This is book 1 of this awesome new series about these Fate Mountain Bears, I read Book 2 last night and loved this one as well.
Leland Kincaid the oldest brother of 4 is called back to his childhood home Timber Bear Ranch on Fate Mountain after 7 years of absence because of his father's death. He finds out that he has been willed 1/2 of the ranch and the role of alpha which he never expected having left under less than great relations with his father. What he never expected besides that were the dire conditions under which his father left the ranch. He would have to quit his great job in Texas and find a way to save the ranch which has been in their family for generations. Another thing he never expected was walking into Fate Mountain Brewery and finding his mate there.
Sylvia is a 29 year old working for the Tax Department as an auditor. She is tasked with the job of going to Fate Mountain and auditing a property that is in serious arrears. She decides she needs a drink before she has to dive into the properties papers in the morning. She has a lovely night and in the morning when she pulls into the property she has to audit, she is met by a very handsome and surprised cowboy, not to mention her surprise.
Will Leland and his brothers be able to save their legacy in time?
There is more than meets the eye at Timber Bear Ranch which might be one of the main reasons the darn Updike Hyenas are so intent on getting their filthy paws on it.

I’m rating this a 3 1/2 stars swinging for 4. Perhaps I should say growling towards 4 stars. This was an imaginative tale for me. I’ve read shifter books before but this is the first one I’ve read where it was public knowledge and acceptance of a shifter. Fate mountain is dominated by bear shifters but when Leland is made alpha after the death of his father he learns there are a growing number of hyena shifters. They are destroying and corrupting a normal quiet safe place to live.
Sylvia is an auditor and meets Leland when she comes to audit his newly inherited debt, I mean ranch. Actually Sylvia is tired of the dating scene and goes on a shifter dating sight. It is there where she is matched 100% fated with Leland. She is stunned even more when she sees him walking through the door of the bar in town. That I found intriguing as Leland animal instinct tells him she’s near by but things moved a little too quickly. I was still willing to overlook that because I liked Lelands gentlemanly character.
I love a Hero who is tough as nails, confident and smart but a true gentleman. It also showed his alpha without describing past escapades. The story moves sort of fast and could have used more time establishing a tighter bond. I get that it is supposed to be a primal law of sorts that he instantly attached and that once he bites her it is all based on that contact that connects and bonds but I am still just a human girl wanting to see a deeper connection. Still an interesting read that I got off the freebie list. Enjoy!

A new series set in my favorite fictional mountain where fate draws two people together and love conquers obstacles set in their path.
Leland Kincaid returns to Fate mountain due to the death of his father. He is first shocked by the news that despite the rocky relationship with his father that the ranch has been left to him and he is named alpha of his bear clan. I give this book 2.5 stars due to the kind of abrupt ending, IMO. I enjoyed the story and I liked the relationship between Leland and Sylvia. What I didn't like was the kind of skimming over the bad parties in the story. There was no resolution on the several key things that Leland discovered his first day there. That may come in future books, but it was little to open ended for me. Also, I would have liked to see more from his brothers, but I'm sure we will see them in upcoming books.

This is a return to Fate Mountain in two ways.... 1) more stories about shifters, and 2) a shifter comes back home. This is Leland's story. Leland is a cowboy bear that left home after this shifter wars, and unending conflict from his dad.
He's back home but isn't sure why, or for how long. His father is dead, he just wants to hurry up and leave. That ends up not being in the cards easily!!! His father named him Alpha, even though he left to go his own way.
Turns out the ranch is deep in debt, and unpaid taxes. Then, an auditor is coming. The night before the auditor's arrival Leland meets his mate in the bar in town. The next day, he finds out his mate is his auditor!!!!
Will Fate take a hand in this mess and bring a happy ending to all, or when his mate is kidnapped can he find and save her in time???
So well worth reading!!!! I voluntarily leave my review for this gifted ARC, but I also bought a copy!!!!

But his third brother, Cyrus is living in the mountains and only comes down to get supplies if he can find it on the mountain. Leland is shocked to learn that his father left him the Ranch and the title of “Alpha” of the clan. Only problem is that his dad left Timber Bear Ranch in such bad shape, that it will take a miracle to save it from enemies they won’t see coming till it is too late. But that isn’t the only problem he is going to face. The auditor coming to examine the Ranch books is his mate!!! Who would have thunk? My things could get messy. Sylvia Barker is tired of the gruesome dates her mom keeps arranging for her and she just wants to settle down and be happy with a sane man even if he is a shifter. Loved this great start to the series
Loved it brilliant first book of the series. Leyland comes home after the death of his father to find he has been left the farm and made him alpha of the clan. Sylvia has been given a new case to audit a farm at fate mountain bags packed she leaves for fate mountain once arrived and settled in Sylvia goes out for food while at the diner she sees the mate.com website and decides to join she gets a 100% match straight away. After a hard day
Dylan’s goes into town for a beer when his phone beeps he has got a 100% match as it is in the bar he can smell something different and the lady he has been matched to is there. After a night together they both leave as the have appointments to get to only that when Sylvia arrives at her appt the timber bear ranch Leyland is there to great her. Leyland wonders how she found him until it all comes clear she is there to do the audit. Sylvia and Leyland work together but the state of the finances and what his father left is looking bad and the Updike brothers keep asking them to sell the farm. Sylvia is taken as hostage to force the brothers to sell after a fight and a couple gun shots later arrests where made and gold discovered. After some weeks of mining the brothers are able to pay the half a million dollars to the tax man with the last million in instalments but with the gold they will be able to pay that off. Leyland asks Sylvia to move into the ranch with him as his wife to be and mother to their unborn cub.

What an awesome introduction to this mixture of brothers, each different in their own way, but yet similar, as they fight to retain the ranch left to them by their father, even if it comes with more headaches and problems than it may be worth. Leland Kincaid has been summoned home after the sudden death of his father, only to learn that he has been given majority control of the family ranch, as well as it’s debts and problems. But it doesn’t stop there, as suddenly, the government has seized the ranch’s assets, and is sending an auditor. Sylvia has been awaiting a new assignment after finishing up her last one over a week ago, and after her last attempt at a blind date that her mother set up for her, she’s fuming, almost ready to give up on the men of the human species. She’s decided that this will be her last blind date! Off to Fate Mountain for work, but what awaits her there could possibly change her life forever! When Leland stops in to the brewery for a quick drink to try and forget his new-found problems, he immediately knows his life is about to change…he’s scented his fated mate. Now all he has to do is find her! Will fate shine kindly down on them? Or will they loose it all before they even get a chance to know what it is?

Love These Characters
Leland and Sylvia. This full length book is the first in a series of stories about four grizzly bear shifters and the women destined to be their mates. Leland has been estranged from his family for several years. He finally returns to Timber Bear Ranch after his father's death. Instead of a welcome, he learns that the Kincaid brothers' ranch is deeply in debt and about to go into foreclosure AND his fated mated is the auditor assigned to decide the fate of the ranch. Whew!
This character driven story is exciting, sexy and hopeful. Not prone to whine and curse fate, the brothers meet challenges head on with strength, dignity and resolve even faced with seemingly insurmountable odds and evil hyena shifters. I really love these characters and found myself worrying and routing for them. I hope you read this book and enjoy it as much as I did.

Chief Bear: Rescue Bears alpha finds his mate from a shifter dating app but he cannot accept that she wants to be his mate, and she having been treated so badly by past boyfriends she cannot trust that she is good enough for him.
Commander Bear: Police Chief Rollo Morris is out to solve a crime and finds his mate and trouble with the mafia.

I haved enjoyed every one of the Fate Mountain books I have read...the Timber Bear Ranch series is no exception!
Sylvia and Leland's story is filled with so many problems to be handled, but they stay strong throughout.
When the Kincaid brother's father died, he left them in a horrid mess financially, to the point they could lose everything. On top of that, outlaw hyena shifters were trying to basicly steal the Timber Bear Ranch from them...but why?
Sylvia is the tax auditor and also Leland's mate. Would she lose him when the audit was completed?
Great story filled with both laughter and tears, angst, disappointment, and hope.
Plus, you get two more Fate Mountain stories as a bonus!
Can't wait to read what happens in the Buck's story...Saw Bear!

This book is the first in the Timber Bear Ranch series about four grizzly bear shifters and their fated mates. With his father’s death, Leland returns to Timber Bear Ranch and instead of a welcome, he finds out that the ranch is deeply in debt and about to be foreclosed on. This brings in his fated mate, Sylvia, the auditor assigned to decide the fate of the ranch (the fates do so love to put twist and turns into your life).
This story is so well worth reading! You have great characters, suspense, romance, kidnappings, and two bonus books on the end. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

•Sylvia is a strong independent woman. She absolutely knows how to take care of herself.

✔Loved the characters
•Sylvia is a strong independent woman. She absolutely knows how to take care of herself.
•Leland is a great leader. He comes back home to take over as Alpha and handles it like a boss. He's strong and honest and always makes sure Sylvia is happy.
✔A good amount of drama with this one too.

✖The story started out slow. After the brewery scene it took off from there.

DNF @ Chapter 13
I tried but literally NOTHING has happened in 12 chapters and there’s only 22! This has got to be the most boring, uneventful shifter book I’ve ever read. The grammar wasn’t bad but the writing was pretty elementary. Lots of repetitive stuff like how many times we had to read about Leland being gone for over 7 years and working at another ranch in Texas. Even once the couple meet there aren’t any sparks or anything big that happens. They go out to dinner one night and somehow devour their whole meal and dessert in the span of only a couple sentences. There’s something really missing in the writing and the story.

Cute story, annoying typos!
It's definitely a cute story, because I'm silly in thinking that bear shifters would be soft, furry, and cuddly. (With 6" long knives at the tips of their fingers!). I'm sure it stems from collecting teddy bears. It is a basic story, but the characters are likeable. My problem with the book was the number of errors. Missing words, the wrong form of the words, and there was a run of homonyms, too. I really dislike the lack of care shown by so many errors.

Leland gets his mate and a huge debt
The story was all right. I think.The idea was ok just not executed right. It was definitely lacking. They knew something was wrong and get never pursued it. Sylvia boss being a hyena shifter was kind of glossed over. I really think a lot could have been done with that like getting him fired. The kidnapping was pretty much a joke. It had some good stuff in it. I would have liked Cyrus to show up for the wedding.

Fun read
I found this story to be a quick read with a love at first site/smell story line. You know shifters do have great noses. I wish the author would have given us a little bit more of a background story with our hero. At times the story seemed rushed and parts of the story felt like they removed more then they should have with edits. All in all it was a fun and entertaining read.

When Leland got a message saying his dad died, he went home to find a big mess. The Ranch was in trouble, and was being audited. Sylvia is sent to audit the business and find out they are mates. I enjoyed this story as I find this author writes interesting and endearing characters with lots of heat and always a HEA. Great job on incorporating Fated Mountain's other series characters and "Beautiful" and "Gorgeous"

Totally what I needed!
What can I say when an author answers the question of when are you going to write more about the bear clan and she totally delivers a Sexy and well crafted story that makes you want more but also introduces you too new characters along the way. If you've kept up with the Fate Mountain crews then this storyline is a must read for you.

I felt that this novel was more directed towards older women because of the words used and the way it was written.. the characters to me felt like they were in their 60s. It just had that feel about it. That being said the characters are likeable, but the plot is so flaky it crumbles! Some parts more than others i liked though.

whew this was good
Hyenas and bears oh my! Scarlett Grove wrote a thriller of a book. It was filled with a bit of terror from evil hyenas in bear country like really. I guess we needed a bit of drama for the bears. Lots of dramatic turns of events but in all it was a good read and look forward to book 2 in this series. Just adore the Kincaid boys

Excellent!!
Totally adored this story. Another great one from the author. Very little violence, a bit of sexual content, a heaping amount of romance in the form of a very caring, loving bear shifter. A must read for shifter lovers.
