I've written 17 books on different aspects of astrology, meditation and self-development. I do my best to make these subjects as woo-woo-free and practical as possible.
My Mind Won't Shut Up! was written with my sister Linda. We're sturdy-legged, chip eating meditating sisters from Scotland. The world needs a panpipe-free, meditation book for people like us - with money worries, weird families and short attentions spans. www.mymindwontshutup.com
The Little Book of Astrology was written to encourage beginners to move past Sun signs and delve into what can be lifetime's study. I've been learning about at my own astrology chart and the charts of the people in my life, for over 30 years. I still find new things about the birth charts all the time - just as I discover new things myself and the people around me. Twitter: @_I_am_astrology
I edited the Prediction magazine for ten years, the UK's first Mind, Body, Spirit magazine first published in 1936. Since then I've worked as an author, editor and ghostwriter with astrology columns in: TVTimes, TVEasy, Essentials, Soaplife and Angler's Mail. www.marionwilliamson.com
I thought this was a well put together astrology book for people who were unfamiliar with the subject. The book introduces the reader with a definition of astrology, its history and the different types of astrology explored in various cultures. From there you get an explanation of the sun sign, moon sign, planets and the astrological relationships; each of these explanations is followed with examples using the zodiacs. The author also explains the birth chart, using an example date of birth, demonstrating to the reader how it’s used. This book is packed with good amount of information on astrology, without being too long-winded or jargon oriented. I’d recommend this to anyone unfamiliar with astrology, who wants a concise book to start reading, to gain foundation knowledge. However, there’s more detailed and specialised book on astrology to seek further knowledge, the author even recommends other books on astrology to read. Overall, I was satisfied with this book, it’s an easy and concise read, and it’s well presented.
4* Such an aesthetically pleasing book! The Little Book of Astrology is beautiful inside and out, design of all the pages is simply STUNNING. I also enjoyed the content, I've been getting more and more into astrology these past few months, I love reading about it!
Very useful and also very pretty little guide to astrology! Great to fall back on as a work of reference and it’s really well written, formulated and shaped!
Great source for beginners in astrology, except it might confuse the readers as the author mentioned some of the best matches in love relationships and in other pages she mentioned that they are the worst matches, I think maybe it could be typos but anyway It would be much better If she explained them more in detailed way, despite that it is still a great book.
Coming in with previous knowledge of astrology, I knew some of the information given. However, as the title suggests its a little book of astrology. It doesn't go into detail for more immediate or advanced astrologers/students would need. It doesn't add any unique interpretations. It simplifies a lot of concepts and reuses the same adjectives. Also, it doesn't break down generational planets —the only one called one was Pluto— and generalizes most of the planet placements by their elemental signs. (e.g. Saturn in Water Signs, Venus in Fire Signs, etc.) I think that breaking up the signs until Mars would be best, instead of clumping them together despite their similarities.
Though most beginning astrologers are interested in compatibility, I found that using a good chunk of the book to explain using the sun signs tedious. I personally skimmed the chapter or simply just flipped through the section with no interest. The sun signs are just a small part of compatibility while the Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars come into play as well. But, I'm a bit advanced compared to people who would need this book.
The design throughout the book is aesthetically pleasing. There are a couple of pages with quotes relating to astrology. The book also gives the basics and can be used as a quick reference for more advanced astrologers.
If someone is interested in astrology and wants to start, this is the book to go for. Simple and straightforward.
I’ve always been interested in astrology but the last few years have been a constant lesson about this subject for me. . This book is such an easy read and it makes it so easy for anyone to understand anything about astrology. I’ve always wanted to know how to read a birth chart and this books makes it a lot easier to understand it! . The descriptions are short but very helpful and the language is accessible but it has a magical tint to it. . I felt overwhelmed with happiness at every page so I have to say that this book (even though it’s not my usual fantasy read) was a really amazing read for me!
L'astrologia mi fomenta curiosità e interesse da sempre, quindi un manualuccio di base dovevo averlo. Non bisogna mai prendere tutto per oro colato, ma ragionarci su mi intrattiene come poche cose. Come libro è strutturato bene, seppur non approfondito all'osso.
It is a very good book for beginners (it contains more than the normal zodiac signs that we know and everything is explained very well and there are many examples). This book has a lot of information and takes a little time to read
I liked that it had sites and apps at the end so we could get more information, though I didn't agree with some of the information in the book I think it explains basic astrology very well
A couple of years ago, I went through an astrology phase, but now I really do feel like I'm over it. This book gave information on all sorts of detailed elements of a person's star chart but never explained how to find out yours, without saying "just Google it."
I chose to read the book, so I can't really go down the horoscopes are bollocks route, but after actually "Googling it," I ended up reading a load of information that just really really felt contrary to me and actually just inaccurate.
I think my astrology days are over and thos book will be passed on.
Great little introductory book to astrology for those who are beginners / new to the subject. For more advanced reading, the author has listed more books to visit which is great but if this is all you need, it is well laid out, informative and easy to understand.
