You can run, but you can't hide from the Reaper.
A strange pottery jug unearthed in the backyard. Sleepless nights filled with intoxicating dreams. A creature who seems to be warning her. They all seem unconnected until Azrael arrives to correct Ayla's newest fare.

That's when she realizes there's a deeper mystery bubbling beneath the surface of what the jars represent, and it has everything to do who put them there in the first place.

Dire is the second instalment of the Reaper’s Redemption series, an urban fantasy collection with a whole new take on the Grim Reaper.

Our heroine has struggled with secrets all her life, but now that she is coming to accept them, and who she is, more unknowns keep cropping up. And some of them might be better left that way, not that they are going to give her a choice.

This is book two of the series. While you will be missing some of the backstory if you start here, this book still does pretty well as a standalone. Just be prepared to want to go back to the beginning and start over afterwards.

This is an urban fantasy story with magic, witches, reapers and others. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed setting that it just a step away from our own. The characters are also well developed and provide the meat of the story. I particularly liked our heroine who might not be entirely comfortable with her new role, but she is going to give it her all. The story moves at a quick pace and there is plenty of mystery, action and intrigue which combine to keep things interesting. Overall, this was a fun read and I look forward to going back and restarting from the beginning. (See, I speak from experience.)

Dire is an absolutely fantastic second installment that finds our MC still struggling with her secrets but is finally coming to terms with who she is.

I feel you can start here if you haven’t read the first book. However, you will miss some of the backstory which deepens the world but it is well written enough that it can still work as a standalone. I personally suggest going back to book one if you have time though.

This is rich urban fantasy story with magic, witches, and other worldly things.

The characters are well developed and engaging. I look forward to seeing where this series goes I highly recommend checking it out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in this series following fallen angel/reaper Ayla and her friends, Sarah, a necromancer and Callum, a Nephilim.

There's a couple of characters in this one who appear to be causing some trouble, but Ayla has her own way of dealing with them, even if others don't agree with her plans of action. I loved how we were supposed to think the one causing the trouble was one creature when it turns out they were not to blame at all.

The mystery of the pots in the garden was a great one and I loved how they were linked to Ayla before she knew it! The story behind the why they were there, definitely makes me want to read more in this series - I want to know if Ayla knew what she was doing when she put them there and why!

This was a great read - fast paced, great characters and development and the cliffhanger ending definitely makes you want to read the next (and final) book in this series! This is definitely a series I recommend!

I received a copy of this book from the author but this review is all my own!

This is an interesting series with cool paranormal ideas and a fun-filled action packed mystery to solve. This is book 2, so I’d recommend reading book 1 before this one for a better connection to the characters. Ayla has found some odd jars buried in the backyard, so she sets out to solve that mystery. She’s also dealing with weird dreams, and trying to improve her skills of survival; with all the dangerous things going on that’s probably a good idea. Enjoy the reaper and angel aspects to the story, and Ayla’s sass and kicking booty attitude. Looking forward to reading the next one.

Ayla, Callum and Sarah are back for more danger and craziness as things get even weirder then the last book. As we learn more about the main characters things begin to happen and Ayla has to figure out what in the world is going on and how or even if it is all connected. Wild and fun and a bit hard to put down, I enjoyed the story and the characters. And had to see how it all fit together and what would happen next .

Callum has been trying to teach Ayla how to protect herself but her instincts tell her to flee every time he comes at her. Finally, the day comes when Gramps is released from the hospital. Sarah attempts to get rid of what was released when Ayla saved her in the crypt. This book contains action, romantic feelings, and ends in a cliffhanger. Highly recommended.

Dire is a great action packed novel with an excellent story and lead. Entertaining with page to page suspense, humor, and an overall good story. A steady pace allows the reader to absorb the story as it goes and makes this a well worth it read.

Gripping and fast paced, I enjoyed the 3rd book in this trilogy. Was slightly disappointed to find at least 3 errors - spellings or incorrect words that the proofreader didn’t spot :( But otherwise, loved the characters and the storyline,

I read the first book in this series last January, so it took me a little time to remember exactly what happened and who everyone was. Ayla and Sarah have been living at her grandfather's house while he is in the hospital. Sarah is hiding from her family and Gramp's druid protections have kept her from being found. Ayla has asked Callum to train her so she can better protect herself, but that isn't going too well since her first instinct is to run and hide when he comes at her. The three dig up a strange jar after Ayla trips over it while fleeing one of Callum's "attacks".

So starts a convoluted series of events that include everything from a incubus to a goddess. It will take Ayla a while to figure it all out and the help of everyone, including her grandfather, to keep everyone alive. Azrael will make some appearances that will both hurt and help her. Her crush on Callum will make things awkward. In the end things will be both better and worse. Ha! Confused yet?

As her dark, dangerous journey continues, Ayla needs all the help she can from her friends and Gramps and just maybe everyone will live. How can she protect them all? The cliffhanger leaves us with the question who found Sarah? So much still to come in the next instalment. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fast paced action packed read. Ayla is right in the middle of it all. Is Sarah safe? Will Ayla and Callum get together? Who is the man that resembles Sarah? Lots of questions with interesting answers.

This book gripped me right from the begining. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it after reading Grim, and I must say this book DID NOT DISSAPPOINT! The characters are so honest and real, and always stay true to who they are. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked. It was impossible to put down because I just had to see what was going to happen next.

I can't wait to get started on the next book. I highly recommend this book, this series, and definitely this author. I honestly can't say enough about any of it.

Dire is the second book In the Reapers Redemption Series. I loved reading it..
Ayla is the main character in the story accompanied by Sarah, Callum and Gramp (Ayla's Grandfather).
Thea is an awesome author.. she makes her books like they could be read as stand aloned.. but it's best to read them in order. But if you start the second book she makes it easy to catch on what has happened in the storyline.
Ayla is quite the character.. I love how she figures out what is happening and how to solve a problem after a bit of thinking.
Sarah the Necromancer is special.. I love how she has the take control of any situation..
Gramp is awesome.. he has the best caring attitude for his Granddaughter and of the natural world.. As Gramps is a Druid of Nature.
Callum is a unique character.. I love his protectiveness when it came to Ayla. He doesn't want to let anything happen to her.
The story holds you with its fast pace and surprise at the end.

Ayler is a brilliant character, I really feel for her though because I think she got a bum deal.
This story follows on from the last book from where Ayler found out what she was, but from the way Thea Atkinson writes you don't really need to read it. (I think they can be read as stand-alone.
All the characters in the book are brilliantly created, I think Callum is pretty drool worthy though, he certainly sounds it.
The storyline is isn't like anything I've read before and thoroughly enjoyable with so much happening throughout the book.
I can't wait to see what Ayler and her friends get up to in the next book! So excited

Woah. What the heck? I hope nothing horrible results from what Ayla did. I fear that my hopes are for naught. I also fear for Sarah. What her family has in mind for her is seriously unthinkable! I really need the next book NOW!

Good follow up to Grim. The story is enticing and engaging a little different with some minor corrections needed, but overall a good story. Can't wait for book 3 to see how it all ties up.

A Reaper, a Nepilium, a Necromancer, a Druid, A Goddess, a Incubus and the Angel of Death All Walk Into A Cathedral...

Who Will Walkout With Their Life in Tack? And if They Do, Will It Ever Be The & Same?

We can't always pick our relatives, but we can pick those of us we wish to call our family. Ayla, Sarah, Callum & Gramps begin to settle in & relax after their harrowing ordeal in Grim, warding the home and trying to protecting Sarah, when all hell breaks loose! But who's in danger this time? Will it be Sarah from her family, Ayla from those she must reap, Callum from the Supernatural Community of Dyre or will it be all of the above?

Thea Atkins creation, of Dyre a small American town full of Supernatural beings, some good, some bad and some evil incarnate, all fighting, some for survival, some for love of family & friends and some because they can!

Ms Atkins knows how to write real people as characters, both main & secondary.
They flawed, each hold secrets, problematic and all have the capacity for good & bad.
Some I love, some I want to love and some I love to hate, but all make me feel as if I'm right in the thick of things, experiencing a crush, the fear, falling in love, or fighting for my life, as if I'm right there along side them in the scene.

Ayla - A troubled young woman, in & out of foster homes, till Gramps partition's the courts for her guardianship. Always trying to protect those she loves at their own expense. Rebellious, hard head, stubborn and my favourite character of the book, she has a lot of growing to do, in more ways than one and looked down upon by the towns folk. Innocent, inexperienced & green in the ways of the supernatural.
Callum - The brave fireman of town and loved by all who know him, always willing to run headlong into danger. Has a strength, a strong willingness and is eager to please. Not yet ready to accept what he wants or who he truly is! Another loveable character, his need to be the hero an endearing trait, but not always needed.
Sarah - Another flawed, troubled young woman in & out of foster system, till she ran when her family regained her guardianship. Her family life, not one of love and affection. Has great knowledge of the supernatural, spells, runes witchcraft, Necromancy and wards. Handy to have around in troubled times.
Gramps - The elder Statesman of the pack, a once powerful Druid wise in the ways of magic, quite and reserved, when he speaks, you listen. A loveable character who you constantly cheer on!
Azrael - The Angel of Death, I want to love to hate him, but there's just that thing I can't quite place my finger on! Is he in love with Ayla's past Angel, why is he helping her? A Cruel, caring, rude, helpful Angel of Death. Definitely more than meets the eye with this character, waiting to reserve judgment on Azreal!

An exciting, action packed book, keeping me on the edge of my seat!
Impossible to put down, this one had me glued to the screen reading faster and faster till my iPad couldn't keep up, then I had to slow!
No longer on it's way to being a favourite series of mine, it's already there!
I rate Dire 5⭐️ out of 5⭐️, Not sure how this series gets any better, but I bet it does! The jacket cover is simply stunning & spooky! In Dire need to read Book 3!

I received an advanced readers copy of this book, to write an honest review in exchange for a free copy.

Dire is the second book in the Reaper's Redemption series and I must say that I was riveted from start to finish.

Ayla is the complete opposite of what you would expect a typical heroine to be. She is truly unprepared for everything that comes her way but somehow always manages to muddle her way through.

Surreal dreams, canopic jars and multiple references to Birkenstocks, this book will make you laugh, ponder where everything is headed and seriously want to beat Azrael to a pulp (maybe that last bit is just me)..... I think if you like the Urban Fantasy genre, you will love this new take on the grim reaper.

I received this as an ARC which I voluntarily read in exchange for an honest review.
