The Ship fled a dying Earth to save the human race.

Launched as the last gasp of humanity, the Ship set out to preserve the species by seeding the universe with one billion colonists. Generations of Crew, trained to be either Flight or Marines, have spent 5,000 years protecting the Ship and its civilian cargo from the constant threat of alien violence.

Fifteen-year-old Zax has always had trouble fitting in with the other cadets, but he's finally on the cusp of attaining his dream and gaining entrance to the Pilot Academy. Catching the eye of the Flight Boss and winning him as a mentor should guarantee Zax a top spot, unless the shocking discovery he makes along the way destroys not only his career, but also the Ship itself.

It would be five stars.

Just, it's a little young for me. I started SciFi 65 years ago. Still, this is GOOD stuff for early readers. It's really been many, many years since I read anything remotely close to this theme of post apocalyptic earth. Take the book title to heart!

This series was a very fun read. It's got that young adult feeling as it follows closely a young cadet and the people he interacts with. I found the premise very interesting as it is a generational ship that has been seeding the galaxy with human colonies for 5000 years.

The pace was steady with plenty of action to keep it engaging and enough sci fi to keep it fun. Definitely worth the time to read. Now I need to get the final two books in the series.

Nice Sci in the Fiction Story

This story is about a ship/astroid was sent out at earth end with humans to seed the universe. The mission was only to be for a few hundred years but has lasted for 5000 years. The MC is a teenage boy who is top of his class cadet who learns his leaders are keeping secrets and will kill to keep them.

The series (including the final two parts) was full of interesting ideas. I found it hard to put down and hard to wait for the final part to be published. I did think the whole concept of producing such a ship was stretching credibility too far but otherwise a good read.
