This was a dirty talking Alpha good time.
Gage Falcon is the kind of Alpha I enjoy. He is possessive, caring, and has a great heart that he doesn't mind letting show. What makes him even more hotter in my book is the fact he's a single dad raising his son by himself. Brand. So cute. Him and Gage have quite the special bond.
Gage recently uncovered some secrets his ex-wife and his own mother has been keeping from him. He's not taking it too well and has decided to take a vacation and lose himself in some willing bodies that are just looking for a night of release. He hits an out of the way bar to meet up with his hookups looking forward to some stress relief, but instead what he gets is cock blocked by the feisty bartender, Phoenix.
Phoenix Star is so over men. She has been wronged in the past and has a hard time letting people get too close. She has worked hard to finish college and is headed on a new path in life. She's not sure where that path may lead but she knows it's not going to be in Gage's bed. Even if she secretly wants to be there. She is hell bent on making it on her own in life and finding out who she is. But the more she runs into Gage and the more he runs that dirty mouth the more her defenses crumble. The man is just too hard to resist.
The chemistry between these two was sizzling. The sex was hot. They tried their best to keep it casual but soon attraction wasn't the only thing they were feeling for each other.
There is only a touch of angst which I appreciated. There is quite of bit of family drama surrounding Gage but it was well written and didn't come off feeling soap opera-y.
I really enjoyed this and even though I can't fathom liking Brands mother because she was such a complete biotch in this book, I do still want to read it. I am really interested to see how her and Garrett's story will play out. Plus I've read some really great reviews for it.
If you love a strong sexy Alpha who's dirty talk will end up making you change your undies, than this is a book for you. lol

This book has high ratings?? I just don't get why!!
There's nothing more that I hate when a man thinks he's a god's gift to women.
This zero because I won't call him a hero was obnoxious piece of sh*t.

And I here I was liking the heroine not taking crap from him when she met him and cockblocking him but....she gets wet and starts to pant like a dog everytime she sees him.
He's using the pub where she works for hook ups, he also has a f*ck app where he finds his hook ups, he waits for the women there, he never goes home with them and doesn't sleep with them but that it's enough for me to hate him.

This wasn't my first book by Mrs. Fields and it won't be my last... because I'm enjoying her stories!!!
"Hammered" was a good reading, but it didn't rock my world, as "The truth about love" duet did!!!

Yep, there was a sassy heroine, an alpha male and some serious secrets that made the story enjoyable, but that's it!!!!
Phoenix was a fierce and sassy girl and i liked how impulsive she was...
She had a bad relationship before and she didn't want any man to complicate her life...
She was trying to put her life in order since she had just finished college...
The last thing she needed was Gage Falcon to turn her life upside down...
Gage was the classical alpha male guy....
He was used to have everything he wanted the time that he wanted, and Phoenix was making his life difficult...
Gage had some serious problems with his ex wife and his precious little boy.... And not only that, the things are getting more and more complicated in his life... Family, business and Phoenix are messing with his heart and mind...
Their relationship was interesting, messy and fierce, but there were many problems that were standing between them...
Will they be able to fight all those shits that are coming on their way???
Except Gage and Phoenix, there were many interesting characters inside this book... and I'm really curious about the other two brothers.... especially Garrett.... I think that i need to read his story because i have so many questions about him and julianna!!!

Excellent book!! Loved this story and all of its characters. Gage is a straight forward filthy speaking man that takes no shit. Phoenix is a short smart ass woman who can hold her own. They are a perfect match for each other. There's enough sex and drama to keep you entertained the whole time.

Book Review For: Hammered MJ Fields Hammered by M.J. Fields My rating: 4 of 5 stars 'Hammered' MJ Fields is book One in the "Steel Country" series. This is the story of Gage Falcon and Phoenix Star. Phoenix has graduated college and now is working to earn money to take her on the next step in her life. Phoenix settles in to work two jobs and also work off some of her rent by doing the lawn. Phoenix is a independent women who doesn't take handouts. While she is bartering she meets Gage who seems to be trying to hook up with a call girl. Phoenix shows him a lot of shade and ends up having the girl walkaway. Phoenix sees the guy leave and then the next day he is at her other job she works at as a waitress. It seems she isn't getting away from him when while push mowing the lawn around the barn near where she lives at he appears again but this time she finds out he is the actually landlord of the place and has returned home. Gage is walking around with a big chip on his shoulders because he just found out that the son he loves so much isn't his son...although he has divorced his wife it just another blow to his life. So when he goes into the bar that night its just to hook up and get a release of sorts. But the bartender is so hot he tries to throw her some of his charm but she is not having it. Once the women he called to be his lady of the night leaves he leaves the bar too. That night he can't get the bartender out of him mind and the next morning at a breakfast meeting he sees her waiting tables. They have a quick interaction that doesn't go well again. When he finally learns who she is and that she is a renter on his land he tries talking to her again. But they still but heads until the one person they both care about gets hurt. This starts them coming together but there is still upsetting news to come for Gage. Will he be able to move past all of his issues and move forward with Phoenix? If he does, will Phoenix start being less independent? SUPERB story!! My copy needed some editing. This book was a spinoff of another series. I can only imagine that those are incredible as well. There were a few scenes that were a bit of a reunion from the other series. Not having read those is a bit annoying, but it didn't detract too badly from this one.

When I first came across this book and its awesome reviews about a dirty talking, alpha male I thought yes that's for me. Unfortunately Hammered didn't work for me at all. I didn't like Phoenix and I didn't like Gage. That means this should have been a DNF but being that this was my 3 book of the New Year I made myself deal with it and continued on. I'm sorry to say it never got better for me. I didn't enjoy the writing and I felt no connection between the H/h.

This is the perfect book if you like your heroes possessive, dirty talking, protective and a little on the damaged side. The heroine is petite but one tough cookie. She’s not afraid to step into a bar fight or take on this heroes villains.
There is not a lot of angst between this couple, but there is plenty regarding his family. There is most definitely other woman drama but it’s made clear from the very beginning that Gage has no desire for her. The sex is out of this world steamy with a few things you don’t find frequently in romance – and nothing in the BDSM stratosphere. While I wasn’t a fan of Gage in the beginning – a little too vulgar and aggressive without the proper motivation – I did enjoy him and Phoenix together.

MJ Fields had straight up ruined me for all other book boyfriends. Gage Falcon is the man we all want. He possesses all of the traits we women want, no need in a man.

I Will say I was a bit surprised (in a good way) to get a little misty eyed with this book. Brand and Gage's situation broke my heart. I cried for the little boy who had to deal with so much heartache, but to see him bounce back and love fiercely had me weeping for joy. This series broke my heart but left us with the start of a great series that you won't want to miss.

What happens when Gage Falcon tries to relax but finds a woman who pushes all his buttons? She irritates him, doesn't take his sh*t, she's intelligent, and turns him on like no other woman ever has. I don't know how she does it - MJ Fields just knows how to write men in a way that just makes me fall for them time after time. First it was the Caldwell Brothers and their friends, the Men of Steel, Trae of the Seattle Stallions, and now Gage Falcon. He uttered words that I really should've found repulsive and cringe-worthy, but I found myself having a decidedly different reaction to them. I love a romance between two damaged people and MJ Fields delivers that beautifully. From the very first chapter and the very first encounter between Gage and Phoenix I was sucked in to the story and really didn't want it to end. She just knows how to write women that I can relate to - women that struggle with what life throws at them, yet who refuse to give up - and gorgeous, dirty-talking alpha men that fall hard and completely. She also handles family drama with such skill. It's just a joy and a pleasure reading her words.
As obsessed as I am with the Caldwell's (I've read all 3 of the brothers' books SEVERAL times), I think I might love the Falcon brothers even more - I can't wait to meet the other two! I give this book 4.75 out of 5 stars and MJ Fields has solidified her place as a "must read" author for me.

Hammered is the story of Gage Falcon. Gage is the oldest brother with the weight of the world on his shoulders. His very broad, tattooed, rich, and smoking hot shoulders. He doesn't do relationships. The main love of his life is his son.. and he is an amazing dad. While trying to hook up with something easy and no strings attached he runs into the worst cock block ever.... who happens to be 5 foot and gorgeous. However, Phoenix isn't so easily won over, but Gage is definitely UP for the challenge. Gage has to battle his libido, his heart, and everything of importance to him in this attention grabbing book!
Phoenix is the PERFECT mc! She is petite but sassy. You will not find a weak heroine in Phoenix star (even if her name does sound like that of a porn star). She is strength personified and doesn't take any of Gage's crap... which I love! I love her strength and her sass, I don't feel like I got to know her as well as I did Gage throughout the book, but she is still amazing!
Right from the beginning of this book I did not like Gage. He comes across as a foul mouthed (the foulest I have ever read/heard), egotistical, manwhore! He truly is not likable in the least... but then he is. He is a total alpha and a total jerk, but throughout the book there is so much that endears you to him. I felt myself falling for this guy right along with Phoenix.
This book will suck you in right from page one. You will be drawn in by Gage's filthy mouth, and Phoenix's sass. What starts out as a challenge between two strong personalities quickly turns into a story of family, love, and redemption. Really such a great read! And lets not forget the steam... you will definitely need a hot (or cold) shower when this book is finished!

Gage Falcon's life was turned upside down after he divorced his wife. Now he lives his life with iron control, and no desire to ever get in a serious relationship ever again. Phoenix Star's heart was broken, and now she doesn't trust any man, so she's concentrating on becoming the person she's destined to be without help from anyone. The night she meets Gage, she writes him off as a man whore, while insulting him. This doesn't chase Gage off, in fact, it only spurs him on to get her into his bed. The fun really begins when they learn that she's renting her place from him. Now he knows it's only a matter of time before she's in his bed. Hammered was AN AMAZING journey that I devoured in a couple of hours. Gage is drool worthy, even with all of his cave man tendencies, and Phoenix is just AWESOME! I couldn't cheer enough when she would take on people, and not with hair pulling, but real punches, which also had me rolling. Together they exploded into a blaze of fiery flames that will leave any panties in their path, as a pile of ashes. M.J. Fields is one of my very favorites, but she outdid her own brilliant writing style with Hammered, and as I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of her books, I wasn't sure how she would do that, but she raised the bar even higher. She transported me into her world fully from the get go, which had my heart racing cover to cover. The witty and snarky dialogue had me laughing hard until my sides hurt, while insane secrets were revealed so I found myself dropping many loud f-bombs throughout, and I found myself enraged at more than one person. I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next, as I'll always being waiting impatiently! So, in conclusion, I'm shouting from the rooftops how I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hammered to ALL AND SUNDRY!

Wow! this isn't a rollercoaster read or a read with angst, this is two people getting their lives under cotrol,figuring out the next step and in the process finding love.
Gage, a brother from another mother, friends of the men of steel in previous books has been lied to, deceived by his own mother and brother,married a woman who claimed the son he helped bring into the world was his only to find out he wasn't and now after custody battles is a single dad as well as being the owner of a construction company.
Phoenix is working two jobs,fresh out of college and considering her options, has a backstory of a cheating ex with her best friend so also has trust issues and a manwhore hate thing going on.
Phoenix and Gage first meet while Phoenix is working at the bar where Gage is awaiting his hook up from an app his friends gave him, Phoenix catches Gages eye straight away but Phoenyx figures out why he's there when his so called date turns up.
There's insta lust on Gages part who becomes determined to get the feisty Asian looking Phoenix in his bed and theres a lot of work in store for Gage when Phoenix immediately writes him off as a manwhore.
Gage is a dirty talking alpha who doesn’t give up the chase.
An interesting and captivating plot, secrets revealed, humour dotted throughout and lot's of hotness.
Great characters told in dual pov's
I found Hammered finished abruptly with the promise of good things to come but not actually going there so I'm hoping to see more of Phoenix and Gage in Graysons story. Also hoping for Mandee's story Phoenix's best friend.
Recommended hot read and series in The Men of Steel.

Recently divorced Gage Falcon is using an app to have no string hook ups because after his divorce he's sworn off commitment, but when he meets his latest hook up he's more interested in the barmaid, at first I thought he was just douche, but the more I read I really liked Gage, he wasn't like that at all.
Gage successfully runs a construction company and he happens to own Falcon Landing where barmaid Phoenix is living, Phoenix is sassy out spoken no holds bar girl. They've both been burnt by their past, but the banter between them is so funny, that gives the story another dimension to their chemistry, while we also see some of alpha Gage's softer side too when dealing with his family.
I did like this book, it was my first read by this author, the only thing I wasn't too fond of is the way the book ended, it just sort of stopped, but I can't wait to read more by this author.

Hammered is a sexy story with a rough around the edges alpha and a feisty, sweet heroine. First off, I have to say that I LOVE that Phoenix is Asian. It's not every day that romances feature Asian heroines, so it's a treat that I get to read about someone of my own race in a romance. Secondly, I love that she's just plain awesome, sweet, funny and feisty AF! She's more than equal to Gage, the dirty talking, rough around the edges man she falls in love with.
I also have to say that as much as I enjoyed seeing Gage and Phoenix fall, and all the chemistry that they shared, I kind of felt like Phoenix got the short end of the stick. Not that I don't feel Gage really loved her, but, she had to deal with all the shit he and his family caused, and yet, was he really there for her? I didn't really feel as if he was. He was bossy and demanding of her, demanding she do this, not do that, tell him this, tell him that, but yet, she didn't get the same respect from him. It was as if he was 95% of the equation and she only 5%, and that balance is, well, not balanced. I wanted more for her emotionally, and I don't feel she got it. Perhaps in the coming books in this series, Gage and Phoenix will have mentions and their relationship might have more of a balance to it.

A story that has a lot of things going on. First you have Gage Falcon who is part owner of a company that he has helped turn around into a multimillion dollar business. He has some anger but you are made aware of the reasons why as the story goes along. The reasons deal with ex-wife, and mother whom both knew for years that boy he had been raising was not his son. Both of them are not the nicest people and when Gage meets and falls for Phoenix Star who is new in town and also a bartender. The closer that they become the meaner his ex, and mother become to her. Most of this happens when he is not around, and Phoenix does a good job of holding her own. The ex though really goes after her when the boy actually likes Phoenix more than his own mother. As things heat up between Gage and her he takes off early one morning only leaving a text on her phone, not wanting to wake her. Finally after a month goes by and she finds out where he is at and drives to New York. She spends a few days with him and then one morning when he wakes up she is gone and left him a text saying, “had to go you were sleeping did not want to wake you”. Then first time he has had anyone especially a woman who gave it back to him and that is exactly what he needed and he took his butt home to see if he could make it work with her. **4.5 delicious sexy stars!!
So, at first I was a little skeptical because sometimes filthy-mouthed alpha males can just become crude assholes and I haven't read a male character like this in a long time, BUT hot damn....Gage is a sexy MF. And he's honest and caring and is in a position not many--and I mean a very small handful of men, would put themselves in and it made me love him even more.
Phoenix. Love her. She was strong and feisty and took no shit. I also loved the diversity of the characters. It was a nice change.
I took away the .5 for my hesitation in the beginning and it did feel a little insta-love for me, but there is so much plot happening, there wasn't enough development with Phoenix and Gage. I don't like feeling like good sex = love and I felt a little bit of that here, but all in all it was really good.
I decided to start with the Steel brothers stories since they made an appearance and am going to work my way back to Garrett's story. I'm a little hesitant because Juliana is a real bitch in this and I kinda just want her to go away....

I found this book in my Audible Escape and this author is new to me. So began a lover of M.J. Fields!!
Gage Falcon, gorgeous, divorced, tortured soul! Phoenix Star, recent college grad, out on her own.
The opening to this book had me cracking up!! Gage does hook ups and at the bar Phoenix works part-time, Phoenix is a beautiful fire cracker!! Well Gage likes what he sees behind the bar, but is waiting for his hook up.
Phoenix has trust issues, Gage doesn't do relationships. She is looking forward to the summer months before she returns to reality. Gage loves heading to his resort, Falcon's Crest.
What a small world when they each discover each other there!! Madge is a longtime resident there, and she helped raise him and his brothers after their father died. Madge took an instant liking to Phoenix.
This was such a fun, and serious, but steaming hot storyline!! The plot made the storyline flow. The many characters, the witticism, the narrative and of course there is angst, drama filled and lots of action. Non stop flow!! Family, relationships and love!!
I really loved this story, the narrator-John Lane, so in love with his talented voice!! I plan on listening to the series, there are two more brothers!!

Sassy, Sweet and Sexy
Absolutely wonderful! I loved this story. You have a sexy alpha single Dad and a spunky man eater bartender. Gage and Phoenix are great characters who will immediately find a place in your heart.
Working two jobs to raise money for school, Phoenix doesn't have time for players. Having been cheated on by her ex she has her guard up and put men on the back burner. When a hot, sexy man walks into her bar it's very obvious he's looking for one thing and one thing only.

Hammered is full out great characters, not only are the main characters great but I absolutely fell in love with Mags and Brand. The Steel men also pop in and of course we love those guys. The story is fabulous and the writing is outstanding. MJ is one of my favorite authors and if you haven't checked her out you really need to. This is a definite must read.
Absolutely wonderful! I loved this story. You have a sexy alpha single Dad and a spunky man eater bartender. Gage and Phoenix are great characters who will immediately find a place in your heart.
Working two jobs to raise money for school, Phoenix doesn't have time for players. Having been cheated on by her ex she has her guard up and put men on the back burner. When a hot, sexy man walks into her bar it's very obvious he's looking for one thing and one thing only.

Gage Falcon is a dirty talking, no holds barred alpha male. He says what he thinks and gets what he wants.Physically, he is big and strong with tattoos. He also runs a million dollar construction company. He will get down and dirty with his worker and help train them the way he wants them to work. Phoenix Star is a petite, rough around the edges, man hating female. She can talk trash and hold her own with anyone. She is a recent psychology graduate and is planning to further her education. She is working two jobs. When they meet it is both comical and kind of hot. Gage's life is a mess and throughout the story it gets messier. Phoenix keep him grounded and help soothe his anger. I was so angry with the ex and his mother, I almost did not finish reading. I knew he would get a HEA so I powered through. It was worth it. I loved both of these characters. Some of the side characters will make you scream in frustration. Good writing and a good story.
