5 star for the story but many things about Krishnadeva Raya and what he did is alarming, maybe he did it because of patriotism. I wonder if society would have hailed if a woman did the same? How he maintained good friendship with the portuguese could have been elaborated since history has always painted animosity between Europeans and Indians pre-colization.

In some way, I think India falling under British rule was "karma" for the Indian kings being petty, vain and brutal. Definitely a good read, made me wonder about a lot of things.

For reasons, I failed to admire him.
