Thin Place is collection of thought-provoking vignettes; fresh mini-journies down paths inspired by the Celtic notion that this world and the next are separated by a veil. In most places in time and space this veil is thick, obstructing our view and keeping us here from seeing into there. It keeps us “in the dark." But in some places and moments in our lives, in some special experiences, relationships, and endeavors...the veil is thin, like gauze. It allows us to catch a glimpse of the glory beyond.
Duncan Campbell was a British journalist and author who worked particularly on crime issues. He was a senior reporter/correspondent for The Guardian from 1987 until 2010, and authored several books.
This a beautifully written book with some of the clearest Biblical insight I've read in some time. Protestant Christians and fans of Donald Miller will get a lot out of this book. Catholic christians will see a lot of begging-the-question moments but otherwise basically agree with everything said and appreciate the fresh enthusiam Campbell brings for those Thin places where it feels as though, like Michaelangelo's painting, our fingers brush with the fingers of God.
