Dystrumpia: A Trump Dystopian Novel

Rate this book
The year is now 2023. In the past seven years, Trump’s implementation of far-reaching policies to remake the nation has indeed created a new America – one rife with racism and sanctioned segregation, where only an elite few have access to proper health care and education. The Trump News Network would have people believe that everything is great, but to the millions of people who are slipping to the bottom rungs of society, life is anything but fine.

Dr. Brian Williams does his best to help others around him survive in this new world. But after being constantly persecuted for his political beliefs and the color of his skin, Brian feels his faith in America fracturing as the anger and hatred that have become so commonplace throughout the nation begin to infect him as well.

When he meets a group of people who promise a better alternative, will their hope for a brighter America be enough to trump the darkness that has spread across their country?

I'm a teacher, father, and storyteller fascinated by how big ideas shape little moments (and vice versa!). My work spans from whimsical children's tales to tongue-in-cheek historical parodies—always with a spark of adventure.

For Young Readers: The Capybara Adventure Series, where lovable siblings Carlos and Camila explore nature, solve fun mysteries, and learn about caring for our planet. Aimed at Grade 2-3 readers, these lighthearted journeys introduce curiosity, empathy, and environmental themes in every chapter.

For Adventure Lovers of All Ages: My comedic passion project The Lucifer Journals, a 70-volume saga in which a well-meaning cosmic observer (a.k.a. Lucifer) accidentally triggers humanity's major turning points—agriculture, armies, organized religion—often with chaotic and hilarious results. Each volume reimagines how human history might unfold if one well-intentioned meddler just couldn't keep his hands off the timeline.

Whether I'm teaching in a classroom, sharing bedtime stories with my own kids, or spinning a quirky alternative history, my goal remains consistent: to spark wonder and laughter, and to remind us that even the biggest adventures start with a single curious step.

Wow!

That may be number 1 worst book ever. Save yourself and just give up reading if you feel compelled to. No redeeming qualities. Sophomoric beginning to end.

An interesting book that should be read during this frightening time. And not just because Coronavirus is running rampant in our country and the world, but because of what is currently going on in Washington DC. Mr. Finks does a good job of mimicking President Trump and the remarks that he puts in Trump's mouth are not hard to believe. The main character is this book, Dr Brian Williams, is trying to help those folks that are not able to get help through the regular health system. He goes to a meeting of concerned citizens and inadvertently gets involved with a group known as The American Party. This group is trying to stop what is going on in 2023, seven years into a Trump presidency. Much of what he attributes to having changed in America by 2023, is happening right now. His reference to a quote from Animal Farm is very timely, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others," is something we are seeing happening in our current society. And much of what he writes could be a vision of another book, 1984 - mass surveillance and totalitarianism. The picture he paints is a scary one. We might all imagine what another four years of a Trump presidency could look like; but Finks has written about it and what he has written should move everyone to search deep inside of ourselves and ask, "what do we want for our country and for our future?"

Interesting, and scary

One possible future under Trump is described here. It's a worst case scenario, one I doubt will happen, but then again, not everyone took Hitler seriously in 1933. I enjoyed the book, and yes, the grammar was well done, lol.

Fun read, scary but hopefully not true

Fun read, a look at what may happen with "The Donald" as President. Enjoyed and a fun read. 😀 😀

Scared me silly.

Terrifying glimpse into a possible future. Well written. Gave me goose bumps because there is a definite prophetic feel to the entire book.
Must read for ANYONE.

I don't see a reason why many Republican Americans (or those who voted Trump) hate this books by only ready few chapters of it. This is a work of fiction, not a political science peer-reviewed journal, so author is not liable to give ultra-realistic background to why things are happening in the first place.

This book is very much like those authotarianism gone wrong books, e.g. Hunger Games series, George Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm. Yet, author managed to encapsulate the situation with present day America to add realistic feeling to it.

Those who deem themselves humanist, progressive, intersectional human rights advocate will like this book.

Kindle Unlimited, although it was freebie one day and would have been verified didn't get to check my usual sites so missed it that way, but wanted to read and see what it said. Unlike a few 'reviewers' no it does not count if your reader would not read it properly nor if you read the blurb and then didn't read it yet left a review anyway for something you didn't even read, and no not even if you claimed you couldn't get through it for whatever reason, because if you don't read the entire book, you shouldn't be able to do a review for the entire book. For the self professed politically and governmentally 'knowledgeable' the best bet would not to full out show your ignorance of these things while dogging on something about those things, as all you managed to do was show your ignorance...of those things and more, but enough bother about you and your ilk.

This book basically reminded me of a mix of 1984, Animal Farm, the rise of the Nazi and Communist parties and dictatorships, all the times in this country and in others that people have been subjected to genocide, hatred, religious bigotry, and more, and how this very thing was such as issue in the last election, by a person who could not even manage his own businesses, his own money, his own relationships, but instead suckered so many in to following a path of a xenophobic anti-muslim misogynistic vet deriding disabled mocking 5 time draft dodging war mongering blowhard of a moronic coward. Martin Niemöller wrote about this, {excerpt} "First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-because I was not a Socialist. ... Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me." A person that has never held political office, yet complained about those that have, and now is doing the same things and much worse than those he complained about, from 'draining the swamp' to filling it up with much more worse swamp monsters and those who have no concept of the very jobs they are supposed to be doing, those who care less for the Constitution than a piece of toilet paper they wipe their backsides with, an unstable baby who watches SNL and faux newz yet can't be bothered to be in the 'War Room' during missions, who would and could easily get the entire country nuked in a 3 a.m. twitter twit fit.
