This story was ok to me, but really everything would have worked out sooner for them if they had just communicated with each other in the first place. Then again if they did that then there wouldn't have been a story at all. I wasn't really invested with any of the characters, but that could have been because this was a short story. This book didn't put me off of trying others from this author though.

Short, sweet and funny.
Short book, sweet characters and a funny April's Fools Day at the office. I really enjoyed this!

Aaah there is a promise of another novella…so where is it!! Tom and Amy are just too cute!

I chose this book because it is all about April Fool’s Day, and what is so special about that day…it’s my birthday!!! The only thing I hate about my birthday is the pranking because mainly I was the one who got pranked!! Doh!

So Jessica, the dragon queen of the office wants to introduce a pranking day, and like Secret Santa, you pick names out of a hat and that is who you have to prank that day.

This could not have come at a worse time for Tom and Amy, the night before he decided to tell Amy how he felt and she laughed in his face because she thought it was a prank. Next day things in the office are a little bit awk-ward!

What happens next is a lot of misdirection, misunderstanding and just a cute story into how one day in the office can just be crazy! It had me chuckling at the pages at everything that was happening and how cringy some of it was.

Even though this is a romantic comedy there was a twist at the end and it wrapped up this novella rather nicely. But do we know when the next one is out yet please??

Let me not sugar coat this review at all... I flat out DID NOT LIKE Who Does He Think He's Fooling? by Laurie Baxter at all.

What a juvenile, immature premise for a story!! Take two people that are coworkers and good friends, Tom and Amy. They both secretly like each other and want to take the relationship to the next step, but neither of them knows the other person likes the other person romantically, until Tom asks Amy to go on a date with him. But, Amy laughs in Tom's face because she thinks he's joking about taking the relationship to the next level... All of this takes place before the story even starts and we (the readers) only learn this information as the story starts with both Tom and Amy at work in a staff meeting the next morning where they can't even look at each other or be near each other because of the situation they've created and never (apparently) resolved in that moment.

I can't even begin to believe this scenario was even the premise for Who Does He Think He's Fooling? by Laurie Baxter. The plot goes from bad to worse when their boss, Jessica, makes matters worse by making the entire staff play a prank on each other that day by having staff members draw a name of the person they will play a prank on that day... Like say what? Fiascoes abound... Let me kindly skip the details for the rest of this story and save my blog readers the pain and prolonged agony of this story to its final conclusion.

Let's just say that Who Does He Think He's Fooling? by Laurie Baxter is the worst thing I've read this year to date.

This was a really short and sweet story. It's about two colleagues who like each other but refuse to accept it so as not to change their work equation. Tom and Amy are both thrown for a toss when their boss decides that the office needs more fun and as it's All Fools Day each person in the office is going to have a Secret Fooler...sort of like a Secret Santa but the person needs to play a prank on them. The antics between the officer people and the couple keeps a smile on your face for the full duration of the book.

Alright, the story was decent and fairly realistic. I enjoyed how quick of a read it was & that it wasn't totally bizarre. It was cute.

Summary💭
The story takes place in an office with the main chracters being Tom and Amy. Amy is expressed to be in her early 30's. I don't believe Tom's age was mentioned, but ao could have missed it. It occurs all within one day. Amy & Tom had been good office friends prior to the night before. Things are tense between them because Tom had asked Amy to actually go out. Thinking it was April Fool's Day & a joke, she laughed and rejected him.

Jessica is their boss & wants to create a teambuilding exercise for the office employees on April Fool's Day. She explains it as a Secret Santa, only with pranks on one another. Tom spends majority of the day trying to protect Amy from some "unreasonable" pranks, but each time ends up making things worse & looking like the guilty one.

The ending is happy, with Amy understanding what was going on "behind the scenes". There are not as many assumptions being made & they settle on going out on that date.

⭐️⭐️⭐️3/5
I know people have their own opinions on what they read, so I don't want to put it at a 2 just because I didnt love it. I could see the appeal of the storyline, the writing of it just knocked it down for me.

I had an extremely hard time understanding the writing. I found myself needing to return to parts. It was frustrating as this was not a super difficult storyline to follow. This could have been a 4 star for me if I didn't struggle so much to understand who was saying what, what people were replying to (because of how spaced out some of it would be).

It drove me crazy that the names Tom & Ted were so close, however...it later made sense. I felt like there were run-ons here and there that I really needed to re-read. So many characters would be mentioned...then a "he" would be thrown in and I would be questioning who "he" was. It felt strange when they would havr dialogue & then sharing theit inner thoughts in 3rd person.

Some people can overlook those things a lot easier. Something that caused me to also pause for some reason was about a character being pretty strong for pushing 40. I am only 30 and found myself wondering how old is the author to think there aren't some strong bad a**es in their 40's still?! Maybe I am just starting to show my age 🤣 However, the main characters are in their 30's.

After about 50% in, I realized that this would have made a great little duet alternating perspectives between Tom and Amy! I really think that would have raised my rating and helped in it being presented more clearly without jumping around.

I recommend to anyone that doesn't mind similarly written books, enjoys a short, realistic, office romance, & some silliness.

A Cute Pair of Shorts: Two Stories - This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed both humor-filled stories, which were well written and interesting. 4*

Cyber-Ella - Well written and funny; an exploration experience with anonymous online meet cute and no-so-cutes. 4*

The Rescue - Well written and funny; rookie rescues cat and gets well rewarded for his efforts. 4*

A Charlie Brown Christmas - I didn't know what to expect going by the title, but this little second chance story at friendship and misunderstandings was funny. Well written and interesting. 4*

Who Does He Think He's Fooling? - Absolutely hilarious! Just when you think things can't get worse, they do. Well written and full of humor. 4*

Amy and Tom

Jessica is her usual self, intimidating the staff as they arrive for a staff meeting. Amy uses the distraction to slip into a chair at the back of the room, then scans the room to see if Tom has arrived. She feels really bad about her reaction last night to his question. Then there's Jessica asking her a question. What is Pranksters day? Oh no! She's the last to draw a name! Who did Tom draw? What happens next and throughout the day will completely change the way you think of April fools day! Laurie Baxter has done a great job of keeping you turning the pages in this book! Read it and smile 😊

Tom and Amy work together and like each other. For some crazy reason their boss wants the staff to do April Fools pranks on each other. They chose names like a secret Santa game. Tom is trying to protect Amy from whoever her prankster may be. Funny little story of some crazy shenanigans of office mates.

premise great but fell a bit short

The idea of the book is cute but doing April Fool’s jokes on employees in a draw a name out of a hat type of situation is really unrealistic. Had the jokes been cute, it would have been a five star rating but feelings were hurt and things were damaged. This series is a one and done for me.

Short and Sweet

Their day couldn't get any worse, many better. Tom and Amy's office friendship is turned on its ear with a stupid team building idea. Things get funny when Chuck adds some unexpected fuel to their fire. A cute short read. Enjoy!!

Love??

Really private pranksters? Ok as a team building exercise this can go so terribly wrong and it did but also in a way went terribly right as well. Fun and entertaining if frustrating with all the miscommunication. Still enjoyable if chaotic.

This is a very short tale about an office friendship/romance misunderstanding. It is complicated by it being April Fool's Day and a boss who insists that everyone be a secret prankster. Very funny.

😶

Ok, first of all I got this for free, so I'm not going to b*tch about it (just for the hell off it)... Now, there are a few things I like to know before I add a book to my looong list of "to read", you might too so here it goes:
Is it a standalone? 🤔 Yes
Does it have a cliffhanger, in case it isn't? No? There's supposed to be more stories with this characters...
Does it have a HEA? Yes? I mean I think so..

Now here's what I think of this book (and happened to me):
Is it the best book I've ever read? No
Is it the worst? No
Did it make me smile? Yes
Laugh? No
Cry? No
Did it annoy me? YES!
If I knew what it was like first-hand, would I read it? I'm so sorry, but I don't think so... I was, for the most part, just feeling bad (a little mad too) for what was happening...

The boss from the crazy house, the coworker from hell, the confused friends, other coworkers, and a mandatory prank day. Laugh yourself silly with this farce worthy of SNL! It's nice and short, but will have you spewing your caffeine every time you think of it.

Light and fast paced

This author has a knack for quickly drawing interesting characters and placing them in realistic circumstances that lend themselves to comedy and romance. A light, fast paced story that left me wanting to know more about the protagonists.

I really don’t know where to start. It is a very funny story. Jessica has a date and thinks it’s April Fool’s Day. Next day she avoids him (at work). Hard-nosed boss does a Secret April Fool’s Day to make the workers more creative. Can the day get worse? YES!!!

4.5 super stars!

Don't be fooled by the cover! Though not the best cover, I did like the story quite a bit!

This story was adorable!

I enjoyed the little bits I saw of each character and the plot was cute and fast (unexpectedly).

I just wish there had been more! It was way too short! However, I liked how the action started soon and am interested in reading more by this author.
