Chasing Freedom

Rate this book
Freedom eluded Alice Evans for most of her life, yet it was the one thing she desired the most. A childhood trauma steals her innocence and sets her on the quest for freedom, but the journey is long, hard, and full of constant stumbling blocks. Growing up during the era of segregation, Alice struggles to successfully form her identity while being caught between the merging of two worlds. Vaguely understanding who she is causes her to seek acceptance in the entertainment industry, but she quickly learns that show business is littered with shady practices, secrets, and lies. Repeated wrong choices with men leads her down a rocky road of violence and deception, causing her to struggle to maintain status quo while trying to raise her children on her own. Upon embracing the reality of her situation, she realizes that the freedom that continuously eludes her can only be gained by embracing God and taking a good, long look at her life. She divides her life into three her introduction to God and her Christian faith, her rebellion from her faith, and her reconciliation of her faith. It is during this reflection that she realizes she spent most of her life searching for something that she had the entire time.
