t just the sexual tension either. They have actual feelings for each other. However, that doesn’t change Ivy’s plan for her life. As much as she cares about Brock, she isn’t going to let a man come in between her and the life she’s always wanted.
I always say that the characters are what can make or break a story for me. In this case, they definitely made it. Brock and Ivy made the story seem more realistic, because they were. Ivy was mature and strong minded for her age. She didn’t act like a love struck teenager. Her goals and plans for her future mattered to her, and she wasn’t willing to let anything cloud her judgement. Brock was sweet, thoughtful, and understanding when it came to what was best for her. He wanted her to have everything she wanted, and never wanted to interfere with that.
Guardian is a quick, sexy read that you won’t be able to put down. The writing is addictive, the sex is hot, and the story is perfectly paced and entertaining. If I didn’t know this book was written by two authors, I would have never guessed, because everything flowed exceptionally well from beginning to end. Honestly, I think that whoever the mystery female author is, she is Jacob Chance’s perfect match.
I enjoyed this story immensely, and I will be reading everything written by Remy Blake that I can get my hands on in the future. It is exactly the kind of short, steamy read I always hoped to find. If the blurb peaks your interest, you are a fan of forbidden romance, or are looking for a short, hot read with more substance than most, this one is for you!

Guardian was quite good even if it is a cliché trope. For a novella, these authors did a great job creating a storyline that felt organic in a small number of pages. And admittedly I felt amused reading this, in a good way.
With the news that his best friend has passed, Brock doesn’t even have time to mourn. He is shocked that his friend has left him custody of his daughter. Expecting a young girl, he receives a Lolita incarnate.
"I should’ve fucking known she was going to fuck with me. This girl is a ball buster with a capital b."
Ivy may be an 18-year-old in need of a guardian, but she has her own agenda. Do her time and then get the hell out of dodge. And if that means making the situation awkward as fuck for Brock, she will not be refraining…
"Fuck. Her powers of persuasion are better than I anticipated. Score - Ivy one - Brock zero."
As mentioned this is was an enjoyable age gap novella that packed plenty of heat without making you roll your eyes. So please, if you’re looking for a well written smuttfest, this is perfect!

Guardian was a super short, sexy read. At first, after reading the blurb, I made the assumption that the trope of this book was probably 'daddy' kink." It was not. The premise is strictly older man/younger woman. The hero, Brock, was fifteen years older than the heroine, Ivy. That said, I adored this book and was not at all creeped out by the age difference.
Brock is shocked to learn that his long time friend passed away and left Brock guardianship of his daughter. Brock does not understand why his friend would ask him to do that, but Brock does not say no. Unfortunately, Brock has no idea how to take care of the girl. A girl, he mistakingly assumed was a child.
When Brock sees Ivy for the first time, he is beyond surprised and not a little dismayed that Ivy, although very young compared to his own age, is a legal adult. She is beautiful and Brock is instantly dismayed by the instant bolt of lust and desire that nearly overcomes him.
Ivy is not happy that she has to live with Brock in order to meet the conditions of her father's will. Ivy has plans for her future and they do not include Brock.
Sometimes plans change.
To say that Ivy and Brock got off to a rocky and tense start would be an understatement. There was so much tension between them; sexual and otherwise. Overtime they learned to be civil to each other and shortly after became friends. However, they could not remain in the 'friend' zone for long. No matter how hard they tried.
Once Brock and Ivy came together (no pun intended ;) ) the story moved along pretty quickly. In my opinion, there was little to no angst. The intimacy between Brock and Ivy was sexy and hot. I appreciated that Ivy was very mature for her young age which helped set my mind at ease concerning the large age difference.
Also, I thought the writing flowed very well considering this book was written by an author duo. I am definitely planning to read more from Remy Blake in the future.
Guardian was a very sweet, sexy, enjoyable book; one you will love and reread over again.

Quick and hot
If you're looking for instalove that could be considered sort of taboo, then this is it.
When an old friend Brock had lost contact with passes, he is left as the guardian of his old friends daughter. He's reluctant, but takes on the task anyway. He's expecting a young girl, but what he gets isn't that. Haha. Brock is Ivy's guardian, but he can't deny the attraction that's there even though he'd never act on it. Ivy just wants to get Brock out of her life as quickly as possibly. I wonder how this story will turn out. *snort*

Another great read from the new writing duo that is Remy Blake.
While it's a short & steamy read, I love that this duo pack in plenty of background & plot. The characters actually have some depth, which means you know enough about them & their motivations to be able to engage with them early in the read.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of sparks & steam... Brock & Ivy certainly bring the heat... but it's more than just a quick & dirty smut-filled read.
While there is a fairly decent age gap, it didn't feel overly taboo to me, and I think it's because I was so wrapped in their story, their ages became irrelevant.
I loved both Brock & Ivy, and found them to be age relatable - meaning they acted their ages. I loved the push and pull of their dynamic & laughed out loud several times at the antics. And when they let their guards drop, and actually spoke with truth, my heart couldn't help but become involved.
Having now read & loved both RB's debut book (Tempt) and this book as their follow up release (note: the two books are not linked and are standalone reads) I can safely say that Remy Blake has become a #OneClickAuthor for me.

Guardian is the first book I have read by this writing duo and definitely not the last. It was exactly what I was looking for, short and sweet. Brock and Ivy had great chemistry. Their first interaction was very funny and I enjoyed the tension that quickly became banter. If you don't like Insta-Everything you may want to skip this one but if the Insta's don't bother you this one was good.
Guardian is the first book I have read by this writing duo and definitely not the last. It was exactly what I was looking for, short and sweet. Brock and Ivy had great chemistry. Their first interaction was very funny and I enjoyed the tension that quickly became banter. If you don't like Insta-Everything you may want to skip this one but if the Insta's don't bother you this one was good.

Another short story, after reading Tempt I was curious to read more by this duo. Guardian is another insta lust/love short story. Brock and Ivy are pleasant characters, the sex between them is steamy and the love developing between them is an added bonus to this warm story. These stories are nice interludes among series or if you want a quick love fix and guaranteed HEA.

Wow, I was so looking forward to this book and it definitely was a very good read.
OK, so let me say this story was sexy, fast and I loved me A WHOLE LOT OF BROCK!!!! I have to say that Ivy was ok, good, but I wasn't in love with her. IDK, I guess her character for me was lacking that "something". Their time together was smoking hot and I enjoyed all the sex scenes immensely:)
SAFETY SPOILERS
For my safety people...hmmm this may be "safe" for some maybe not. For me, I deducted a half star due to my own personal reading preferences and didn't care for his activity with his neighbor at one point. At the beginning, well ok, but after that it was a no for me but hey that's ok, I still loved Brock. Also the other half deduction was for Ivy's character, for me I wasn't "in love" with her:(
All in all, my first read by this author and I will be back for more!!!!!!!!

This duo has done it again and have written another amazing story. Right from the beginning my attention is captured and I'm drawn into the storyline about how Brock, a 35 year old single officer is now becoming the guardian of his late friends daughter Ivy who is 18. The attraction is there without a doubt but when they both try to fight it and argue instead of embracing their feeling I found myself laughing with the things Ivy comes up with to rile Brock up. This is a quick read but oh so good, it's filled with hotness and have you wishing you were in Ivy's place living there with Brock. This is a must read, you will be smiling the entire time and won't be able to put your reader down. Loved loved loved this story and I cannot wait to see what Remy Blake has in store for us next. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

This book gets hot and heavy fast! With anticipation and excitement ,the forbidden becomes obsession. Brock is expecting a small little girl, but what he gets is a tempting vixen. Ivy and Brock try to fight the growing attraction and fail miserably . When it gets to irresistible they let go and finally get to ravish each other . Ivy makes a decision on her own that breaks both of them. But Brock is not ready to let go and accept it. His actions are the best for what they both truly want. This is the first book ever that I have read by this author . It definitely will not be the last. It was refreshingly entertaining and sexy . I truly enjoyed it!

It is so intriguing and so realistic! Brock didn't act like an alpha male and just went for Ivy.
I loved how they actually genuinely try to be friends and stay away from each other and I think that's a really great buildup! <3
Ivy was gonna follow her dream and I admired her for that and not just gave up everything to be with her man... :)

ARC of Guardian by Remy Blake was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is my second book that I have read by Remy Blake and I wasn't let down, this male and female writing duo brought their A game on this one. I absolutely loved the back and forth struggle between Brock and Ivy. It was super interesting and addicting. Their dynamic and chemistry was off the charts. I was sucked in from the first page. I couldn't stop until I had reached the end. I'm always a pushover for a good older man/younger woman theme.
Brock Marshall is a bachelor living on his own who is suddenly thrust into guardianship of his best friend's only child. He doesn't want to be bothered with taking responsibility for someone else. He doesn't want the hassle, but his conscience get the better of him. It urges him to do the right thing. He had no idea his old buddy even had a child, let alone a daughter. He regrets losing touch with his friend over the years, going their own separate ways.
At first Brock doesn't realize his ward, Ivy is a teenager. A nineteen year old woman. He was under the impression that Ivy was a little girl. He gets a big shock and a dose of reality when Ivy shows up at his doorstep. He isn't prepared for the temptress and hell-raiser that he comes face-to-face with.
Brock doesn't know the first thing about parenting, but he also knows he shouldn't be attracted to Ivy. She's his deceased friend's daughter for god's sake. He knows it's wrong on so many levels, but he's unable to stop his body's reaction to her. Of course it doesn't help matters when Ivy find every opportunity to push his buttons. However, Brock is no easy mark. He lays down the law and doesn't allow Ivy to walk on top of him.
Ivy Colt doesn't want to live with Brock, but she has no say given that her father left him guardianship. She doesn't trust easily or believe in commitment. This is my second book that I have read by Remy Blake and I wasn't let down, this male and female writing duo brought their A game on this one. I absolutely loved the back and forth struggle between Brock and Ivy. It was super interesting and addicting. Their dynamic and chemistry was off the charts. I was sucked in from the first page. I couldn't stop until I had reached the end. I'm always a pushover for a good older man/younger woman theme.
Brock Marshall is a bachelor living on his own who is suddenly thrust into guardianship of his best friend's only child. He doesn't want to be bothered with taking responsibility for someone else. He doesn't want the hassle, but his conscience get the better of him. It urges him to do the right thing. He had no idea his old buddy even had a child, let alone a daughter. He regrets losing touch with his friend over the years, going their own separate ways.
At first Brock doesn't realize his ward, Ivy is a teenager. A nineteen year old woman. He was under the impression that Ivy was a little girl. He gets a big shock and a dose of reality when Ivy shows up at his doorstep. He isn't prepared for the temptress and hell-raiser that he comes face-to-face with.
Brock doesn't know the first thing about parenting, but he also knows he shouldn't be attracted to Ivy. She's his deceased friend's daughter for god's sake. He knows it's wrong on so many levels, but he's unable to stop his body's reaction to her. Of course it doesn't help matters when Ivy find every opportunity to push his buttons. However, Brock is no easy mark. He lays down the law and doesn't allow Ivy to walk on top of him.

Romantic and erotic, Guardian might be considered taboo for the age difference between the characters, but only for that.
I enjoyed this short story. The insta-love is pretty predictable but there's a whole emotional side to it, so you see the relationship and the feelings evolving.
Brock is pretty hot! And sexy! And a detective ;) and Ivy is very mature for her age as well as pretty sassy what gives a nice touch to the story.
I loved the romantic side of Brock, a lot!
You can expect very steamy scenes and a very entertaining story!

DIRTY KNEES REVIEWS: Guardian by Remy Blake 5 Knees!
I don't purposely go to taboo books cause it's not my go to genre. Knowing half of this duo I will read everything he puts out but holy man this one was good!
It has laugh out loud humour, INTENSE heat and believe it or not vulnerability that truly almost had me in tears.
I'm sad it didn't go further but that's what you get with novellas. If there is ever a break in scheduling Remy Blake I think you need to make this one a full story. OR Brock needs a sequel...just putting that out there.

Guardian was a HOT taboo read that I really enjoyed. `Brock was so darn sexy and I legit just wanted to eat him up. And I loved Ivy and all her sass. Together they were fire. Can't wait to read this duo's next book.

An awful plot that needs editing. The H is OTT manly police detective, she's 18 and OTT Lolita-ish student. The trouble is I didn't like either of them, they were so fake. She was deliberately bratty, as a misplaced 18 years old student can be, and she also was vulnerable. He's immediately attracted, then has sex with his neighbour. Just confirms what awful people they all were. It was all shock with lots of steam in an icky setting. He was not a Hero, just a tacky unethical policeman, low morals. No romance.

I am quickly becoming a HUGE fan of this duo! I love the way this duo has you worried about the way you will perceive this book but once you have read the book you are so turned on that nothing matters! Once I started reading I was a little concerned about the direction this book could go but BOY was I so wrong and I am beyond thrilled I read this book!
Brock is this delicious police detective who just found out some terrible news about a friend of his and his world is going to be completely rocked. In his mind he is expecting this little girl who he is going to have to protect from the world and worry about every little thing.....if he only knew. Ivy Colt is nothing like Brock expected and she is using that to her advantage, but little did she know it would turn her world upside down as well.
This build-up throughout this book had me ready to jump my husband at first site! My favorite thing about this duo, and even though this is only the second book, I am LOVING the amount of depth we get in such a short time. I felt like I read such a long story because I was so wrapped up in their lives and how they were going to affect each other. The writing is so intense; I was biting my nails hoping certain things wouldn't happen but then I was at the edge of my seat waiting for what I could see coming! Congrats on the new release Remy Blake! You two write freaking HOT stuff!!

HOT DAMN! I loved this little short! This was HOT as fire, the plot was fantastic, it was a simple read and it has a 17 year age gap with the h being legal! I was WINNING when I read this! AAAAAND IT WAS FILTHY HOT!!!
