Two dimensions - And the girl who connects them.

Yesterday, Drea Smith couldn’t do anything spectacular—even walking and texting at the same time was a challenge. But today, she suddenly has more answers than Google, can speak and understand numerous languages, and she can fight. Like a boss.

Super freaky.

Drea has no idea where her encyclopedic knowledge has come from, but she’ll take it when she discovers someone out there knows her secret and wants her badly. And that they’ve been searching for her since she was born.

Since she was created.

With the help of her best friend Dylan, who just wants to keep her safe, and Maddox, a mysterious new boy who is prepared to get her answers, Drea will have to push her new skills to their limit as she uncovers nothing is quite what it seems.

I have mixed feelings about the Road to Eugenica. It was so outside the box and not what I expected. I was hooked on every page because I wanted to find out what was happening, but also a little scared to keep reading.

Alexandrea seems like an ordinary girl. She's in love with her best friend and trying her best to tackle high school. The day a new boy, Maddox starts school everything starts to get a little strange. She can suddenly understand and speak foreign languages. She isn't struggling with her education and she seems to know things she hasn't learnt. Dylan, her best friend has always been a big part of her life, but the new boy has caught her eye. Alexandrea's life is about to get crazy and not in a good way. Her happy bubble is about to be popped and there is no going back. Nothing is what it seems. No one can be trusted. She wants answers, but her life may be in danger.

Road to Eugenica is a suspense mystery like no other. Two dimensions and one link. It's strange and interesting. It's like nothing else I've read.
*There will be a sequel to this book and the next book will make or break this story.

3.5 stars out of 5. This book had me wanting more all the way through, but I'm not sure I liked the consequences.

I loved the premise of this! Drea goes from an ordinary teenager to a girl with the knowledge of an encyclopedia in a day, and that’s just the beginning of the strange things that drop into her life. Her world is turned upside down, and she’s torn between two boys and the need to uncover the secrets surrounding her life. This debut novel is full of twists and turns, plenty of romance, and an ending that won’t disappoint!

I loved everything about A.M. Rose's debut YA novel, ROAD TO EUGENICA, from the main character Drea, to the plot twists and romance, and especially to the clever message of this story. This is a one-sitting read that you will think about long after you finish. I can't wait for the next book in the series to continue the adventure with Drea, Dylan, and the wonderful characters of this world. Great book, and an amazing new author to add to my one-click list!

It's hard to be surprised anymore, but this book is so unique! I became engrossed almost immediately! High school senior, Drea, has resigned herself to the friend zone with the attractive, athletic, Dylan, but when a gorgeous new boy enters the scene, Drea's world begins to change. Maddox is all about her, but just as things begin to get interesting with new guy, tragedy strikes. Suddenly, strange things begin to happen to Drea. She can remember anything. She can destroy it on Jeopardy! And physically, things are different, too. The anti-athlete can suddenly play sports and her body can heal unnaturally fast. Then, Drea's mother reveals a shocking secret and the story takes off in a wonderfully unexpected direction. If you like sci-fi and adventure in your YA, read this book. It's surprising, exciting, romantic, and left me eager for the next installment!

description

This book in a nutshell:

► Love triangle galore
► Teenage angst
► Precious friendship
► Betrayals, betrayals, betrayals
► Intriguing premise
► Bad-ass fighting scenes
► Overly naive heroine
► Unpredictable plot developments
► TSTL moments
► Made me tear up one or two times
► Connection at first touch
► Cruel cliffy!

All in all, while this wasn't half bad and a definite page turner, I feel like this book is more suited for an audience about 15 years my junior.
Seems like I'm starting to finally outgrow the YA genre.

I received a free ecopy in exchange for an honest review.

Yesterday, Drea was a regular high school student. Today? Today, she's suddenly super smart, can speak many languages, and she instinctively knows how to fight. She has no clue where her new skills came from, but she's not complaining. But, someone knows her secret and they're after her - in fact, they've been looking for her her whole life. With Dylan, her best friend, and Maddox, a new guy at school, they're going to get some answers once and for all. Drea will have to push her abilities to her limits as she begins to learn that nothing is quite as straightforward as it seems.

I'm so glad I tried this debut YA sci-fi novel. The concept sounded so fascinating that I could resist. It really hits its stride about a fifth of the way in, so don't be discouraged by the slower pace it takes in the beginning. It takes a little time to get going, but once it does you won't want to put it down. I particularly enjoyed solving the mystery with Drea, Dylan, and Maddox and all of the twists and turns that come at us. I also particularly liked the sci-fi elements, which we don't see often enough in YA - I'd go on, but I'd be getting deep into spoiler territory. In my opinion, the weakest aspect of this story is love triangle, but then again love triangles usually aren't a favorite, but it's handled here pretty well. We get a good sense of all three characters - in fact, that some of the reveals about these characters leave me absolutely dying for more.

Overall, Road to Eurgenica by A.M. Rose is a YA sci-fi debut that's well picking up - just be sure to give it plenty of time in the beginning to get going because it's going to be good. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this series will go. After that conclusion, I'm dying for more from this author.

The synopsis of Road to Eugenica instantly grabbed me, leaving me with the belief this was just the kind of book I needed. Being a fan of young adult science-fiction, I was more than happy to dive in with my high hopes. Unfortunately, this was one of those books I had a lot of trouble with.

My issues started quite early on, when I found I wasn’t sucked into the story. Having been excited for this one, though, I told myself to stick with it. Sometimes books are slow to start, sometimes you need to stick with things, and you can be surprised once you are part way through a book. Yet the percentage kept jumping – ten, twenty, thirty, forty, and so on – but it was at an extremely slow pace. I wasn’t sucked in, I was forcing myself to read. I wanted to enjoy this one, I really did, but I just couldn’t.

Mainly, it’s because I did not care about the characters at all. Our female lead left me rolling my eyes, left me disinterested in her life; the males were only marginally better, there were a couple of moments of interest but they were fleeting. I kept waiting for something about the characters to scream out to me, was waiting for an interest in any of them, but it did not happen. Without a connection to any of the characters, I didn’t much care about where the story was going.

What stopped this book from being a one-star rating was the science-fiction element. It was overshadowed by clichés and love triangle annoyances, but there was the potential there. Had the story focused more upon this, had we spent more time looking for answers rather than bouncing around all the teenage hormones, I may have cared more about the story. As it was, I found myself skimming sections unrelated to the science-fiction element.

Overall, this book wasn’t for me. I’m sure many will enjoy it, but it wasn’t what I was looking for.

Alexandrea Smith is an average teenager. She fights with her mom, adores her dad, and struggles at school. She’s been best friends with Dylan forever, but she wants something more.

Then something happens that changes everything. Full Disclosure: I am A.M Rose’s critique partner. And I love this story.

Suddenly school is a breeze and goodbye two left feet. It’s insane and inexplicable. Is this a chosen one story? Maybe. But what’s fresh about Road To Eugenica is Drea is still an average girl. Yes, she’s stronger, faster, smarter—but she’s not wiser. She’s still Drea, a girl who struggles with her insecurities and has no idea how to leave the friend zone, or whether she even should now that Maddox is in the picture. She’s a completely relatable heroine thrust into a role she isn’t prepared for. Watching her grow and learn to lead is fun…and often poignant. Save the world? First kiss? They’re both on her to do list, and she’s not sure which one scares her more.

This is a terrific exciting read, with a likeable heroine on a journey beyond her wildest dreams. Can’t wait for book two.

I usually have a low tolerance for love triangles, and an even lower tolerance for new guys coming into town and being all about the Plain Jane, average girl. But A.M. Rose establishes reasons for why these tropes are worth exploring in her story, more than initial assumptions.

The main character Alexandrea, aka Drea, has a coming-into-her-own journey that digs into contemporary and sci-fi issues, and takes her from the surfing domain of California to the tangled brush of Nevada. Every scene where she tests her new abilities could fit the song "I Am Woman" by Jordin Sparks, and every suspenseful part could fit the following gifs:

http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-conten...

http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/suspens...

It was absorbing to "watch" Drea transform not only physically but mentally, from a back-seat kind of person to someone who grabs the steering wheel. And her romantic subplot does involve a wish-fulfillment kind of love triangle (that sometimes made my eye twitch :-P), but the chemistry Drea shares with either guy doesn't make her forget about discovering what she is and how she's going to survive against an alternate dimension that will find her.

This is the first installment in a series, and I can't wait for Book Two.

What an exciting and adventurous journey through love, betrayal and sacrifice. I really enjoyed reading about Drea and her tragic journey to finding out who she really is. Plus the romance was a big part of me liking it too. What would you do if one day you wake up with extraordinary powers of strength and knowledge? Drea doesn’t know what to do and on top of that she loses her father and has two boys tearing her in two separate directions. Will she trust herself to pick the right path? My only complaint about the book is that it took a little bit for the story to pick up, but despite all the detail it ended up really helping the storyline and giving me the feels.

I would recommend this book to any young adult reader who enjoys sci-fi/fantasy with a healthy dose of romance and mystery.

Road to Eugenica is the first book in the Eugenica Chronicles.

I voluntarily received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this YA fantasy novel. It's a really unique story that completely pulls you into Drea's very unusual world.

Drea is head over heels in love with Dylan, however his 'friend zone' isn't really where Drea wants to be. Maddox arrives on the scene and things start rapidly changing.

Slowly everything begins to unfold, once it starts, it doesn't stop and just when you think you know where the story is going another twist pops up. I have quite a few questions left open when finishing this, I'm really looking forward to the next book and hoping for my answers !

Check out this, other reviews, and more fun bookish things on my young adult book blog,

When I first heard of Road to Eugenica, read the synopsis, and checked out the cover, I never expected to love it as much as I did. I mean, don't get me wrong, the book has a pretty cover and an intriguing synopsis, but neither of those do this justice - this book is freaking amazing and I loved it from the very first chapter, where I instantly decided that this could easily become a favorite series (yes, first chapter, no kidding). From the first page, even, I was hooked on the author's writing and didn't just want to keep reading, I felt like I needed to keep reading.

"I also know a warm is imminent. A war that'll forever change the fate of Stuitus, the dimension I've called home."

Alexandrea is a normal teenage girl - she goes to school, spends time with her parents (mostly her dad, with whom she has a close relationship), hands out with her best friend (who also happens to be her crush), Dylan, and can't think of anything that makes her unique or strange. Except the fact that in her dreams, and all the places she goes, she can see a strange, green-eyed man who seems to haunt her, scaring her, and making her unsure of her own sanity.

"Other kids dream of monsters who want to kill them or giant snakes that want to ear them alive. Hell, I've had those dreams. But they don't scare me like the Green-eyed man. I fight the images away and pray we won't be seeing each other on the other side of sleep."

Even though she has told Dylan about the green-eyed man and how he scares her, he doesn't take her seriously. After Drea gets sick one day and spends a few days in bed, being taken care of by her parents, she has some even more bizarre dreams, and can't wait to get out once she recovers. When she begs her dad to take her out for breakfast together one morning, a terrible accident changes everything for Drea and sets into motion a whole new chain of things that she can't even explain.

Drea starts to get new abilities - for example, she once struggled in Spanish class, but now can easily carry on a conversation in the language as though it were her native tongue. She can also surf with no problems, and then there's the new kid, Maddox, and the strange feelings that she has for him, despite the fact that Dylan keeps warning her to stay away from him.

When things start to escalate, and Drea finds herself on the run from the green-eyed man, she starts to learn some shocking truths about herself that she isn't sure she is ready to deal with.

"This is too much. All these things running through my head don't make any sense. I don't even like Maddox, like that. I'm starting to feel like an imposter. Like I'm living someone else's life. I've always been less than the understudy, more like the assistant's assistant. I'm not the girl who jumps in the middle of a fight. Or the girl boys say things to like 'let me make it up to you.'"

Drea's character was so well written and I found myself loving her adventure from the first page. I don't know what it is about her that I was so drawn to - whether it be the fact that she was independent, or the relationship she had with her dad, or the way she just describes things in general, but I felt so connected to her. I also liked Dylan's character, and I thought he was a good friend to her, despite the fact that that seemed to be all he wanted to be, while Drea clearly wanted much more than that. Maddox was interesting as well, although a bit hard to figure out for the first half of the book. The second half of the book had me really interested in him, as well. It's really rare that I find a book in which I love all the main characters, but Road to Eugenica really did.

The pacing in the first half of the book was a bit slower than I thought it would be, but it sets everything up for the second half, and the next book in the series. We really get an in-depth look at the characters, the settings, and the situation so we can fully appreciate it later, and it builds up as we go along.

While I'm not going to lie and say that all of it was full of twists that I couldn't figure out (one big one was kind of easy for me to piece together, but I can't say that it took away from the novel or anything, so there's that), there were a few that I honestly didn't see coming, including the very end of the book. Wow, I honestly never thought that would happen, and it did. It was kind of an explosive ending.

The cliffhanger the book left off at made me want more...I can't wait until the next book in this amazing series comes out. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book as much as I enjoyed Road to Eugenica, and if you're a science fiction fan, I cannot recommend it enough.

Road to Eugencia by A.M. Rose is an intriguing YA science fiction/fantasy tale. A young teen has her entire life flipped upside down and inside out...it's torn apart. First, she comes down sick, then, there's a car crash and her dad doesn't make it. Her mom is not who she thought she was. And then, there's two guys. One of them is her best friend forever, Dylan. He's crazy about Drea. Dylan wants to keep her safe. Next is Maddox. He too, wants to keep her safe.

Road to Eugencia is full of action, suspense, and danger. The attraction Drea feels towards Dylan feels real. After going through all the hell, Drea has to figure out whose after her and why. Staying safe, will be difficult. But with Dylan, Drea feels safe.

The shadowing from the end of this novel, has me wondering everything I thought I knew about Drea's situation and her best friend, Dylan. I can't wait to read the next book! Overall, I highly recommend it to readers everywhere.

A special thank you goes out to Entangled Teen, Netgalley and the author, A.M Rose, for giving me an eARC of this book. That no way influences my thoughts and opinions!

4.5 stars!

This book took me on a trip with my emotions. I was feeling all sorts of things left and right. Anger, sadness, frustration, happiness. Can I have the next book yet???? I know it doesn't say that there is but the book just can't end like that!

Anyway. I'll stop fangirling and get into the actually review. In this book, we follow Drea, who after an accident, finds out she is super incredibly gifted. She, along with her lifetime BFF Dylan and newcomer, Maddox, goes on a journey to find out what exactly she is and if she can truly trust those around her.

Drea was a girl after my own heart. She was into photography (which I am too!), was unsure of herself (I found a report card from preschool that said I lacked self confidence....), and often followed her best friend, Dylan, around. I was unsure about her friendship with Dylan. He seemed kind of shady but after a while, I really did grow to love them together.

I also really adored the relationship she had with her dad. Too often, YA doesn't show enough healthy dad/daughter relationships. I have such fond memories with my dad (still making memories all the time!), such as driving around with him while he did errands, listening to NWA and old school Eminem and playing Mario Party on the N64 together. There seriously needs to be more healthy dad/daughter relationships in YA books.

This book portrays grief very well. I won't spoil anything but Drea loses someone and throughout the entire course of the book, the loss will hit Drea at different moments. I thought this was incredibly releatic. The loss of a loved one never truly leaves you. A. M Rose did an excellent job of portraying something so tough.

As for the world building, it was good. We only learned about the world from what Drea learned since it was in first person POV. The book was more focused on Drea and her journey of finding out who she was. I hope we get more of the world of Eugenica since we only got brief views of it. It sounds super cool and just my type of world. That is my one teeny tiny criticism, if you can even call it that.

Overall, this book was awesome! That last 20% and the epilogue had me at the edge of my seat. I had to set my Kindle down a few times and just stare into the nothing, because my brain couldn't even process what was going. It was that good! I can't wait for the next book, if there is one. (I seriously hope so!)

"Road to Eugenica" is an intriguing YA fantasy. Alexandrea (Drea) Smith has always been pretty typical teenager- until her life begins turning upside down after a car accident. Not only is her father dead, but she is suddenly a superstar in school, has a bunch of new skills, and has a photographic memory. She has long been afraid of the 'green-eyed man' who haunts her dreams- and now she thinks she might be seeing him in the real world also. To make things more complicated, Drea is in love with her BFF Dylan who has her firmly in the friend-zone- and now there's a hot new classmate, Maddox, who seems to be interested in Drea.

While trying to figure out all the mysteries about herself she doesn't know and navigating this new romantic/friend field, Drea is also coping with the loss of her father and her distant mother. This book is like an origin story for Drea, as we spend the vast majority of the book determining which new skills Drea has and getting small tidbits about who she is and why she has these skills. By the end of the book, I still feel like I was left with a whole ton of questions, and so I am very eager to read the next book in this series.

I thought we would explore Eugenica some more (considering it's in the title), but we don't really learn anything about it until more than halfway through this book- thus, this really felt like an origin story/prequel to me. Regardless, I found it to be an enjoyable read, and I was completely invested in Drea and her life. I am really curious to see where this series will go, as it has a lot of potential. I found the beginning to be a bit slow, but the second half of the book picks the up the pace getting faster until the end, which gives you a bit of a cliffhanger. Some things (including the ending) were a little more predictable than I wish they were, but I still enjoyed this story which has a lot of sci-fi potential!

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

A story of self-discovery, romance, and knowledge! This is one of the books that will probably go unnoticed unless more people know about it! Through Drea's POV we learn her inner thoughts, her lack of self-confidence and her everyday life, before and after the "incident".

Drea gains the ability to have ALL the knowledge in her mind, like an encyclopedia! This is an interesting factor for a YA and mostly I liked her relationship with her father and her friendship-turned love with Dylan.

I do have to mention that this book also has quite a surprising cliffhanger! I didn't expect my reading pile of Januray to have so many cliffhangers!

An entertaining first book into an I enticing science fiction YA series that lacked capturing my attention in the beginning. Road to Eugenica massively improved as the story progressed, and I’m looking forward to what’s next. For those of you who are struggling to push through the first 20 percent, do it. You won’t be disappointed once the pace picks up.

I don't even know where to start. This book was everything. At the beginning it was pretty slow and the buildup took a long time. At times it was frustrating and slow read as the author was building the world and the atmosphere little by little, giving us as little details as the main character was getting and no more. The writing is beautiful and unusual, and this is without a doubt one of the most original and interesting books I have ever read and I cannot believe this is a debut.
Drea, the main character is a quiet average girl who doesn't really fit in with the crowd in school. Dylan is her best friend since they were six years old and he never leaves her side. Apart from recurring nightmares her life is simple and average, until the day one traumatic event changes her life and she discovers that she is not so average after all.
As she is on the quest to find answers, Dylan is there to support her, as is Maddox, the newcomer to their school. As the source of her newfound strength and uniqueness unravels, she realises that nothing is as it seems and some of the revelations are too difficult to bear.
What really got me glued to the book is the incredibly detailed and well accomplished character development. Towards the end of the book I knew exactly what Drea was going to do in a given situation because her character was so realistic and I got so drawn into it, that it was exactly what I would do if I were her. The same happened with Dylan and Maddox. Those three characters were so realistic and detailed, it felt like I knew them personally.
There was one frustrating point when I thought that action would never come, that this was just a romance novel, but I could not have been more wrong! The action did come and the whole world started unraveling and I felt like I went from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds! Not to mention the shocking ending. In any case, this is the book that needs to be finished to the last letter, all is revealed and then it abruptly stops. Everything stops and you find yourself wondering... Where is the next book???!!! And then with complete and utter sadness you realise that the next one is planned to come out in a year because this one just came out. :(
But I promise this is the only disappointment you might have with this book. It was an amazing read, I literally dropped everything to spend every moment with it. I am still hoping that the author will have mercy and publish the next book (Not Innocent) sooner than 2019.

Drea is a normal teenager, but with a clumsy streak. She lives with her somewhat indifferent mom and loving dad. Her best friend Dylan is always by her side helping her through each awkward crisis. Then one day everything changes, she can suddenly understand different languages, use computers like a pro, and fight like a ninja! She only lets Dylan in on her secret as she tries to understand what is happening.

She has one other challenge in life, the green-eyed man. Since the time she was a kid she would randomly see him wherever she went and in her dreams, where she seems to be in some futuristic world, he is always chasing her. When new comer Maddox enters her life, pieces begin to fit together, but then the green-eyed man makes a real appearance and she can no longer consider him a figment of her imagination.

Now she is on the run with Dylan and Maddox trying to figure out who she really is, why she has these powers, and how the green-eyed man fits into it all.

My Thoughts-

I enjoyed this story. It was fresh and engaging. The mystery of who Drea really is and what in the world she is dreaming about kept me going to the end. Then there is the love triangle, Drea loves Dylan, but he doesn't want to be more than friends. Maddox likes Drea, and when Dylan makes his friend zone feelings clear, she decides why not? But, can she really trust Maddox? The book gives lots of hints that he knows more than he's telling. Great tension.

Then we have the visions that Drea has while sleeping. They appear to be real, she wakes up with a cut she got while in the dream, but the book is very unclear as to whether that is the case. Is she living two different lives? Is someone sending her visions of a possible future? Are these memories? That one question really kept me reading, unfortunately the answer doesn't come and when the dreams begin to happen as foreshadows of the present, I got confused. BUT, the dreams are still really cool and I enjoyed the mystery. Other answers are revealed, so that makes it worth it. Plus, the twists! Wow, there are some crazy twists right up until the last page. So good! I'm giving this book 4 stars!

At first the read struck me as one of those, "Of course she's special and all that but can't see it" but then there was mention of the green eyed man that no one else noticed...and I was hooked.

The thing is despite some moments of tell not show - which really don't help the story at all - there is just something about this read that grabbed me and had me finish it in one sitting. I'm struggling to find the right words that aren't a ramble of: "What?" "How?" "No" and sighs added onto a bunch of gifs.

There was an unexpected twist And something that was revealed at the end that I really, really was hoping wouldn't happen

Seriously if YA sci fi is even vaguely your thing, give this a read.

WOW! Road to Eugenica by A. M. Rose is a young adult romance- science fiction book and part of the Entangled Teen series. I love this book, and I sure hope there are more books coming in this series This book has non stop action, twists and turns that kept me hooked until the end. Drea is trying to figure out why she has suddenly changed physically and mentally, and she will stop at nothing until she figures it out. Her best friend Dylan is there to help her every step of the way along with Maddox, a new friend who knows more that he is telling. I love this books unique story line, and strongly recommend it.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Road to Eugenica has been high on my wish list ever since I first heard about it. I love the cover and the tagline is 100% attention-grabbing. Plus have I ever been able to resist a debut? The answer: no!

The result? I liked but didn't love Road to Eugenica. I thought the premise was strong and the characters likable as well as interesting; however, I wish there had been more development. When it came to the romance, world building, and plot development, I was left feeling....underwhelmed.

Drea is a fun character. I found her to be feisty as well as likable. I loved seeing how passionate she was when it came to photography. Plus the photography hobby brought about a lot of drool-worthy descriptions of California. I also appreciated her connection to her father. It was sweet and well developed - I wish there had been more scenes between them. Dylan, Drea's best friend, was another great addition. He seemed like such a great guy; however, I did hate how seemed to be stringing Drea along. There was so many times I wanted to scream, "just admit your feelings!" Maddox, the new guy on the scene, was one character I just couldn't bring myself to like, though. There was something just so incredibly off about him, and he was also a hard character to get a grasp on. I couldn't tell if he was a bad guy, or a good guy, and honestly, his actions made little to no sense. He was a big question mark.

The premise is what originally appealed to me. I love books where an ordinary person suddenly becomes extraordinary, especially when there seems to be bad guys lurking around every corner, and that's exactly what I got here. It was interesting to see Drea go from being the scared and average teenager to someone who could speak several languages, hack into email accounts, and fight off men twice her size. Those scenes were actually some of my favorites!

However, while I enjoyed the premise and some of the development that came with it, more times that one I was left feeling underwhelmed. I wanted more - more world building, more of what Eugenica is, more about Drea's mom and the secrets she seems to posses, more on Maddox and Dylan, more on that green-eyed man. Over the course of the story, I kept waiting and waiting for big reveals to happen, for everything to suddenly become crystal clear, but that never seemed to occur. Yes, we got snippets of info here and there, but it just didn't feel like enough - even at the end, I was left thinking, "wait, what just happened?!" Also, I didn't completely like the romance. Drea's feelings seemed to be all over the place - one minute she loved Dylan, the next she seemed to be infatuated with Maddox and hating on Dylan, and the next she was gaga over Dylan again. It was incredibly inconsistent. I'm all for multiple love interests and crushes, but here it just didn't work well. I couldn't "get" Drea's reasoning sometimes, and it didn't help that I thought Maddox was creepy from the get go.

Despite these aspects, Road to Eugenica is a promising start. I have hope that the sequel will dive deeper into the world and give more answers.

Disappointing read, to say the least.

I really wanted to like this book because I love plots that have the main character thinking they're human only to find out that they have super powers and become badasses that save the world or whatever. This book had that, but I felt that the focus was more on the main character's relationship status.

Half the time I felt like I wanted to scream at the main character to focus more on where she came from than on what boy she has more of the hots for. Ugh! And I get it. She's young, naive and her hormones are freaking raging all over the place, but when faced with more pressing matters like..I don't know...who am I? Where do I come from? What are all these visions I'm having? Where are these super powers coming from?...you would think that would take precedence over, 'which boy should I sleep with?'. Sigh.

I felt as if the author had such a great story within her grasp and then she let it slip away.

Also, with a lot of situations that the main character went through, you would think that she would have a lot of character growth, but it just seemed that the more I read, the more I felt as if the main character was getting dumber and more naive. So frustrating.

I am giving it a two star rating because this book had a great concept and the potential of the storyline/plot was there, but that was about it.

The writing was mediocre, character development for all characters was not there at all and I felt very relieved to have ended the book because I was honestly fed up with hoping that this book would take a turn for the better.
