The third-year students have taken on the individual tournament of their final high school national championship, each carrying their own resolutions in their heart. The final between Queen Shinobu Wakamiya and Arata concludes with a gripping battle of fates that ultimately leaves Arata with the victory. Chihaya and Arata have vowed to one another that they'd become stronger. After a long summer where they all fought with passion, it's now time for Chihaya and the other third-years to take their next step. While Chihaya promised Shinobu that they'd meet again at the Queen Match, she finds herself unsure of what to do now...!
Autumn comes as she decides to move forward, even if she has to do it alone. It's time to make it to that promised match together with her determined heart!

I finished reading Chihayafuru 181 to 184 (idk the volume cause I just follow the chapters and this is the most recent volume I can find here) over the weekend and lemme tell you Sth. If Taichi continues this fuckery he's gonna catch these hands!!! Is he trying to become Suou-san version 2.0??? Hone your own skills you bastard. Taichi is so focused on his jealousy of Arata that Arata's kindness and desire for the three of them to be united again is so refreshing and pure!!
And I also have a complaint: WHY DO WE SEE SO LITTLE OF ARATA??? I NEED MORE!!! SHOW ME HIS KARUTA MOVES DAMMIT!!
Favourite moment: Sudo calling out Taichi on the bet that whoever lost the match has to quit karuta by challenging that whoever wins the match has to play Karuta forever. (In Chihaya's words "Sudo-San is the same as always" 😂😂) because we all know Taichi doesn't really love Karuta and if for some God forsaken reason he does win, I'm going to be pissed because Sudo actually loves the game and is passionate about it!! Taichi winning would be an insult to all dedicated and serious players throughout the series. Also, someone needs to teach the wannabe a lesson and I think Sudo is the perfect person for that.
I also have no idea what Harada sensei was playing at by mentioning Arata when Taichi was around. He seems kinda shady to me now and if he thinks that Taichi will become meijin and beat Arata or whatever, lemme tell you Sth, I will officially start holding a grudge against him because TEAM WATAYA 5EVA!!!But seeing Chihaya's face at the mention of Arata was worth the shady scene (COME THROUGH OTP).
Plot: In this volume, we see Chihaya working hard to stay true to her promise to her mother of studying hard for college entrance exams and training for the Queen qualifiers. A part of me is satisfied that Shinobu realises that her lonesome journey as the strongest isn’t turning out well and that might be mean of me but there are just moments she can be quite mean and condescending that it’s infuriating. Characters: This volume focuses more on Chihaya and Shinobu and a bit of Sudō and Suō. It’s still a little sad to me to see that the other third-years aren’t participating in karuta like she is but I do understand why. A part of me wants to resent them for it but I have to remind myself that it’s the logical thing to do in that situation. Right, and Suō was acting so mean lol. Verdict: It’s an okay volume. I like seeing Chihaya’s progress on a lot of things but the volume could have been enjoyed more.

The Queen going through a crisis of confidence would’ve been cool…but it only lasted a whole chapter and a half. That was pointless. Also this is probably the lowest point cause the game isn’t the focus, which should naturally be the case cause they’re about to graduate but the way Chihaya is forcing to focus on karuta is just kind of boring.

this might honestly be my favourite volume- it begins with taichi coming back to chihaya after so long (in clubroom, at karoake and her house. just great), has sudo and chihaya together in the middle and ends with such beautiful shinobu exploration. i cried. i love this manga so much.
I returned to this manga after 2 years...and I dont know, I liked the parts where Taichi or Suou appeared, but otherwise most of this manga volume content didnt appeal to me much, it was a little bit boring reading for me.
