I really liked this book. At first I had a hard time "keeping up," because it switched from one character to another in what seemed to be unconnected events----but it didn't take long to become engrossed in this York, England, Christian Suspense novel!
Let's take a look at the characters: Zafar. A recent widower, he gets caught in rush hour stoppages. Frustrating for anyone, but for someone already feeling some anguish, even more so. He envisions how easy it would be for someone--or many someones--to take out hundreds of people in this type of heavy traffic situation. Emma: A nurse goes on a too-much-to-drink spree and falls from a tall building, breaking her neck and killing her instantly. Except... Calvin. Raised by an evangelist who healed others but beat his son. Calvin believes in God, believes in miracles, but isn't so sure Jesus will use him. He's homeless and a less-than-desirable character. He sees the woman falling, hears the splat as she hits the ground. Blood--lots of blood. She isn't breathing. He prays fervently, but is chased away by Emma's friend Rachel, who is certain Calvin is up to no good. Danny. A detective is offered a promotion but doesn't want it. He's always felt, well, called, to be a detective, but now his boss wants him to work on terrorist activities--which they don't really have any of in York. Why? Mary. She's been having nightmares every night. People are falling down, dead, killed by invaders. She's losing sleep because she can't close her eyes without reliving the dream. And Najwa. A Muslim girl, she's begun reading the Bible.
What do these people have in common? One very frighteningly real episode.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
After meeting the author in person, I thought I would give his fiction book a read. It definitely isn't for people who need a book to hit straight away with the action... as it is more of a slow burner. I imagine it like the pilot episode of a new TV show - setting up the characters, giving their back stories and preparing for action that only starts to take place nearer the end of the book. There are a lot of characters, so be prepared for that! I got into it eventually and I am looking forward to seeing where he takes the characters with the next instalment of this book.
