Orbiting one another’s lives, yet never intersecting, a clandestine meeting finally pushes Opal Fischer within Ginny Jamison’s path.

In the past, in the present, and in the future, both women make a major impact on the lives of the Blended Family. They worry more about their loved ones than themselves, pushing their needs and wants to the back-burner. They themselves are the only ones in their own path to true happiness, by holding onto the debilitating wounds of the past and refusing to let go of their visions of the future.

Opal’s lifelong adage: the sin isn’t in the wanting; it’s in the taking. Will Ginny be able to make Opal realize the sin is actually in the regret of never taking what you want, what you so rightfully deserve?

Wanton (Blended #4) is a full-length Contemporary Romance novel featuring the slowly budding relationship between two females. Warning: a glimpse into future Blended Series books, with sensually erotic scenes featuring f/f & f/f/m. Wanton is approximately 67,000 words in length.

About the author

Erica Chilson

43 books438 followers
Erica Chilson does not write in the 3rd person, wanting her readers to be her characters. Therefore, writing a bio about herself, is uncomfortable in the extreme.

Born, raised, and here to stay, the Wicked Writer is a stump-jumper, a ridge-runner. Hailing from North Central Pennsylvania, directly on the New York State border; she loves the changes in seasons, the humid air, all the mountainous forest, and the gloomy atmosphere.

Introverted, but not socially awkward, Erica prides herself on thinking first and filtering her speech. There are days she doesn’t speak at all. If it wasn’t for the fact that she lives with her parents, giving her a sense of reality, she would be a hermit, where the delivery man finds her months after expiration.

Reading was an escape, a way to leave a not-so pleasant reality behind. Reading lent Erica the courage she gathered from the characters between the pages to long for a different life. Writing was an instrument of change, evolving Erica into the woman she is today- a better, more mature, more at peace thinker.

Erica has a wicked mind, one she pours out into her creations. Her filter doesn’t allow all of it to erupt, much to her relief. Sarcastic, with a very dark, perverse sense of humor, Erica puts a bit of herself into every character she writes.

I reviewed my personal copy of this book for Wicked Reads.

One of the many things I love about the Blended series is the diversity. Wanton gives the story of Opal and Ginny, two women in their early 40s. Opal is a divorced mother and a lesbian with no experience with a woman. Ginny, on the other hand has plenty of experience but has had no luck finding long term love. This is a romance with two adults who have life experience but aren't perfect. Even though they have issues to work through their connection is strong and it felt like they could handle whatever came their way.

Part of the fun of this series is the cast of characters and getting to see them grow and learning about them all through the series. Ginny's thirst for gossip helps us learn more about what is going on in Fairport. Opal's friendship with Robin gives us more juice about what is going on between him, Auggie and Isis and left me hanging for more.

I'll confess however that the highlight of this book for me is Sage Fischer, Opal's teenage son. Sage is openly gay, out spoken, intelligent and strong. Sage's friendship with Weston Mason is fraught with difficulties because of their age difference, even if West looks like a full grown adult, he is too young for Sage. I soaked up every word about Sage and West. I just couldn't get enough. I'm dying to read more about them and know I'll have a wait before we get the full story.

Sweet, emotional, funny and at times very hot, Wanton is great book. If you haven't started the Blended series you are missing out. I can't recommend these books highly enough.

This installment of the Blended series was sweet, touching, insightful, and overall a necessary addition to the series!
We've met both characters, Ginny and Opal, in previous books, but this story is dedicated to them.
I have to admit, I'm not much for f/f erotica - but this transcends just erotica! This is a beautiful story about overcoming obstacles -mostly self imposed, finding yourself, and being comfortable in your own skin. Together these women are able to appreciate each other while learning to accept themselves. (PS: the erotic scenes are HOT!)
A few of the other character's story-lines were touched upon, and advanced - while others were just "toyed" with to keep our anticipation ramped up (in true Erica Chilson fashion).

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

The second that this arrived on my Kindle, I had to start reading, and I did not sleep until I had finished. It is so good that I plan on rereading it over the weekend.

Beautifully written, stunningly hot, and definitely deserving of our attention. This book follows on from Widow, and uncovers more family secrets. It also introduces us to a brand new pairing, which gives the author an opportunity to delve into a number of issues. Ms Chilson has a talent for weaving serious issues around mindblowingly hot stories. I absolutely love the openness and clarity of vision of Opal and Ginny, it is inspiring and comforting. As layers are stripped away, both women reveal so much and gain their own insight, as well as a much deserved new relationship. Their strength of character was never in question, but now they are people fleshed out by their conversations, touches and generosity. As often happens with Ms Chilson's books, I am somewhat jealous, but also wonder if it really could be possible in real life.

This is our fourth visit to Fairport and the Blended series. It makes a great contribution to story-lines, so I would recommend that you do read them in order to gain the full picture. That said, it is so good, that you could just enjoy it as a snapshot of the whole, and then maybe go back and catch up afterwards.

Just to add - on second reading this story is even better. As the desperate need to get to the end of the story had passed, I could enjoy the nuance, the subtleties, and the foreshadowing. I also relaxed more into the sex, the affection, and the warmth, as well as the heat. So very much is revealed in this book, that it is pretty important to make sure you get it straight in your head. After all, there is no doubt at all that Ms Chilson will be taking us down some crooked paths before this journey is done.

Although I sometimes wonder whether I want my daughters to know just what I enjoy reading, I think that they would benefit greatly from some of the knowledge imparted in these books. The insight into how people think, how low self esteem can be so destructive of potentially great relationships, and so many other issues, get me every time I read this author's books. I may hesitate with the Masters and Mistresses of Restraint series, but think that Blended might just be on their new year's reading list.

LOVED Wanton! Whether you're gay, straight, bi, male or female, Erica Chilson's books are not to be missed! If you had asked me a couple years ago if a book focusing on F/F would ever appeal to me, I would have said...Nope, I'm straight it's just not my thing. It wasn't that I disliked the idea or judged homosexuality. It was because I just never had given it much thought. Kinda like the "write what you know" thing, but I was more "read what you know." How unbelievably boring and empty! Yes, I was definitely narrow-minded (and stuck in the 50 Shades sand trap). I worried that because it was such a foreign subject to me, would I be able to truly allow myself to appreciate and enjoy reading about it? Well...I'll be damned!!! Erica has forever changed me and her Mistress and Master of Restraint series is to credit. She writes relationships, love and sex so friggin well that I find the gender of the character(s) to be a moot point. And actually M/M, F/F, M/F/M, and in Wanton's case F/F/M has had some of THE BEST story lines that I have EVER read! What an eye-opener! I totally get it, want it, and obsess about it. I'm addicted!

The Blended series, as a whole, isn't embellished with over the top scenarios. It is in fact a book filled with relatable people and situations that could happen anywhere. Ginny and Opal's story is current, refreshing and beautiful. Both women are strong, independent and just freakin amazing. No other author develops characters like Erica. It's insane! Every facet is thought through and created to perfection. These heroines are not cut out of the pages of a magazine. They are the people next door, each struggling with their own demons and insecurities. Wanton is a journey of self discovery and acceptance. How people sacrifice their own happiness to appease the masses and how some have absolutely no problem accepting the hand dealt to them. Definitely diverse, touching, funny, and hot. Can't wait for more!! You'd be a fool to turn your nose up on this book. FANTASIC addition to the Blended Series. Can be read as a stand alone, but be forewarned, many characters have been developed in previous books.

I received a copy of this book to read and review for the Wicked Reads Review Team.
This book is more than what the author promised, it was suppose to be a short story but it was more. Although the way Erica Chilson writes there really isn't anything short about it. Her short stories have so much depth, she doesn't just give us a wham bam thank you mama. This book was suppose to be a short story about two women finding each other and by the time I got done reading it, I realized that there is so much more to come for these two. Yes, she warned us that this was only a small peak into Opal and Ginny's lives, I found it a tease.
I love the ladies vulnerability, they both see their personal dilemmas/hang-ups as the thing that will push others away. Ginny's hang-up is superficial, it's personal, it's raw for her but nothing to anyone around her because they all love her, everything about her.
Opal knows that she is stuck on her up bringing, that there is a way you are suppose to live, love and act. She is tired of acting she wants to embrace who she is and be truly happy at her own hands.
This book contains sex, HOT and graphic sex. This book can not be read by uptight, people with closed minds. You should read this book knowing that there is f/f, m/m and f/f/m. That's not the only reason to read it though, you should read it because Erica Chilson knows her characters, they don't flip flop, they don't seem fake, they feel like they live down the street and your good friends with them and that's how you know all about them. Erica has a fantastic, amazing talent feeding up just what we want when we want it. She is not predictable and her books will emotionally and mentally challenge you.
Read the synopsis on this book, read it carefully. Then I'd and when you purchase it I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
My only problem now is what to read next, I have no more Erica Chilson books left. hmmm. oh well I need a cigarette after that anyway before I can read any other books.

I don’t know about y’ll but the ending of Widow left me dying know what would happen next in the crazy town of Fairport. Well this book doesn’t really give that away but what it does give you is a story that we have been waiting on. Ginny’s! I am plus size girl myself so I have related to Ginny for a while, so I was dying to see her get a HEA, though knowing it would be hard with not a lot of lesbian to work with. This book delved deeply into both Ginny and Opal character rounding them out more than I had even believed possible and making so now if we don’t know what continues to happen with them it will drive me crazy. More than once I found myself relating, crying, or being angry with both characters. And those hot steamy scenes were some of the hottest I have read in a Chilson book, shit pretty much period. I left feeling achy and in need of something from those scenes my damn self. So pick up the book light a candle or 10 and be ready for the ride, because it got it all.

"I finally found something that has a greater pull than my fear."

I was intrigued with Opal and Ginny from the beginning of the series. I love that we got to see a more intimate side of them individually and as a couple. I've read M/M (M&M of Restraint was my first experience with this genre, only fitting Blended would be my first F/F read) but I never ventured into the F/F genre. It was so well written. I didn't know what to expect but Ms Chilson knocked it out of the park with this one.

I think with every book within this series gives me a new favorite, Wanton has me loving Sage and his little snarky ways. I can't wait to see when his character is explored more.

I always love getting a peak at the other relationships from outside point of views. Any view of the the ever present love triangle of Rob/Isis/Auggie never gets old.

Can't wait to see where the next book takes us in the little sleepy town of Fairport.

Wanton is the latest installment of the Playroom series by Erica Chilson. Erica has the ability to draw the reader into the story and make them feel as though they are right in the middle of the action.

This is the beginning of Ginny's and Opal's story. These two women have been searching for happiness their entire lives. Opal gave in to convention and allowed her parents to direct her path in life. Even knowing that she preferred women, Opal married a peer of her father's and had a child. Ginny, always knowing that she preferred women has tried her best to help raise her niece and nephews as well as her brother-in-law's younger sister, all the while trying to find a woman to share her life with.

Sparks fly when Ginny and Opal meet and begin the slow dance of romance. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book in this series.

Opal and Ginny's story.

Continuing where Widow left off, this book gives us the story of Opal and Ginny. Ginny, the best friend of Clover, a woman who knows where she stands and what she wants and who she is. Ginny, the woman who has been in the playroom as one of the members lover,, but not of the sex she preferred. ( read Widow) She is feeling empty and unfulfilled, until the moment she walks into a diner on a late night run and finds the woman across from her attracts her.

Unfortunately this first meeting between these two ends on a bad note, but as adults and mature women when the chance and opportunity comes back around, they grab at it with both hands. This was not an insta-love novel. This is a book about two women who have been in relationships before, one who has a son who plays a very important role in future books, and one who has not have children, but finds being an aunt a very important and fulfilling role.

This i find was a slow burner, Opal discovering herself and Ginny guiding her and allowing her to be herself for her.

It was also interesting to see the background of both women, their pasts and how it played into their present lives. This book also starts foreshadowing a new relationship as well the pain it is likely to bring.

This is a review of the new updated 2017 version of this book. I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Erica Chilson's softer side strikes again and I loved it! This new Blended series is an amazingly complex story of how one blended family and their community overcome the obstacles in their lives in their pursuit of happiness.
In Wanton we meet Opal and Ginny. Both relatives of the Blended family, but being from opposite sides their paths had yet to cross. When they do, they ignite. Both Ginny and Opal have put themselves on the back burner throughout their lives and the time has come for them to put themselves first, but can they work past their own insecurities or will they be their own enemies and destroy their chance at happiness?
I really enjoyed seeing the personal growth each of them made while their story developed. I also loved seeing the Blended series' characters through new perspectives and in true Erica fashion, getting a sneak peak into the future of the series. Ginny and Opal's story was an emotional, feminine, and sexy treat for me and I look forward to hearing more about them in the future. I will definitely be staying on the roller coaster ride of this series and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different and a lot more unique than the average romance.

5 STARS!

Opal and Ginny's story from The Blended Series.

Warning: F/F, M/F/F, and Hilarious down to earth characters that play clue!

This was new to me. I've read M/M romance, (which I love) but I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about two women. I nervously opened this up and devoured it. One thing is certain, never underestimate Erica Chilsons' ability to make you feel all the emotions in her STORIES. Put away all your preconceived notions and enjoy the coming together of two beautiful characters! As each character gets their story, we get clues about what's to come in The Blended Series. There's always hidden clues in plain sight, that's what I love about Chilson's writing, nothing is ever wrapped up in a pretty package with rainbows and flowers. The characters are brought to life and I love every one of them.

FANTASTIC ADDITION TO THE SERIES!

P.S.

Lesbians!!! I truly loved this book. Opal and Ginny are two of my favorite women. They are very relatable. I see a helluva a lot of myself in Ginny. Really great book. I wonder who the 2nd and 3rd pregnant person is?! ~pouts~ I think I know 2 out of 3. Damn, to be a fly on Ms. Chilson's wall while she's writing or hell, just let me get inside that fabulous mind of hers.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

The Blended series has quickly become one of my favorite book series. Wanton, in particular, has landed itself in my top 10 favorite books. Ginny and Opal's story was extremely well done. It was tastefull, beautiful, and moving and did those two ladies justice. Ginny is struggling with self acceptance and self worth. Opal is trying to reign in her son's raging hormones and dealing with her ex-husband wanting her back: no dice sir, she is a lesbian.
If you are looking to pick this one up, I recommend reading the entire series from the beginning. Characters that you meet in the first book frequent all of the others.
