A fun, sexy, new standalone from New York Times best-selling author Aleatha Romig.

He‘s sexy and confident, the kind of man every woman notices. You know, the one with the to-die-for body and panty-melting smirk. And then there‘s the way his designer suits drape over his broad shoulders and big...well, we‘ve all heard the rumors, the ones that say he‘s up for any challenge.

But I can‘t see him that way. He‘s my boss - technically one of the owners of the company where I work - and definitely not in my league. Men like him don‘t notice women like me, and they don‘t date them. And I don‘t date men like him. Until that one time that I catch him in a compromising position when I‘m also in need of a last-minute date for a wedding...and then it‘s not real. It‘s blackmail.

For one weekend, he‘s my plus-one.

Beautiful and unobtainable.

From the moment she walked into my office with those stunning blue eyes and crazy sensual curves, she‘s been on my mind. Three years and never once has she acted interested in me. Usually I flash a million-dollar smile and women fall to their knees, some literally. Not her.

Then on the occasion that I agree to let another woman do that - fall to her knees - guess who happens to catch us?

It may not be the most conventional way to get on her radar, but I didn‘t get this far in business without knowing when to seize an opportunity. If this sexy little firecracker with perfectly kissable lips thinks she can blackmail me into attending her cousin‘s wedding, I‘m going to jump at the chance to be her plus-one.

You love her darker side. Now it‘s time to meet Leatha, the lighter side of Aleatha, as she trades her renowned twists and turns for laughs and love with this sexy new standalone romance, Plus One.

⭐️⭐️⭐️3/4! Plus One (stand-alone). The opportunity of a lifetime as girl finds a way to bring out-of-her-league boss to weekend wedding!

Imagine catching the attention of the hottest guy you know. Well, not exactly catching his attention… more like being presented with the perfect opportunity to blackmail him into attending a wedding as your plus one.

That is what happens to human resource employee Kimberly Ann Jones, Kimbra in the opening of Plus One. And now her off-limits sex-on-a-stick boss, Pharmaceutical company co-owner Duncan Willis is accompanying her to a weekend with her family.

Never would Kimbra have imagined joining the mile-high club, having wild sex in her childhood bedroom nor bringing home a guy her family approved of. Nor would she ever dream of keeping his interest past the weekend.

Seven words to describe Duncan Willis: Flirty, immature, easy-going, horny, secretive, oh so sweet and dirty-talker.

Seven words to describe Kimberly Ann Jones, Kimbra: loyal, inflexible, apprehensive, reflective, romantic, smart and resourceful.

Plus One (stand-alone) told from dual POVs, comes courtesy the lighter side of Aleatha. Read when you are in the mood for a feel-good forbidden office romance with a bit of insta- without skimping in the smut department.

This is pretend, but not the way she’s defining it. What is pretend is my show of control. Kimbra Jones has it all. I’d fall to my knees and beg her if I could make this weekend continue.

PLUS ONE is the first Aleatha Romig book that I have ever read and all I can say is that I was completely blown away by how much I truly loved this story! I know she is famous for her dark books and I did go into this one with a little trepidation because I wondered if she would be able to successfully write a RomCom and I am so happy to report that my doubts were unfounded! The storyline had me hooked from the prologue! Office romances, when done right, can be OH SO GOOD and my GOD, I nearly burst into flames from the scorching hot sexy scenes in this book!

Kimbra Jones is an HR manager for a pharmaceutical logistics company in New York City. She moved all the way from a small town in Indiana for this dream job. Life has been good to her in the career department but she hasn’t fared too well in matters of the heart. When her mom calls to find out if she’s still coming with her boyfriend to her cousin’s wedding, Kimbra starts to panic. Her family doesn’t know that she broke up with her boyfriend six months ago. She doesn’t want her family to know that yet again she is single but since the wedding is less than a week away, her options seem bleak. But then everything changes when she catches the CEO, Duncan Willis, in a compromising position in the office restroom with a female employee. Desperate times calls for desperate measures and she ends up “blackmailing” Duncan into being her ”Plus One” to the wedding festivities and in return she will keep his indiscretion a secret. Not only does he have to be her wedding date but he also has to pretend as if they’ve been dating for the last five months and they’ll be sharing a bedroom in her parent’s house for four days. Duncan is not the least bit put out by the situation and views this as a long awaited opportunity to get Kimbra into bed.

 photo 18379157_808094602671726_1529306960_o_zps4mvadyxl.jpg

Duncan has fancied Kimbra for nearly three years. From the moment she walked into his office he had been captivated by her, and little does he know that Kimbra has harbored a secret crush on him as well. This wedding ends up being a welcome opportunity for the both of them even though they agree that they’re strictly in a ”pretend” relationship. Neither of them expected to feel an overwhelming attraction for each other and that they’d share such a deep connection.

The lines between fantasy and reality are blurred for the couple and soon enough both Kimbra and Duncan aren’t so eager to go back to the way things were. Will insecurities and past heartbreak keep them from taking a chance on love?

This book was simply amazeballs and there aren’t enough words in the English Dictionary that could successfully describe just how much I loved it! The heroine was endearing, the story was wildly entertaining, some of the secondary characters are a serious laugh riot, and it has a ridiculously sexy and swoon worthy Hero!

PLUS ONE releases on May 16th!! Make sure you bump this one waaaaaaaaaaaaaay up your TBRs!! I am truly hoping that Ms. Romig will write more books like this! It would be a travesty if she didn’t!

Aleatha Romig is one of my favorite authors when it comes to romantic suspense, dark romance, and twisty stories. When I saw she was coming out with something on the lighter side, I jumped at the chance to read it.

Kimbra desperately needs a plus one for her cousin’s wedding. After catching her boss in a… compromising position, Kimbra sort of blackmails him into coming home with her for the weekend to be her date for the wedding. It’s out of Kimbra’s character to do that, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Duncan could easily get out of going to this wedding with Kimbra, but he doesn’t want to. There is something about her that he’s been intrigued by since the moment she started working for him. This weekend is supposed to be just that. The weekend. But as it goes on, the two become closer. It becomes more…

I liked the premise of this story, so why the 3.5 stars… honestly, there was nothing ‘wrong’ with this book. I liked it. But I only liked it. It didn’t give me that love feeling and there were moments where it didn’t hold my attention like I hoped it would. There were parts I very much liked, and I thought the heroine was great. After I got to know the hero (I wasn’t crazy about him at first) I ended up adoring him, too. And Kimbra’s family… OMG they were fantastic. Her grandma was such a hoot! I do feel that it’s more of a ‘just me’ thing. Most of my friends are loving this book- so if you’re looking for something light give it a try!

Plus One is a fun and sexy read. Although it didn’t come together as I would have liked, I will still definitely give anything else this author writes on the lighter side a go! And of course, I’ll always be a faithful reader of her darker books!

This book was so unexpected.  It's light, funny, and flirty.  It's the perfect Romcom, a great mix of steamy romance and laugh out moments!

Here's what I loved:  The characters.  Kimbra and Duncan were super cute!  Although I wasn't a huge fan of Duncan early on, he definitely grew on me.  His character develops significantly over the course of the book.  It was great to see.
The secondary characters were hilarious.  Kimbra's family cracked me up!!

The plot is cute.  It's a very light-hearted and fun book.  The perfect pick me up if you want something simply for entertainment value.

The writing style is crisp and well done.

Overall, this book really hit the spot. If Romcom is your thing, you should certainly grab this one!

➦This is a pretty enjoyable romance with a fake relationship trope. It's full of fun banter, silly situations and steam. Low on angst too! So if you're looking for a light and fun read then do check it out!

➦The heroine of this novel needs to bring a date to a wedding. But she has nobody to ask! So, when she happens to be in the bathroom while his boss engages in some inappropriate activity with a coworker, she sees a perfect opportunity for blackmail. Because why not? He's rich and hot and would be a perfect plus one.

➦Little does she know, however, that he would be the one benefiting from their deal. Because he's had a crush on her for years but, being used to women practically jumping him, he patiently waits for miss prime and proper to notice him. Or something.

➦The rest of the story involves obnoxious family gatherings, vibrator jokes and acceptance into a mile high club. Cute and sexy, pretty fast paced. I liked it a lot, I didn't completely love it. I think I needed just a bit more angst. And I didn't completely fall over heels for the hero, but that's just one person's opinion. I definitely encourage you to find out for yourselves! :)

4.25 seize the stars

“Blackmail? Deal? Plus-one. A weekend wedding from hell?”

Or is it the perfect excuse to get what they've been denying themselves for so long!?!

Kimbra Jones, needs a date, and not just any date, a date to get her mother and entire family to back off her and her non-existent social life. After her scum-bag of an ex cheated on her, she threw herself in her work and purposely forgot her cousin's wedding until her mother made it her sole purpose in life to remind her of her role in introducing her infamous "Plus-One". With no time to spare, she uses a very inappropriate work event to her "advantage". It may be that "The idea that just occurred to me is ludicrous, asinine, and possibly the worst one I’ve ever had. But other than the possibility of losing my job—oh, and my dignity—it just might work."

Duncan Willis, can't believe it, call it luck or torture but the temptress that has haunted his inappropriate thoughts, has decided to blackmail him into spending a weekend alone with her... in the same room, in the same bed. Seeing that he's not one to offer more, or to event consider settling down and the fact that she is his employee ... he's never had to pursue any of his conquests. Yet here she is, thinking she has him by the balls, little does she know, he'll use this as his opportunity to seize her mind and more importantly her body.

As much as in her head, she has the rules set as playing house and make believe, there is nothing fake or pretend for the lust and connection they share. It's only a matter of time before the war between brain and heart give way to the truth and it will be all as clear as day. Risk and trust, here, now and the future... seize the opportunity.

Plus One A new welcome lighter side of Aleatha Romig, it is everything we love about her in a lighter shade of swoon, deliciously packaged with her spacial flare. I completely enjoyed it; fun, sexy and flirty. Kimbra made this bad boy work for his spot by her side, and damn did he earn it, loved the way he took care of her, even when he thought he wasn't capable of all that and more. Kimbra was cautious and guarded, but being with Duncan allowed her a sense of freedom that only comes when your loved unconditionally. Recommended for those looking for love and laughter with a side of naughty.

How more pathetic a woman could be if she got aroused while hearing her boss with OW in the office bathroom?
There was no bj, but OW had it in her hand, literally.
So female protagonist got aroused and blackmailed her manwhore boss (who accepted the services of OW to blow him) to be her plus one for the wedding.

Hmm, how low the standards could drop...

Out! I'm out!

STORY OVERVIEW AND REVIEW

This is my first Aleatha Romig experience, and wow. You want a steamy, forbidden office romance with a fake relationship on the side? You'll get that with Plus One, plus many more. Great chemistry, dirty talk that would make you blush, and sweet and lighthearted moments that would make you swoon and laugh.

HR employee Kimberly Ann "Kimbra" Jones needs a date to her cousin's wedding and she might just get the perfect plus one in the form of her company's CEO, Duncan Willis. When she overhears her boss in a compromising situation that violates the non-fraternization rule at the office, she thinks that as crazy as it sounds, blackmailing him into going on a weekend trip to Indianapolis as her date would solve her dilemma.

Unbeknownst to Kimbra, Duncan sees the "blackmail" as an opportunity. A weekend where he pretends to be the loving boyfriend of this gorgeous and wonderful woman, sleeping in the same room and bed with her? It's no punishment at all.

Playing pretend is no issue, especially if they're far away from New York and real life, but when the wedding is over and they have to fly back, making it real might seem harder than faking it after all.

I enjoyed the story and loved the chemistry between Kimbra and Duncan. Plus, the Jones family made me laugh, especially Kimbra's mom and grandmother.

WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT THE AUDIOBOOK?

This is my first audiobook by the two narrators, so it took me a while to warm up to them. There's something about Ms. Prescott's voice, the way it quivers at times, that did not sit well with me. I have to say though, these two sure know how to narrate some steamy scenes. They're hot enough on their own, but wow did Ms. Prescott and Mr. Pallino make my ears and body heat up. The lust and longing between Kimbra and Duncan were tangible, and the chemistry even more. The pacing of the narration was perfect for the story, so there wasn't a time when I was listening to the audiobook that I got bored or felt like the book was dragging.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS AUDIOBOOK TO A FRIEND? IF SO, WHY?

Yes. Initial uncertainties with the narrators wise, I still enjoyed listening to the audiobook. I love me some fake relationship books, and this one was hot as sin. If you're looking for a lighthearted, fun, and sexy audiobook, Plus One would be a great choice.

How to get your dream girl's attention 101:
get another girl to give you a head in a place where it is very likely for your dream woman to storm in.
It's SO romantic and it screams love and commitment SO loud, she'll be in hook, line and sinker!

"Seize the Opportunity"
 photo IMG_3399_zpslvp11ynq.jpg

Fun, Flirty and Fluffy- Plus One is all that!! It's a fun read that will make you laugh, smile, swoon and love. Their is sassiness, great banter, sexilicious fun and it's a standalone.

Duncan Willis- the Boss, A Player, Charming and Sex on a Stick.......
Kimbra Jones- Beautiful, Works for Duncan, and has fantasies about Sex on a Stick....

Kimbra and Duncan have been work colleagues for 3 years and have never crossed the line, always maintaining a professional relationship. But when Kimbra "blackmails" Duncan for a weekend of being her "Plus One" at her cousin's wedding, "not real" sexy shenanigans begin where "not real" and "seizing the opportunity" becomes blurred. But pretending in front of Kimbra's family stirs up "real" feeling in both and the weekend becomes a weekend of first for the two.

Kimbra's family is awesome and hilarious. Mom, Dad, Grandma Helen, Brother and his wife.....they make for an entertaining weekend when everyone stays together under one roof. Kimbra and Duncan get to really know each other and her family makes it all the better.

The lighter side of Aleatha, Leatha, has managed to write a funny, sweet, sexy love story with a fab HEA. One that makes you smile and laugh and just feel good. While I adore the dark side of this author, a fun and light story is always refreshing and I hope "Leatha" comes out again with another lighter standalone.

Ridiculous and boring. I cannot stand it anymore and I am dropping it at %30 and to get that far, I had to skip a lot!

It seems that the book is mostly about sex with no feelings and also, the heroine is TSTL. The plot seemed like fun in the blurb but when I started to read it, it just felt meaningless and empty.

They have been working in the same place for 3 years and known each other for 3 years but they have never tried to know each other better. It all starts suddenly after a stupid blackmailing. There is no chemistry, no feelings, no build-up of sexual tension, they just go at it.

I didn't like the tone and style of writing at all. I didn't like many word choices.

Here is one example:

"Kimbra, please clarify for me. Am I hearing you correctly? Your rules include sharing a room at your parents’, where they want me to deflower their little girl?”

My neck cranes upward as heat fills my cheeks. I try to ignore the way our hips are plastered together. “I’m not a little girl and that flower has already been picked.”

He pulls me even closer and winks. “Even better. Too much responsibility. Perhaps there are other flowers still available?”

To be honest, my 1 star is for the first 30% of the book but I don't think it would have changed if I had finished reading it.

When I started reading Plus One by Aleatha Romig, I thought the storyline sounded familiar with a previous book that I read titled Duncan by Jade Sinner and so I decided to scroll back to the beginning of Plus One to read the introduction and happened to discover that Aleatha Romig was indeed Jade Sinner.

In Plus One, Aleatha gives readers a full length story of Duncan. While I am used to the darker, gritty, and suspenseful side of Aleatha Romig, I did enjoy to see her fun, playful, and lighter side come out with this book.

Kimbra is in need of a plus one for her cousin’s wedding since her family has been constantly reminding her that she said she would bring a date. Originally, she put a plus one since she was in a relationship but now she is currently single. And so when Kimbra finds her boss in an uncompromising position, she blackmails him to be her plus one.

#AR_PlusOne

Duncan Willis is more than happy to be her plus one. In fact, he would want nothing more than to be her date and pretend to be in a relationship with her while he agrees to go to the wedding. Duncan has been wanting Kimbra for quite some time now since she has been the star of his fantasies.

photo 2920ec2cbfb47563677aa788376b0c_zpsokrsjqvd.gif His touch is sure and possessive as he brushes his firm lips over my knuckles. It’s such a small connection and yet it ignites tingles that radiate throughout my body. A kiss of my hand and my toes curl.”

While Duncan and Kimbra pretend to be a couple for the weekend, Duncan also suggest that they should explore the sexual side of being in a relationship. Hence, lots and lots of sex. Sex that neither of them had ever experienced before. But what happens when a weekend of pretending must come to an end and they must return back to reality? Can Duncan and Kimbra pretend their feelings and attraction to one another? Or will Duncan show that he wants to be Kimbra’s forever plus one?

Plus One was a fun, playful and sexy read. I liked this new lighter side to Aleatha Romig as it was refreshing to see this side of Aleatha. While I enjoyed this book, I felt that there were some parts that were a bit repetitive for my taste and that the story could have been shorter but other than that I look forward to reading more books from this new playful, lighter side of Aleatha Romig.

I gotta say, I'm totally loving the lighter side of Aleatha! PLUS ONE was INCREDIBLY ENTERTAINING and DELICIOUSLY DIRTY! Duncan is EVERYTHING!

Light or dark, hilarious or suspenseful, I'll take Aleatha either way! With the release of this super sexy office romance, Ms. Romig has proven that she can KICK ASS in any genre! I absolutely ADORED this book!

"The reality is that I've had easy. Easy kneels at my feet in a public bathroom. Easy spreads her legs with merely a grin. Kimbra has been anything but easy."

I have MAD LOVE for this author and her incredible talent to switch up genres. If you guys take away one thing from my review, please please PLEASE do not let this blurb scare you away. Let me ask you a question. What percentage of romances START OFF as romantic right off the bat? See, what I mean. What fun would that be? I don't know about you, but as an avid fan of happily ever afters, I like to work for it a bit. I want the chase. I want the angst. I want it all. But what I don't want is to be hand given a sappy romantic love story where it's hearts and flowers from beginning to end. So again, give this sexy and hilarious standalone romance a shot and believe me, you will just ADORE it!

"Getting to here...to now...to there being any kind of us. None of that was easy. But, oh, beautiful, it has been worth it."

Duncan and Kimbra were beautiful and hilarious together. Kimbra's family was equally hilarious. It was FUN and SEXY times all around and I never wanted it to end! Trust me when I say that you will FALL for these characters hard, primary and secondary characters alike. I only hope I see more of this delightful side to one of my absolute favorite authors in the near future.

I thought this was a cute romance. It took me a little time to warm up to Kimbra when I first started the book but by the end I liked her and was cheering her and Duncan on. I do wish that she wasn't so stubborn when Duncan was telling her that he wanted more than a weekend, but once we moved on from that I thought their ending was really amazing.

Just coming off the high of reading a really lovely rom-com CR by J.T. Geissinger, MELT FOR YOU, I decided to try this one by Aleatha Romig which had 399 reviews and a 4.5-star average on Amazon. And the 99-cent price sold me on it completely.

Well, dang it anyway. This book sucks so bad I think my house is now a black hole. This was a DNF for me, with a creepoid sleazebag manslut as the "hero" and a heroine who started out the first pages as an okay person but turned into a puddle of wet panties around the handsome creep. Where's her self-respect anyway?

The h is in the HR department of the company where the H is a big wig. She polices, to an extent, intraoffice behavior. No hanky-panky is acceptable. When she accidentally catches him having an inappropriate sexual encounter with a low-level employee whose name he doesn't even know, she bribes him into being her plus one at her cousin's upcoming wedding in exchange for not reporting his inappropriate behavior.

The dirtbag H doesn't even show any shame at being caught out and even begins his sexual advances on the h while agreeing to the wedding date. Not only that but the h gets all turned on by his slutty come-ons. That's pretty much where I gave up on this.

Why, why, are there female readers who find this romantic? This H is a real manwhore. He'll get in the h's panties long enough for this book's HEA, but in real life guys like this one will be off to look for other lingerie soon after that.

4.5 electric toothbrush stars!

I have to admit, this is my first go at an Aleatha Romig book and even though this is lighter side of her writing hand, she still did not disappoint. I think my cheeks hurt from smiling all too much. And just so you wait—when you meet Kimbra's family, you'll seriously laugh your butt off. Especially during the times Grandma Helen opened her mouth. It's her fault I would never look at an electric toothbrush the same way ever again.

Duncan Willis wasn't entirely whom I expected. Yes, he was a GQ kind of perfect, he co-owns a business with his best friend, and he can get any woman he wants... He was truly living and enjoying the life of a bachelor. To be honest, he didn't have my vote in the beginning. Because seriously, he was kind of cocky and he got caught by Kimbra in a very compromising position for crying out loud. But then I got to know him better the deeper we got into the story. I saw the way he was with, not only Kimbra, but her family as well. God, he just fit into the Jones family with little to no effort at all. That stupidly made my heart so happy. And then he showed the way he tried to express and explain himself to Kimbra the best way he can. He laid everything out and didn't hide one bit about him. And let me tell you, right when he started everything that had to do with that bouquet of flowers, I was done for. The man definitely knows how to bring out the big guns and woo a woman's pants off. He just kept on surprising me with each revelation, with each move, with each word he said.

Kimbra Jones was finally living her dream. She was working as an HR in the company Duncan owns in New York and she was satisfied with her life. That is until her mother hounds her in bringing a date at her cousin's upcoming wedding. And well, you know how it goes. Kimbra blackmails strikes a deal with Mr. Willis being her plus-one after she caught him red handed and they're off to the wedding. Everything was just supposed to be pretend or a seized opportunity, as Duncan wants to put it. But soon enough, lines began to blur and the more they got to know each other outside the quarters of their office, the more they find the spark they didn't know they were looking for in each other.

Kimbra was all kinds of passionate, driven and smart. She does her job so well and the love she has for her family shines through whenever she's around them. I just loved her spirit and independence, especially with how she pursued her dreams with all her might, regardless if that means going into a whirlwind of a city that's entirely new to her. I also think she handled everything with Duncan so well, right from the very start. She had her own reservations as she's not usually very bold or forward, but a woman can only take so much. I mean, this is Duncan Willis she was dealing with, all laid out in the open, offering himself up on a silver platter for her to devour inside out. You see where I'm going with this... Since I certainly don't want to ruin the whole story for you guys.

Needless to say, this isn't bad for a sweet, sexy romcom at all; I enjoyed every bit of Duncan and Kimberly Ann. Plus One is an office romance with a twist that will make you laugh out loud and leave you with good vibes long after you're done reading it. Now I'm left wondering if maybe Shana will have her own book...

Cute office romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️😊🙃😋
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Kimbra Jones - she works in HR at Buchanan and Willis Pharmaceuticals and knows everyone that works there. One evening while out with a friend, she runs into Duncan Willis at a restaurant. He is out with a woman who also works at the company. Kimbra is attracted to Duncan though she thinks he is dating the woman he is with, until he later explains that it was a business dinner.

The Hero: Duncan Willis - Part owner of Buchanan and Willis Pharmaceuticals. He is extremely intelligent and the brains behind the successful business. He is attracted to Kimbra Jones but hasn’t quite been able to catch her attention. Though when she catches him in flagrante delicto with a woman in the bathroom stall at work, he has certainly caught her attention.

The story: Kimbra’s mom expects her to bring her boyfriend Timothy to the family wedding in Indiana. However, Kimbra broke up with Timothy six months ago when she found him cheating on her. Though she wants to bring a plus one, so her mom doesn’t fix her up with a local. Kimbra decides to blackmail her boss into being her plus one at the wedding after catching him in the bathroom. Duncan eagerly agrees to her blackmail, since he has wanted her for three years now.

The chemistry between the two main characters is explosive. I liked how strait-laced and naïve Kimbra was. Duncan jumped right into the fake romance. He was funny with it and certainly was a charmer. He was cocky, but came by it naturally, since many women tended to throw themselves at him (which is how he ended up in the bathroom with that woman from accounting).

This audiobook was told in two points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Samantha Prescott and Brian Pellino. Samantha has a sort of a deep voice for a woman, though it is still soft and feminine. I am not sure I like it, though I don’t hate it. Brian Pellino has a deep voice, and sound natural. He isn’t one of my favorite male narrators, but he does a good job.

So I don't care whether this book is by Lethea or Alethea because either way, the author is a S L U T S H A M E R . She's calling every woman SEEN--whether in official capacity or not--with the boss as an "office slut" or a "corporate ladder climber", meanwhile painting herself as the next Mother Theresa who, frankly is an office slut herself because she focuses her fantasies on her boss.

Not to mention, the mother is annoying but Kimbra's blatant disrespect is even more annoying. If I ever had a single thought about my mother the way she does (in a largegr capacity) I'd jump off a building because my mother is precious and I'm just an ungrateful bitch.

But again, the slut-shaming?? Seriously???? Not to mention the fucking hypocrisy.

Get a grip. If you want to try writing light-hearted romances, you shouldn't poke readers' pet peeves this way.

3,5 💞💞💞🌈🔥🌈🌟🌟🌟s❣️

An easy, light hearted, sweet and steamy romance read.
Kimbra needed a plus one for her cousin’s wedding. When an inappropriate opportunity occurred, she blackmailed Duncan, her boss, as for him to fulfil the vacant position.
Their fake relationship however evolved into more real!

The cast was great, grandma Helen was the absolute star, the writing light and nonchalant, dual pov, drama free.

The story could have been further developed and there were a few loose ends in the plot.

I'm putting this on hold for now.

I literally don't understand how this is getting so many 5 stars rating because I'm at double digit pages and the Hero is already fingering the heroine. Maybe I need to reserve my judgment but It's SO, SO, SO, SO STUPID HOW RUSHED THIS WHOLE THING IS.

Look, these two have been sneaking looks at each other for a while--okay I get that. But they had VERY minimal conversations prior to her blackmailing him. They were co-workers, basically.

It's like the moment she blackmailed him, their dynamic INSTANTLY changed. He suddenly started giving her some rly weird ass lines, groped her, they made out for the sake of it.

The heroine kept on repeating how it was all pretend over and over again but then played along with him anyway. And then when he asked her to join the Mile High Club and she agreed... I JUST ABOUT LOST IT. Bear in mind that they only just started getting fully acquainted with each other.

Their chemistry is non-existent LOL.

Like the fuck is going on?! I hate "complaining"--I feel like it's all I do lately. Maybe it's because I'm suffering from THE worst book drought ever. I don't know. But I'm so heated right now. I need to calm down.

Our heroine is dumped by her boyfriend for a bimbo just before her sister’s wedding. Now she either has to admit to not having a date or ruin the count for the reception.
Meanwhile her hot boss is making time with every female he wants. Problem is her wants our heroine. Now, personally I’m not a fan of the guy sleeping around while pining for the one girl he can’t have. So I didn’t quite fall in love with the hero. Nevertheless this is a good story with an adorable heroine.

This was an okay, light and fast read.
Duncan was sickly sweet and Kimbra was a typical NA heroine. The story was quite ridiculous but sexy at times. Nothing I will remember in a week or two.

This was different from Aleatha Romig usual, however I still loved it, 4.5 stars. Kimbra Jone HR Assistant at an Pharmaceutical company had dread going home to Indiana because she was going to her cousin wedding and she now did not have a date. Her slim ball boyfriend had been caught cheating with some skank from accounting, but her family didn't know. Everyone fro Indiana had been married with a dog and 2.5 kids accept Kimbra. Now wedding approaching she didn't want to go but low and behold an opportunity presented itself. It was beneath Kimbra to threaten anyone because she was HR and had and duty to report all suspicious/known/witness possible harassment activity. Kimbra was trapped when she notice the shoe and the moan and knew immediately who it was.

Duncan Willis CEO/Owner of pharmaceutical company had a reputation to upkeep as a ladies man, Duncan had swag, good looks and yes it was rich. Now he was being blackmailed by Kimbra Jones HR Assistant to be her Plus One because of the position he put himself and his company which he was co-owner in. He would go with Kimbra to Indiana for the weekend and she would forget what she saw. Duncan agreed and Kimbra set rules for weekend, however Duncan had other plans. How would the weekend go with Kimbra family and Duncan in Indy only one way to find out, read the book.

I have several problems with this book that are throwing me totally off:
1) She's an HR manager and she's going to blackmail her BOSS? What kind of work ethic is this? This isn't funny, this is nuts.
2) I hate adult heroines who cannot stand up to their family. It would be different if she's looking for a "plus one" to show up an ex-boyfriend, high-school rival, etc. but because she cannot admit to her mommy that she's dateless? Give me a break.
3) I've lived and worked in NYC for almost 20 years and the work environment in this book is totally off (you can tell this author hasn't even met a person who's held a job in NYC.) People aren't that formal anymore, calling everybody Mr or Ms.
4) What is it with her assuming that a coworker out to dinner with the boss is out to "climb the corporate ladder"? (Inference: she's sleeping with him to get a promotion). WTH? Why can't they be having a business dinner? Or if he's so hot, why wouldn't she want to sleep with him for himself? And again, where's her business ethic? She's a f*cking HR manager! She might want to talk to him if this is against company policy but not starting making inferences about the other woman's motives!
