Loyalty… Honor… Dignity…

Just a few short months after the shifter emergence tensions are already running high. Asked to join Alpha Squad to promote cooperation between shifters and human authorities, Eric King is not convinced of its relevance. Despite suspicion that the Secretary for Shifter Affairs is simply using the Squad as a way to boost his image, Eric’s loyalty to the cause will not allow him to say no… But when Janine Williams catches his eye, Eric realizes he has much more pressing issues. How is he supposed to concentrate on his training if his inner bear is insisting he take his squad leader as is his mate?

Given command of Alpha Squad, Major Janine Williams is far from pleased with her orders. Despite knowing that the initiative is just a gimmick, meant to pacify the shifter community, Janine is determined to do her job. Well. But after delving deeper into the strengths of her team, Janine discovers a wild untapped potential lurking beneath the surface. They could find success. As long as everyone works together. As long as she can manage to keep her relationship with Eric, the tough East London bear shifter, strictly professional…

Can Eric and Janine find a way to put aside their doubts and fears of each other? Or will the rising tide of propaganda drown them before they get the chance at a happily ever after?

Join Alpha Squad in this steamy paranormal romance you won’t want to put down. If you like Alpha City by Bryce Evans or Bear Patrol by Scarlett Grove, then you will love the Alpha Squad Series by Lorelei Moone!

The secret has hit the world in a wave of panic and fear. The response form a task force aimed at controlling the fear and panic of humans, keeping the peace, and punishing those that can’t or won’t quite follow the rules. I loved getting a glimpse at some of the previous series couples/characters. I love that things continued to the next step with more love and more mating and more adventure.

Eric and Adam find that they are heading for a new world of adventure and love. Eric just never expected that he would be working so close to the one that would be his for life. Janine has been chosen to help with the leading of the Alpha Squad. She just never expected to find that she would have so much to gain or lose all in one assignment. This was wonderful shifter romance with action and revelations. Janine and Eric both learn somethings they did not in the beginning. If quick reads are what your looking for then stop right her and pick up Alpha Squad: Book Camp. Up next we will she what Adam gets himself into.

Work Place Romance?

This story centers around the female lead, Janine, and the male lead Eric, as the overcome obstacles in their personal lives.

The shifters recently ousted themselves to the humans and there is a bit of "resistance".

Throw in a bit of action and romance and the book turned out to be an interesting read.

The narrator, Audrey Lusk, did well with the narration.

Entertaining, fun and enjoyable short shifter military story. This is an spin off of her other series, Scottish Werebear. You don't have to have read that series to enjoy this series. The story flowed smoothly and never felt choppy. This was just a quick entertaining listen with a little steamy romance and a HEA.

The synopsis gives a pretty detailed outline of the story.

The characters were okay. Being a shorter story there isn't much time to really develop the characters. Eric was a good character and likable. Janine was just there. I did like that the setting for this story provided some time for H/h to get to know each other and before they acted on their attraction.

Now that the shifters have come out and the world knows things could get really interesting in future installments.

Audrey Lusk does a good job with the narration. Clearly spoken. Her English accent is good. She has some really good character voices. Her female voices are good. Some of her male voices are really good and others need work. Although we all want our big bad Alpha guys to have deep sexy voices sometimes just a bit of difference is better than trying to do a voice that is too deep and makes them sound creepy/dumb. Enjoyed the Scottish male accent. As the story goes on her character narration evens out and is more normal/smooth and not as "forced" sounding as it is in the beginning. Overall though her narration was enjoyable.

Repeated lines in chapter 2.

As a first-time reader of Ms. Moone’s shifters, I felt like I needed more depth into the instant -love that happened between shifters or shifter/human. The story was a little predictable but it was a good read. I listened to the whole collection from Eric and Janine to Sean and Erin. The story followed a timeline and continued to give us a full story. I loved all the shifter men. They were strong, capable with a side of superhero. As for the women, Janine was a strong character and I would have loved to see her character developed a little more. I loved Felicity’s character. I felt her confusion and hurt when she realized that her own hometown people were vandalizing her parents' home because of her association with the shifters. I was left with a few questions in the end but overall the story was great.

Audry Lusk, the narrator of the Alpha Squad, does a great job with most of the characters. Her reading and acting of the story is great. I really lost myself in the story. Her accents were incredible, but I had trouble with the male shifter voice for Eric, Adam, and Sean. A male reading the male shifters role would have been better. These shifters are big burly men and as such I want to hear a deep burly voice. But overall, she did an amazing job especially with the male Scottish voices and again her accent was amazing.

I love a good shifter romance, and I love a quick read – this book was both. I was able to finish this in about a day and I enjoyed every minute of it; I just wish there was more to it. Every author has a different way of writing shifter romances, so I’m never sure how I will like it. This was my first read by this author and I was impressed, with her shifter styling and her writing. She grabbed my interest within the first few pages and kept it throughout the entire book.

There was an intensity between Eric & Janine that they just couldn’t get away from. It’s surprising others in the room didn’t get what was going on. I liked how the author wrote the characters and how they interacted together; most men don’t handle it well when a female is in charge, especially in the military sense, but Eric wasn’t too bothered by it (could be because of his lack of military background before Alpha Squad but either way he was ok with it). Like I said before, each author has different ways of handling shifters abilities, shifting in general, and matings/true mates. In this case true mates are able to hear each others thoughts & that was pretty neat. I don’t want to give much more away, so I will just say this – the author had some different ideas, new to me at least. This book was enjoyable and if you’re into sexy shifter romances (not too over the top sexy though) or military reads, this is the perfect combo of both!

I really like Eric and Adam, Blackwood is almost too happy for my liking, never having an off moment through the first part of the book. I'm not sure what to make of Bentley and I'm wondering why Cooper has been selected for this particular group. Bentley I can see. Blackwood and the King brothers I can see. I really like Janine. She's fun. Her assistant Callahan is a blast. Especially when Janine realizes Callahan is on her side. I love the phases of training the men go through and what Janine and Callahan do. What exactly is Alpha Squad? What is this Boot Camp? Who is General Stone? What does he want to see happen? What about Oliver Teese? What does he want? Who ends up the victor with regards to what they want? You're going to have to read to find out! Lots of fun reading this book to see how it was started.

I had the privilege to listen to this series on audible Narrated by Audrey Lusk and I have to say that I loved it! I loved how Audrey told this story, her voice was so melodic it had me in a trance. This series started off with a big bang! I love a shifter story but this one was excellent and I can't say enough about this story. I do not want to give it away but I will give you a simple review for you to get the jist of the story.

The world has found out that there are shifters amongst them and are afraid. They do not want to be attacked and want to know they are going to be safe. So the government sets up a task force with the shifters and humans. The shifters are represented by Eric King and the human representative is Janine Williams. As these two work together things start to heat up when Eric realizes that Janine is his true mate.

Can Eric convince Janine that she is his true soul mate? Or will Janine going to run the other way?

This was my first book by this author, and I was immediately hooked on her writing style. I love bear-shifter stories, and this one quickly became one of my favorites. Eric and Janine have chemistry in spades, and their instant "true mate" connection was beautifully written. It's a tough assignment to have a strong male character retain his alpha leadership status when his mate not only outranks him but is his boss, but Ms. Moone pulls it off effortlessly. Eric is downright swoon-worthy, and his determined pursuit of Janine once he realizes she's his mate was so much fun to read. My goal now is to read everything in this series, then everything else by this author. It's that good. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I received a free copy from the author via AXP.com; this is my honest review.
I loved the way Janine and Eric met the first time, then the second time around. How unexpected for them!
I loved the sex scene; it wasn't erotica or steamy but it felt like a cozy "finally, I have you naked and in my bed".
I loved the way Janine had to go through and decide between ethics from her conscience and orders from above.
I loved the way Eric took care of his brother during the whole time they were on base.
What I would've loved to see was an actual assignment and how the team, after all that prepping, worked together. Maybe in Book #2?

Shortish shifters book"
This story is really good, but the characters could have used some more development.
I'd also would have expected to see more shifting going on, there is some going on but mostly it's just mentioned.
The narration is good but she doesn't get the male characters voices very well.
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this voluntary review.

I loved this mix of military and shifters. Janine may be female, but her ranking in the military and attitude during training show that she is a woman who's fiercely independent and in no way does she need Eric to swoop in and be her man. I loved that even though Eric has found his mate he doesn't just come in and take over he actually follows Janine's lead. This was a really great story and Audrey's accent and wonderful narration helped set the story perfectly.

This was a great start to a new series! Eric and Janine were both really likeable and had good chemistry. We also met other members of the squad and enjoyed these shifters and humans learning to work together. Secondary characters interacted well with the story leaving us wanting to know more. Adam, Eric's brother was one member we look forward to reading about.

Awesome❤️

Awesome intro to a series, that is set as a spin-off from the Scottish Were-Bear Series. In my opinion, this book would be better understood by reading the Scottish Were-Bear Series. That being said, this book was a fantastic read by itself. Looking forward to the next book!!

Interesting plot.
Eric is a real sweetheart from the get go and Janine is military to her boots.
I liked the ide of a ragtag group of shifters and humans coming together and becoming a team even though they are against the odds.
I'm looking forward to reading the next story.

What a great start to a new series! Shifters have recently "come out" to the public and a joint shifter/human agency called Alpha Squad has been formed. The mis-matched group of recruits have to learn to work together in increasingly more difficult training exercises. The main characters- Eric and Janine - feel a strong attraction but fight it as she is his commanding officer. There are hidden agendas and conflicts that keep the pages turning.

A Little different. This is all about putting shifters and non-shifters together as a team.
Starting when shifters are just "coming out" to the world.
I would give other books in the series a chance, just to see how it turns out.

Unexpected
Another great start to a fascinating series. This is an awesome foundation base to what's sure to be a great series. The spin off from the ending of Lorelei's Scottish Werebears series is amazing. I'm excited to have more stories of her bear Shifters to read, and can't wait for more in 2017!
Eric didn't volunteer but did as he was asked when the leader of The New Alliance asked him to join the taskforce Alpha Squad- a joint effort between shifters and humans to supposedly to bridge the gap between them, which was supposed to be only on paper not an actual thing. But they think it's vital to have one of their own on the inside of the team. The last thing he expected to find when joining the taskforce to police super naturals if needed, was his human mate. Can he keep their relationship strictly professional?
Janine was handed the assignment which was supposedly a promotion - but not really, of setting up the Alpha Squad. Which had highly unqualified shifters (who are stronger than regular people, so they'll more than likely be harder to control), how are they going to react to a woman being in charge of the operation? Street getting to know the squad, she begins to think that maybe they could make a real go at this thing. However one of the bear shifters makes it tough to keep her thoughts professional, can she do it when their connection is different than she's ever felt before?
Too see is they're successful at setting up the joint taskforce with so many obstacles in their way as well as to see what happens between Eric and Janine you'll have to read ALPHA SQUAD: BOOT CAMP. This is a standalone story that coincides with the Scottish Werebear series. Check out Scottish Werebear: An Unexpected Affair to find out where it all began. I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review. This story is intended for adult audiences only.

NERDY DIRTY&FLIRTY REVIEW 3 1/2 STARS

I have been getting more and more into shifter books. So I was excited to read this one. It was definitely interesting, and different.

Janine, also the Major, is called in to lead a special task unit called the Alpha Squad. A few months prior, shifters had come out to the world, so this unit was to help work along side any agencies, especially law enforcement, when it came to any kind of shifter affairs. The orders for this unit to be put together was direct orders from parliament. They were to be put through intense military training. But not everyone wanted them to succeed. Janine is left between a rock and a hard spot. Doing what she is told to do, or what her heart tells her. Not only does she have all that hanging over her head, she also has this crazy pull to one of the shifter recruits.

Eric doesn't want to be apart of the Alpha Squad, but he goes along with it because he wants to try and make a difference. As a bear, he wants the gap between humans and shifters to be closed with as much understanding and ease as possible. He also helped lead the New Alliance, a shifter organization, when the shifters came out to the world. Little did he know, the Major in charge of his new squad, is someone more important to him, and his bear, than just his superior. But with the stakes already stacked against the whole operation, it makes things harder for both of them.

I enjoyed how different this one was. I like stories where the supernatural is opened to the world, and this one was. Even though it was the early stages of it, it was still interesting. I loved seeing the individuals work and become a team together. Which is what the military is about. This just added to my love for shifters.

This review is for the book and the Audible

Wow if you think Lorelei Moone's books are great reads. You
are so going to love the Audible books even more. I think
I have read all her books. But man this new series is great
and the narrator for this was wonderful. Loved how she used
voice inflection to show depth was and how she gave each
character a voice. You could feel the conceding tone for
Captain Bentley the human spec ops guy, the tired sound to
Eric, or the excitement to his brother Adams voice. The steel
in Janine the tough as nails Major. And you could hear each
emotion the characters felt. Loved the Scottish accent added
for wolf shifter was amazing.

Now about the book.

Oh how I loved this new series by Lorelie Moone. I adored
her Scottish Werebear series and this one is even better.
This book is written so well that it flows nicely and seamlessly
from one page to the next. So much so I was at the end
before I knew it. I cannot wait to see what happens
with the alpha squad next.

This book is about Eric and Janine. She is the major in
charge of, well not wiping them into shape. She has orders
to make them fail. But she is determined to see them
succeeded. Even if doing so means disobeying orders and
could end her career. And Eric is the big burly bear shifter
that is assigned to her squad. Along with Eric he has his
brother, a wolf, and 2 humans. They have to learn how to
work together to make this work. And Eric is having a hard
time as he keeps hearing her thoughts. And he is hoping that
she can hear his, as for that may change everything. It is a
phenomenon that only occurs between mates. So if she can
hear him too? He would be so happy. But also as a leader in
his former job, could be a challenge to Janie.

Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do; they value your opinions too.

I read this book as an ARC for 2 girls who love books blog. Alpha Squad was a really quick read and I wondered as I neared the end, how it would wrap up so quickly.

I've not read any other the previous back story of the shifters and humans or the New Alliance but could get the jist of it as I read this book.

Major Janine Williams heads up Alpha Squad as their commanding officer and provides military training for the humans and shifters team....a task at which they should never pass. With Callahan by her side, they strive to succeed.

Eric is a shifter....a Bear. He imprints on his true love but how receptive will they be!? Adam is also a bear shifter, can he stay out of trouble? Blackwood is a shifter of another kind, Bentley is a human who struggles with the human/shifter relationship and Cooper just wants to be part of the team.

Janine struggles to concentrate on the task in hand, that voice talking to who. Who is it? How to ignore it and deal with the task in hand! Whose orders to follow out....General Stone or Oliver Tesse MP? To succeeed or to make them fail?

A good read, fast as I said and whilst can be read as a standalone, does lead into the next book that is due out soon. It is a good base for what will be a good series.

This is a great spinoff of Lorelei Moon's "Scottish Werebear" series. Alpha Squad is formed after shifters reveal themselves to the world. Their purpose is to build a joint taskforce between shifters and human authorities and learn how to police and protect each other, but some higher ups don't want it to succeed. Eric King will do what is asked of him from the New Alliance but he is distracted by thoughts of a woman he met at a convient store. Major Janine Williams is assigned to lead the Alpha Squad but her orders disturb her when she is informed the squad must fail. When she meets her recruits, a wolf, two humans and two brother bears she believes the squad will succeed and be useful for the greater good. The connection between Janine and Eric starts at their first meeting at the store and continues to get stronger as time goes but Eric gives her time to accept they are ment to be together before pushing for more. Sparks definitely fly when Janine can't fight it anymore but they must keep their relationship secret until after boot camp is finished. If you like shifter stories with strong minded characters this is for you. Can't wait it for more.

Thank you Lorelei Moon

Eric King has been asked to be an advocate for his group. Janine Williams has been given an assignment that goes against the grain. It’s a story that brings up thoughts of segregation and bigotry. Just because this piece is fictional doesn’t mean that you can’t feel sorry for the characters that the author has created. That just means that the author has done a great job in getting the reader involved.

We have two characters that can’t ignore the pull of what some might consider forbidden. You can see how the connection of Eric and Janine builds over time. Because of their positions, she fights what they both want but when they finally both give in to that siren call it’s very carnal. What impressed me about Janine is that she did what was right and not what she was told. What was great about Eric’s character is that he didn’t judge Janine for what she was told but supported her in doing what is right. This is a story that I will enjoy more than once. I also look forward to seeing how this series is going to develop.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Alpha Squad is a bit different than any of the books I'm used to reading from Lorelei Moone.

Shifters have been revealed to humans now. Like with anything new to humans, there are some who are weary of shifters.

Major Janine Williams is tasked with training the first ever Alpha Squad. This department will deal with shifter and human affairs. She's always been able to keep everyone at a professional level. But there's something about one of her recruits she just can't get him out of her head...literally.

Eric King has been tasked with joining Alpha Squad, although he can't see any reason why this would work. What he never expected was to find a woman that makes his bear stand up and take notice. Now he's got his work cut out to make Janine notice him and help make sure Alpha Squad succeeds even when higher ups would see it fail.

Not sure if the author purposely left the issues with Stone left unfinished for him throughout the series or not, but it would've been nice to see what his issues are with Alpha Squad. Maybe he just has issues with shifters.
