The term ‘Maya’ may mean different things for different people, but in general it gives the meaning that it is mysterious, magical, and such. The term ‘Maya’ may be familiar to some of the readers mainly because many women are named Maya. It may also be familiar to many because of the Maya Civilization that existed in the Mesoamerican region of North America. ‘Māyā’ is a Sanskrit word that is pronounced as ‘Maayaa’. The meaning of Māyā is said to be – deceptive image of the Reality, false notions, illusive power, illusory, illusion, unreal, and such. Māyā is that which obscures the true nature of the Self. Many Hindu religious sects incorporate the concept of Māyā into their philosophy. But the concept of Māyā in these philosophical systems is not exactly the same.
