Brie’s mission to assassinate Director Cromwell has failed. She’s been taken captive. She knows nothing of what’s happened to Adryan. She is completely lost and alone.

Waking in a small, dark room, with her powers gone, she’s completely helpless. Resigned to defeat, she knows it’s merely a matter of time before her fate is fully sealed. And with it, perhaps the fate of the Nameless too, and everyone else she cares about.

Is it over for Brie? Is it over for everyone?

This series has a good story, and I liked the characters. My only issue, and this continued through all 10 books, is the repetitiveness of all the statements. I can only read "I hate him" (in different words or the same, doesn't matter) so many times before I am sick of hearing it. So, in the later books, I found that I could spot another paragraph that would summarize the same feelings again and I was skipping paragraphs because it was just text with nothing actually happening. The character's inner dialogue was not that important in the story... which brings me to think that this might be nit-picky and maybe this was just a younger reading level (a teen might need these things spelled out for them). However, I would not want my young child reading about the wars, because of the (very well done) descriptions of blood and gore. So, good reads, they drew me in and kept me reading, but I could have used less repetition over the known info and known feelings.

still can’t stop reading

I have been happily surprised. Needing a reprieve from my personal daily overload I have found it through T. C.
I have found myself engaged and surprised from book 1 which I began on audio. I find myself unable to stop and not go on to the next and the next book. The few audiobooks available got me hooked and the lack of the next story did not deter me from it.
The way the story unfolds and the complex worlds made easy to read and intoxicating. This reminds me of how much work and effort it takes to make such a distortion. Complex made easy to understand and a magnet pulling you into this amazing world that is exciting, beautiful, terrifying, and amazing all at the same time. The books are fast page turners and here I am on my way to the next. Thank you to the author - just what my life and mind need.

Personal development

In this book Brie is swept along with the flow of everything happening around her. She doesn't have much control at all. It's easy to give up when everything seems hopeless. The fact that she has people she cares about saves her in my opinion. She can make herself be strong for others but not really for herself. The revelations of the greater world around Haven are awe inspiring too. This book ends on a bit of a bitter note. I love this series. It absolutely keeps me captivated and eagerly awaiting more.

I very much enjoyed this book. While there was more introspection happening in this book than in some of the previous ones, since Brie was being held in captivity for a good part of the book, there was plenty of action, and mind/heart-rending decisions being forced upon her later. There were a lot of twists and turns and unexpected people showing up as well. I highly recommend this book and this whole series.

Can't put it down!

This series so far has me on the edge of my seat! I can't put it down if I tried. I take it everywhere with me so I can read it every chance I get! I'm reading these in a day! I get little sleep because I am so drawn into Brie's world and the war between slavery and humanity! Onto the next book I go!

This adventure explores a new world and new opportunities. It will also question your sense of humanity, what it the right thing to do. Would you agree of what is happening or what sacrifices there must be done, or would you oppose them. This story is a battle of what is right or wrong. It is a world that is at war...does the means justify the ends?

So far I have enjoyed this series, but it is super repetitive and I feel as though it takes forever to finish. Obstacles keep popping up and I want to see how it plays out, but this is book 5 of 10. Knowing that it's important to keep in mind that the series has 5 more books to play out. Hopefully, it gets better during that time period and I do not fall asleep while reading it.

I have the omnibus edition of this series so will just say that book five continues Brie's battle, though is now a captive of the enemy.

It's a very good, fast-paced story though I do think it could have been part of the last or the next installment. Luckily, I have the whole set - a great deal.

Really like this series

This is a good series. The first third of this book was not as enjoyable as the rest of the series but after that was really enjoyable. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

I am still enjoying this series and wish to continue to the next in the series. I am pleasantly surprised as it seems like a young adult story but does not fall into syrupy romantic clichés like others I have read.

Unusual story

Now what can happen next. Failed rejected poor Brie. This author has some work to do. We shall see. Hoping!

Book 5

What an adventure. Fighting the good fight, trying to defeat the enemy without becoming as heartless as they are. Is it possible?

Good though I skipped past Bries repetitive inner musings more than once. I do NOT trust Cornelia. Nope. Nope nope.

This is a fantastic series. The world building and character building was awesome. This would make a wonderful movie or tv series!! I can't wait to delve into the other books by this Author.

The series is really quite good. Really! There is quite a bit of repetition in Brie’s thoughts and it is, of the 7 of 10 books I’ve read thus far, most repetitive in this book. I originally rated this book as a 3* due to self recrimination, misplaced blame, repetition and the ending. Her relationship with some person did not go the way I wanted it to. Life’s a b**** that way.

I’m re rating this as a 4 however because I am over the relationship let-down, and learned I misremembered how that came to a head. The self recrimination is mildly annoying, but I’ve read books that I absolutely love (two other series come to mind) where it was far, far worse.

I began reading the Olympus/Chosen books a couple years after finishing the 7th book in this series, and the way the author presented two characters in that other series made me wish I could read their povs, and much to my surprise, I *already* had read most but not all of this series. So I’m on my second read through and have purchased the entire series, as well as the Chosen series, so I may read them again anon. I have yet to read the other two series interlinked with The Enhanced and The Chosen (Olympus) books. (Forgetting books is a specialty of mine, given how many I read per year, and that’s for others, not myself.)

As usual, (with the previous line excluded) this review is written for future-me. Near-future-me needs to decide whether or not to purchase the two series I do not own. Thankful for the author’s warning prior to the final book in the Chosen (children of the prime, Olympus, etc etc) that let me know these series are all related! I’ve not finished that book as of this writing. I’ve already for gotten the name of the main character in Chosen lol ahhhh well. I’ll recognize it as I do the characters herein that appear there as well.

Ok, I have started to dislike Brie so much!
So first of all I have to say that....Is it me or Brie definitely became dumber? I mean she doesn't care about anything but her own good. She doesn't care about the mission she was given, she makes the poorest choices, and at the end someone else (coff coff Zander) always has to help her to get away from trouble. She is so reckless.

Another thing I dislike so much about her is her so called "husband". Like "come on Brie! He's not your husband! Get it in your head! It's crystal clear that Adryan "loves" his late wife". Brie and Adryan were forced to get married, they were forced to live together and what bothers me the most is that Adryan doesn't feel anything for Brie! Brie complains so much about Savants but she fell in love with one, and I don't care that she claims that Adryan's different, he's still a Savant who doesn't and can't feel love. I won't buy that love story. At the end though, she had it coming. She risked her life, her brother's life, Nameless' lives and all for what? For NOTHING.

And finally Brie is so so so stubborn. She has to realize that the world doesn't revolve around her. Adryan's fate was to die, so let it be! Rescuing him was a reckless idea. I like Adryan. He's nice and all but that's it. Brie is blind. She doesn't love him! You don't love a person that you've met around a week ago.

Brie always acts on her feelings, so I'm definitely sure she wasn't made for war unlike Zander. Brie isn't a soldier. She can't fight, but oh well. I hope someone puts her in her place so she can finally realize that if she wants to save the world, sacrifices must be made!

Let's see what happens on book six. I so hope Brie stops feeling butterflies for her "husband", and that she takes real action once and for all.

Well here we are at a point that has been reached in the past but with more to lose.

I have read some of the reviews/complaints of this story. I find that it still appeals to me and I still a guessing at what is next. The ups and downs of the tale keep me guessing and I like that. This book has answered some of my questions and raised enough others so that I want to read the next book and even another if there will be one.
