Life of Pi won the Man Booker Prize and has been adapted into a highly acclaimed film of the same name, whose director, Ang Lee, won the accolade for the Best Director at the Academy Awards. The book also received nominations for the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best Book and the Governor General's Award (among several others). ‘Author’s Note’ in Life of Pi shares how the author encountered Pi’s story. The three parts of the book, containing 100 chapters in totality, are in Pi’s point of view, with some pieces of insight shared by the author. The narrative of the book switches between that of Pi and the author, which adds a sense of credibility to the narrative. Life of Pi makes a statement about the human mind’s capacity to handle even the most bizarre circumstances and documents Pi Patel’s dilemma in the Pacific Ocean, among a number of animals including a Bengali tiger named Richard Parker.

Yann Martel (born on the 25th of June, 1963 in Salamanca, Spain) is a novelist and short story writer, most famous for his award winning bestseller Life of Pi (2001). Yann Martel's parents were French Canadian. Martel spent his early years in several countries. After finishing his high school education in Port Hope, Ontario, Martel studied philosophy at Trent University in 1981. After graduation, Martel had a diverse array of odd jobs and dedicated several years to traveling before becoming a writer at age 27. Yann Martel has received praise and accolades for his other works as well.

'Author's Note' informs the readers about how the author was hungry to write something substantial and successful and on his second trip to India, encountered one Francis Adirubasamy, who told him that he had a story that would make the author believe in God. Francis recommended that the author meet the main character of the tale in question, Mr. Pi Patel. The author makes a decision to tell Pi's story in the first person after meeting Pi. Pi shares details regarding his academics in Toronto and his interests. Pi has studied religion and zoology at the University of Toronto. Pi considers the sloth with three toes to be deserving of spiritual and scientific investigation. Pi has suffered and death's memento accompanies him. Richard Parker, the tiger who is a main element of Pi’s story, has stayed with him throughout. Pi shared his story with other patients while recovering in a hospital in Mexico. Pi, who is 40 now, is careful but still volatile.

I hated Life of Pi
The boy claims to be Christian but is Hindu and some other religion. He gets stuck in life boat with a tiger.
