He has a hard stick and he knows just what to do with it… Boston’s hockey star and infamous bad boy, Flynn Taylor, has all of the talent in the world. And he’s probably the sexiest man in the entire city, if not the country. He also happens to be a total loose cannon, and I happen to have had his mouth between my legs before we’ve even been formally introduced. That’s right, sweet Midwestern girl Savannah Shaw hooked up with a complete and total stranger on her first night away from home. And the worst part of it is, it was also the hottest night of my life. But things are never that simple. Flynn Taylor is off-limits for a whole host of reasons, and continuing to see him, even in secret, threatens to turn my whole life upside down and destroy everything I’ve been working toward these last few years. The trouble is, I can’t seem to stay away from him. Even though I know everything about him is wrong, when he touches me it feels so right. I guess it’s true what they say. It’s not the size of the stick, but how you handle it that matters. And Flynn Taylor has a big, hard stick, and he also knows exactly what to do to score. And score. And score again… HARD STICK is a full-length romance with a guaranteed HEA
The first introduction of Savannah with Flynn was written almost like a sexual assault. But I persevered with the book and the star had to be taken for the fact that Savannah was a weak young lady who couldn't help but drop her panties. Come on... strong female characters are not impossible to write....still it's a nice Flynn we are cheering for. I liked Jen, the roommate. She was helpful.
Reading Savannah POV was like reading a 12 year old girl who just saw a penis. I tried my hard to finish but then I thought, why I was trying so hard to go through?
Hard Stick is a sexy hockey romance. Savannah is a young girl from Ohio who comes to Boston to work on her Master's thesis with her Professor, who's conducting a study with the local AFL hockey team, the Argonauts. She meets bad boy Flynn Taylor when she loses the key to her new apartment and he breaks into it for her.
Their chemistry is popping from the minute they meet. They're a study in contrasts: she, the good country girl from the middle of nowhere working earnestly on her degree, he the bad boy hockey player with a chip on his shoulder from South Boston who fights and fucks his way through life. As their relationship progresses, even though it's forbidden, as Savannah knows she's supposed to maintain a professional relationship with all the players, it becomes obvious that something has to give. Of course, that something is their relationship.
If you like your sports romances fast paced with sexy bad boys, check out Hard Stick!

This was a beautiful and sexy hockey romance love story that was so well done; it held my attention and was exciting, but also was heartwarming and emotional. I enjoyed the characters of Flynn Taylor and Savannah Shaw. Savannah is from a small town and she gets an opportunity to go to a big city and college for a work study program with a professor on a hockey team. Flynn is a hockey player who has several issues that he needs to overcome. When Flynn meets Savannah, the chemistry between them grows more potent the more times they spend together—the sex is off-the-chart hot! You get a chance to see the progression of their love—theirs was not a quick and easy love story because they had to overcome some issues, but loves does prevail. The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. This story will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.
This book had bits I loved and bits I didn't love as much
Loved: - The way Savannah called Flynn out on his crap - The way Flynn didn't back down - The way Flynn put Savannah first simply accepting her reluctance
Loved less: - Needed more about Flynn's back story - what happened to make him as cynical and resistant as he was - Why did Savannah get away with so easily breaking the rules when her professor was the very definition of hard task master
Would love to see where this story goes - for me it was over too quickly once the NHL came knocking.
Story line and character's very good. The beginning was crazy especially after Flynn left so suddenly. What about that apartment she moved into? Crazy!! Shocked Flynn was some how involved in her work. Enjoyed part where Flynn takes Savannah to his parent's house for Thanksgiving dinner. Love the end when he sees her in the stands....then the proposal. Thought maybe there would be an announcement of a baby....
A Hockey legend helps a female in need of help new to the city the very day she arrives as each fall for each other instantly
A female student transfers for one semester to Boston for she will be working under a professor doing research work and getting credit towards her psychology degree an graduation. Little did she know her life is about to change later that night . 18+
Love love loved Flynn! So hot, so angry yet so hot, so intensely steamy!
Hard Stick is my first read by Paige North, but I guarantee it won't be my last!!! I loved the story right from page one and swooned a few times before I got to the end and then especially during the epilogue!!!!
Savannah and her antics were a bit hard to read at times. The beginning was really strange, as it was a bit of a push to just let yourself go with someone who broke into your house for you ...
I would have also liked to know more about what made Flynn the way he was, what happened in his first nhl debut.... other than that, solid book, nice epilogue to round it all of
Loved this book. I loved Savannah, she wasn't giving up on her goals. Flynn was a cocky hockey player who picked fights and acted out only to finally get it together after dating Savi. I loved them as a couple and how he cared for his family and she did too. I hope there are more books about the Bobcats. I like this authors books.
Flynn and Savannah met by chance. A good girl from the country meets bad boy, hockey player from the city. They meet by chance and their relationship must be kept a secret because her job and his are on the line. Great story plus a bonus story.
I tried reading this short story in my lunch hour, as I was in the mood for a sporty romance. I frowned my way through the opening chapter, but decided to push on. However things really didn't improve. The sexual stuff started almost immediately, and nothing about it was hot to me. It was simply way too fast and way too aggressive. I didn't feel any chemistry between the MC's, especially considering he'd mumbled less than a dozen sentences before they were naked. And I just didn't care for either of the MC's. She was too airheaded and weak. He was too pushy and nothing about him was charming.
I enjoyed this latest book by Paige North. Flynn seems like your typical alpha male hockey player, but there's much more to him than meets the eye. Savannah (Savi) seems like a small town girl lost in the newness of the big city, but that's not the case either. I enjoyed the ups and downs of Flynn and Savi's story and how things weren't at all what they seemed. The sex scenes were HOT as I've come to expect from Paige North and the story moved along at a good pace. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
Hard Stick is the third or fourth novel I’ve read by Paige North and I have to say, I really liked it. I can enjoy a good sports romance but I usually don’t expect much from them except raunchy sex. This one was surprisingly very sweet. image
Synopsis: Savannah Shaw isn’t in Ohio anymore when she so easily falls into bed with the first stranger she meets in Boston. That stranger happens to be Flynn Taylor, the infamous hockey star from the Boston area. Savannah figured she’d never see the handsome stranger again until she’s forced to study him and his team for her thesis over the semester. Sexual tension develops into more that neither one of them are prepared for.
Overall Impression:
From the beginning, I figured this would be another innocent-meets-badboy type of story where he’s filthy as heck and teaches her how to deep throat, but nope. This story was actually very cute. Flynn is rough around the edges but a big ol’ softy down inside and I dig it. Crushed on him pretty hard.
The conflict between the two characters was logical. Nothing bothers me more than unnecessary drama (I know, it’s romance) and North did a great job of leaving out the extra crap. That made the story a little shorter, but a short complete story is much better than a long drawn out one. My favorite part of the book was when they went out on a special date and everything between them kind of solidified before getting thrown for a sharp turn in the “all is lost” moment. Another favorite part of mine was when Savannah first gives in to his adventurous ways during one of their interviews. Fun scenes and great character development.
I would recommend this novel to anyone who simply enjoys romance novels. It was playful, sexy, and fun. The few dramatic parts they had in the novel were enough to keep the pages turning but not enough to rip your heart out or anything. Savannah’s insecurities kept her from seeing Flynn’s heart which was kept very obviously on his sleeve.
