After being struck by an Iran-backed terrorist attack, Israel gives Iran a 72 hour ultimatum: clear out your military bases before we destroy them by air. Iran responds: enter our airspace, and we will launch nuclear attacks on Israel and on all U.S. bases in the Mid-East.
With 72 hours to stop a nuclear Armageddon, there is only one man to turn to: Luke Stone. The President sends Luke on his boldest mission yet: to airdrop into Iran and find the secret location of the underground nukes, so that the U.S. can take them out before it’s too late.
In a mad race against time, Luke takes us on a roller-coaster through the chaotic and confusing terrain of Iran, as he scrambles to find their most-guarded secrets and prevent a war from destroying all mankind. Yet as one shocking twist follows another, it may, even for Luke, be too late.
Jack Mars is author of the bestselling LUKE STONE thriller series, which include the suspense thrillers ANY MEANS NECESSARY (book #1), OATH OF OFFICE (book #2) and SITUATION ROOM (book #3).
Read all the books in this series, they are almost stand alone books but if you read them from the beginning you'll enjoy this book more. Very good timely discussions about Israel and Palestine, Iran Nuclear program. Luke and his group are trying to stop nuclear war, between Israel and Iran. Many detailed fights and killings, some unbelievable actions. This is a fiction, but author and editors completely missed time zones at the beginning of every chapter. That reason gave four stars.
Exciting thriller using real world situations in a fictional account
The Luke Stone adventures are so up to date, the characters well described ,the plots believable and intense, with realistic action that has you turning pages until a wonderful ending. Any thriller reader who opens the book will be drawn into the story, as Luke goes with his team to search for nuclear silos in Iran. This story may be read as a standalone, but you will enjoy much more by learning of all the characters through the other books in the series. Knowing the psychological profile of several characters helps you understand why they do certain things as the author presents them with new challenges.
This is the best book of the series. An excellent plot that moves with great speed, there is never a dull moment and it is suspenseful in parts. The characters, both old and new, are well written (except for the President, she is now acts like a teenager. And Jack has yet to write a General that is not war happy but this is a small knock on an overall great book.)
The whole idea of this plot is a little over the top. Also, the idea of the main character having an ongoing affair with the female President of the United States is a stretch. The book is a quick read though and if you have nothing better to do.... A generous 3 stars.
This one picks up a bit after the last book. Now our hero and the President are lovers. Also, the President is in a hunt for a VP to replace the last one, which was killed.
When someone fires on a line of jeeps patrolling an area, was fired upon and one of the passengers kidnapped, something had to be done. Meanwhile our hero's group was finally back together again with support from the President. What was also mentioned was the fact our hero and the President were spending time inside her bedroom even if they were discreet about it.
Due to the kidnapped person, the country on the other side of the line was now firing back on the ones who took the passenger. Many innocents were killed along the way.
However our hero was trying to put his relationship with his on back together, trying to figure out the custody of his son, the relationship of the President with him, and then there was the attention to himself which he did not want. He couldn't do his job if everyone knew about him and kept watch on him.
When there's a hint that nuclear arms might be used, they need a small skilled team to get in, find it and get out again without anyone knowing. Our hero's team is up and in action once again. However, this time the President and our hero are both worried about each other during the mission rather than just a boss/employer type of mission.
Going around the middle east with his team in tow to find out who's in charge of this will take the team's effort and the help of 2 more special ops which helps them. One of them has is own reputation in this area and is ex military. The other is military but for another government.
Will they find it in time and get the hell out or will our hero die on the job in front of the President and lover?
The plot was ok, but the mission sounded dumb and unbelievable. It was written well and did keep your interest. The extra ops people were a good choice and helped the story a long. It did keep you reading because you wanted to know what was going to happen at the end. However, the author, in my opinion, kept going back to the President and hero relationship at the same period without asking more or different questions and it got to be annoying. It didn't seem like they were getting any place.
When Jack Mars was writing political thrillers that included some very good action sequences, he was up near the top of his genre. Now he has moved to the plain old action thriller, ala Vince Flynn and others, he's just another small fish in a big pond. And, to make matters worse, he has Stone having an affair with the president.
I'm thinking this will be my last read of a Luke Stone novel. Just not enough to keep me interested.
I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. Luke Stone along with his team seem to defy the odds stacked against them. Wow is the only thing that can sum my experience with this story. Keep up the good fight Luke; keep righting these stories Jack!
I like the characters in this series. But the hero who prevents nuclear holocaust schtick gets a little old. Should have focussed more on the relationship with the son/team members instead of this retarded puppy love bs.
Always a great time when you read one of the Luke Stone Thrillers. This book was no exception. Political problems between Israel and Iran escalate and our favorite operator is sent in to do the dirty work. The banter between Luke's partner Big Ed and the Israeli Kiddon is refreshing. Not to mention Luke's new girlfriend "sitting" at home worrying like a teenager.
Jack Mars stays true to the plot and as always has interesting characters. This is one episode you don't want to miss. Ends with a real bang.
All in all not a bad plot about the nuclear tensions between Iran and Israel. However, the notion of the lead character sleeping with the President and influencing national policy was absurd. Additionally, at the conclusion of the book the author kept talking about supersonic fighter aircraft. When attacking ground targets fighters don’t do it at supersonic speeds, more likely 480 knots or 540 knots. The same for attacking a helicopter inflight, which would be at even slower speeds. He needed to do more research.
Tensions have risen between Israel and Iran with both threatening nuclear obliteration to the other which would also leave much of the rest of the world in peril. The president sends Luke and his team in to find the hidden nuclear weapons in Iran so that the military can destroy them. The team only has 72 hours to pinpoint the bombs and get out before they are blown up by US bombs or worse vaporized by the threatened nuclear holocaust.
Jack Mars has hit the mark on this one. A real page turner that never fails to keep you interested. Jack Mars has continued the saga that is the life of Luke Stone and his band of saviours on another journey into the perils of US Government work. This will make for a good read if you haven't read the earlier Luke Stone novels, but do yourself a favour and start from the beginning as reading this one will make you go back to the start and see how it all began.
Another great book in the series. The characters are developing nicely. This one takes an interesting twist. Really great international thriller. Found it really interesting how China in the book as well as in reality have found a loophole Ian international laws. By creating man-made islands, they are trying to get more of the sea. Pretty brilliant move, definitely going to cause trouble as the years go by.
As an American living in Israel this one hits close to home. It opens with an Israeli soldier being kidnapped to Lebanon and this quickly escalated to Israel and Iran being on the brink of nuclear war. This is where Luke and his friends join the chase. Another action packed mission for Luke and Ed, with a new character being introduced. For those who have read the previous books in this series, this one does not disappoint.
I keep reading because this is definitely my genre but the simplicity and the elementary way it’s written is at time disappointing: I mean are there really hang gliding rentals in Iran? Maybe…..who knows but to also conveniently have emergency parachutes too and the fortitude to come up with plan in 240 pages?? I don’t know…but I also can’t quit reading either
Mars out did himself with this Luke Stone thriller. Outstanding job tieing together the characters from the first five books. My best compliment is that I listened to it on Audiable and enjoyed the narrator so much that I listened to the entire book on 1.0 speed - did not want it to end! Looking forward to number 7 to see where the complicated relationship with Madam President goes.
Have read the previous 5 in the Jack Mars series and this one was right up there with the others in its ability to keep the reader strapped in for an intense roller coaster ride. Though political, the author keeps his own politics a mystery. Can't wait to get my hands on the next in the series!
I could read this series for ever. As always, this was another good book and hard to put down. Like and Ed have company this time. Ed and their new friend don't get along at first but soon become best of friends. Hope you like it as much as I did.
The relationship between Stone and the President keeps getting stronger- but he also has a duty to protect the country when it is threatened. 2hen a young Israelie soldier is captured, the country of Israel and Iran are close to annihilating each other with nuclear bombs. stone and his team have to he,p
Jack Mars continues the Luke Stone series with another brilliant book Our Sacred Honor is a fantastic read full of none stop action from start to finish.. Once started you have to finish it, it is that good. Roll on book 7!!!
Easy to read, intriguing and intense. Fictionalized accounts of possible real- world events create a thankfulness in the reader for real life heroes like Luke Stone and team.
Again, an action packed adventure with Luke Stone and his team. This book was excellent. The story plot and line were outstanding and believable. On the edge of your seat action.
The Luke Stone series just gets better and better. Well written with characters you want to follow. Fast paced from beginning to end.Well done Jack Mars. Do yourself a favor get to reading now!
This time, Iran and Israel are about to butt heads, and trade nuclear missiles... unless "someone" can infiltrate Iran and find out the exact location of the nuclear missiles, so America can remove them first, and stop a middle eastern apocalypse. Another page turning Luke Stone thriller.
I didn’t like this book as much as the others. All the background information I found very boring. I will not read anymore in the series because of this book. All the other books previous to this one were fantastic reads.
Good story. Editor needs to work on typos and words in the wrong order. As much as I enjoy this series, it gets tiring seeing the same old descriptions of characters. Especially Kurt Kimball. Enough of his bald head already!!! Lol.
I'm still loving this series of books, though I have noticed that Jack Mars tends to skip any part of the narrative that might involve romance or feelings... but I guess he's writing to his strengths and great strengths they are :)
