It wasn't anywhere as good as the previous books in the MacMcRyan series. The story line didn't grip me at all, it certainly wasn't a page turner and was completely out of order with the rest of the series. Has the series finished and we are just to expect spin off ones like this? Very disappointing

Fair

Too much time spent on the relationship between Sally and Ryan. Not enough on the case. Needed more detective work and envolvement
of the other characters.

This is a fairly quick read, and if you have read the author’s Mac McRyan series I’m very confident you will enjoy it; if you haven’t read the McRyan series, I would highly recommend you start with this one and then read each book of the series in order they are that good. Reading this one makes me have a hope there is a new installment to the McRyan series coming soon. I picked this one up for free and, as I type this review, it is still free – grab it while you can!

Short story in the Mac Ryan series. It was solid, not as good as a full length book, but very readable. Mac and His partner dick are tasked with staking out an ex-girlfriend of a suspected thief in a Chicago robbery. At the same time mac's girlfriend asks mac to move in with her. There is nothing spectacular about the story, but if you have read the rest of the series it is well worth your time.

Short and sweet

I really enjoy this series. This story was set at the beginning of Mac and Sally’s relationship and we saw a little of that side of the story line. Per usual they solved the case and caught the bad guys. Do note this is a novella and not a full length story. Finished it in just a couple hours.

Mac McRyan is an entertaining read

So I would recommend this series to anyone interested in a really good book. I started with the first book and then I was hooked. It takes you all over the country but you know Mac is going to get his man. I was so impressed with the series that I got it on my Audible as well.

Could have used a "The End"....

An interesting read, combining storyline intrigue with page turnability. Brian (GBR) provided a good British narrative (text to speech). I might re-read this if I ever need a break in my regimen.

A good read albeit a beach book or rainy day novel.

I enjoy the writing, clear descriptions helped me see and feel what was happening. Characters were real. A large "mystery" reader, I'd recommend this to my reading friends.

Short, but sweet

This the first book I've read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed. It is a fast read but pretty satisfying all the same. A nice introduction to a new protagonist.

Commitment

My one criticism of this piece it abruptly ended without any warning. It followed the expected line. It was to short and I question its placement in the series. I would have preferred to read this one first before all of his previous books.

Review of: "Stakeout"

A good fast read. It was far too short, but guess it was supposed to be a teaser story. Anyway, its interesting and worth recommending and I do.

A good quick read!

I enjoy the McRyan series but I lost my reader. This was an opportunity to get acquainted with the Flanagan boys again!

Cute

This book is very cozy. Nobody even got their feelings hurt here. This was more of a short story than a crime novel.

Review of: "Stakeout"

This is a good fast read, but not necessarily the best I've read by this author, but worth the time reading it.

Interesting

Being only 6 chapters, it was more of a short story than a book. I liked it and will continue reading this series.

This was NOT book 6.5 in the series. More like a prequel, but.....it was a fun story and gave some insights to Mac, Sally, Lich, and Dot.

"Entertaining short"

I loved 'Deadly Stillwater' and grabbed this short story to continue the enjoyment. The settings were great and the cops played their traditional roles. However, as a short story I thought the plot line was uninspiring. As a result I found I noticed other elements that made me feel uncomfortable. Cops are cops the world over, I guess, and every conversation these guys were involved in tended to result in sexual innuendo. Whether it was a waitress, an ex-girlfriend or a work colleague. Maybe if the story line had been stronger I would have been too preoccupied to notice. Not as impressive as his novel for me.
