With the memories of her past still haunting her, Finley Blake knew returning to L.A. was a terrible idea. In and out to watch her best friend get married, that was the plan. Drinking a bottle of Scotch with a stranger was not. Denying the attraction would be pointless, but she's not sure any man is worth playing the Hollywood game again.
All Liam Crawford wants for his day off is peace and quiet. Instead, he meets a bold, sensual woman at his friend’s wedding, and she turns his world upside down. She’s everything he didn’t know he was looking for, but his career is a trigger she’s not willing to face.
Winning Finley over is all Liam can think about. When they begin receiving creepy, threatening messages, he has to decide if he's willing to walk through fire for her or if the heat is too much for him to handle.
The Finding Love series: Restless (Savannah and Gabriel) Powerless (Finley and Liam) Speechless (Meghan and Oliver) Breathless (Brooklyn and Declan) Priceless (Andi and Braeden) Harmless (Sylvia and Logan) - A Finding Love Holiday Novella
The books in the Finding Love series can be read as standalones, however, for optimum enjoyment, they are best read in order.
This is such an interesting romance. The heroine is such a strong person and I found her character so fascinating. And the hero … wow, what a guy! He rocks. Their connection is really wonderful. The focus on living a life in the public eye was really interesting and I like how the ending came together. There was nothing predictable or boring about this one for me. I really enjoyed it all. NOTE: The publisher provided me with an ARC of this novel for an honest review.
I just couldn't get into this book. Finley's character annoyed the crap out of me; she was constantly negative and not willing to give anything a chance. I also struggled feeling a connection beyond sex between Liam and Finley.
First book I've read from this author and I enjoyed it. Finley was a very strong character and Liam was such a great guy. Loved the story/plot. Recommended read.
Powerless is a good fit for those seeking an emotionally charged, slow-burn romance that explores the complexities of past traumas and the challenges of opening up to love again.
Review with spoilers - I haven't read the first book)
Nice romance. I loved it.
After a painful childhood and adolescence in LA, Finley left the city when she turned 18. She didn't want to be in the same place as her mother, who caused her so much harm. She wanted to start over, and she did it in Seattle. There she has a business, friends, and a life that satisfies her. Or so she thought.
When she returns to LA, to Elijah's wedding, she confesses to her best friend that she hasn't felt comfortable for a long time. Her club no longer fills her, and she envies her friend Savannah, who has found love, and also Elijan, for the same reason. But she is incapable of approaching anyone. She wants to love and to be loved, but she doesn't want anyone to break the walls she has created around her heart.
Liam, a friend of Elijah's, didn't expect to find the love of his life at his friend's wedding. It was just one night together, but he wanted so much more, and he went to look for her in Seattle. She didn't want ... She couldn't be with him. She was afraid of getting close to someone, and Liam was already getting too close. Finding out that he's an actor doesn't bring them any closer. It makes her decide that their relationship is impossible. But he doesn't give up. He asks for an opportunity. He doesn't want sex, he wants to know her better. If she doesn't want to know anything more about him, he will go away and leave her. She can't say no to him. In spite of her fears, she wants to get close to him, she wants to be in a relationship, for the first time in her life.
I liked Finley. She tried to regain control over her life after her mother did nothing but control her and decide for her. She didn't want to be her, she didn't want to depend on anyone. But Liam broke down her barriers.
I also liked Liam. He was intrigued by her as soon as he saw her. As he says, it's not just sex. He wants to know her, to be part of her life, and that she is part of his. It's not easy, because of his work, because of people's comments, but he knows it's worth trying.
I loved Savannah. She tells Finley that falling in love can be scary, but it's also wonderful. To love, or to depend on someone, doesn't mean she's weak. She's strong, because she recognizes what she feels and doesn't hide from it.
I liked that Elijah and Abby helped them to be together.
I didn't like that Liam lied to her, although I understand why he did it.
I recommend it.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
I liked both the story and the characters. You do not have to read the first book in the series to enjoy this one, though after reading this one I am interested in reading others.
"Powerless" was a lot of story packed in a short amount of pages. It seemed like the author could have gone into more detail and developed some areas more. I wondered if the lack of detail was because the story lines had already been introduced in other books. The story still makes sense, but as a standalone, I would have liked to read a longer book with more of the details filled in.
I also appreciated that the timeline of the story happened over the course of months and wasn’t tried to fit into days. There were a couple of time gaps between chapters, and though it initially caught me off guard, it was a good approach to allow the relationship to develop over a longer time frame.
For me this is the first in the story and I'm very surprised how much I enjoyed it. Powerless is the story of Liam and Finely. Both are part of LA, hollywood scene even if Finely detests it. Growing up in the movie industry wasn't easy for her and she struggled until she was 18 when she was able to escape. She hasn't been back since except now her best friend in the whole wide world is engaged. She will return but what will it cost her?
Liam is a character who has lost a lot but has gained more. He has his sister and a career he loves, however going to his friend's wedding and meeting a woman who will change everything he thought he wanted.....well.... he handles it well. He is a great character and a great match for Fin's.
When a stalker starts harassing both, will they make it or be powerless to outside forces ??? So freaking good that now i want to read Savannah's story.
Super book. This book was important addition to the Finding Love series. The way that the author touched on and the explained Finley's earlier years and what she had against the city of L.A made the book that much more interesting. Finley must realize it is not the city that made the nightmares but those in her life that did. She meets Liam and realizes not everything is as she thought it should be; was love in her grasp or will the past ruin her present? Thank you NetGalley and Paris Hansen for allowing me to read and give a honest review of this book.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! Finley Blake Left LA + never looked back. Liam is about to become famous. When they meet, the chemistry is off the chart. Will this be a one time thing or will this become more ? I loved the storytelling. The characters were well rounded. They were cute together.
I really enjoyed this book, watching the story unfold I was hooked the entire time. Finley is a serious Badass and I love her spunk. I felt Liam was well written and an excellent yin to Finley's yang *waggles brows* I can't wait to see what else the series brings.
Powerless is a good romance with a hero who for once is a nice guy. Finley has a pretty bad past. And now she's back in the town that she left all those years ago, the town that holds so many bad memories - LA. But, she's there for her best friend's wedding, so she'll suck it up somehow and deal. When she meets Liam at the wedding, it's lust at first night and they spend a hot night together. But, can they make a long distance relationship work when he lives in a town she hates? And he's on the cusp of stardom and she hates being in the spotlight?
I liked Powerless. Finley and Liam are likable, engaging characters and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop at a reasonable pace, rather than rushing headlong and falling in love in a matter of days. Throw in a dash of suspense, and Powerless is just the kind of well rounded story I like - sexy, sweet and with just the right amount of suspense.
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
