MORE ENGAGING WRITING FROM KM FORTUNE
I received an advanced copy of this book to read with no expectation of remuneration on my part or expectation of a positive review on the author’s part. Survival, since it is the second installment in the serialization of this novel, is a well-written story that is just long enough to grasp your interest, but not long enough to satisfy it completely. The dystopian setting of the book is dark and is effectively passed to the reader, placing one in the shoes of the characters. The characters are complex, well-defined and interesting. The dialogue (or in most cases in this chapter, monologs, are well written and believable. The story, since this is Book 2, is beginning to become interesting and you want to read the next section, but it isn’t there yet. If you overlook the initial premise of the book, the story itself does not require you to completely suspend disbelief. KM Fortune is a well-balanced author telling an engaging and interesting story, with effective editing and excellent proofreading in place, which you don’t see too often in self-published books. Too often an indie author thinks that passing the manuscript through MS Word’s Spell and Grammar Checker is all the editing a book needs, which is definitely not the case here.
I am looking forward to Discovery and the rest of the story, I just wish it were all in one book.

Good story, but way too short.

Like the first book, this is just too short. It's a good thing its on K/U because even though it's a good story it would not be worth buying. But thankfully i already downloaded book 3 and was prepared! Happy Reading!!!!

Great chapter of the series...about an hour and a half read. Just perfect for when you don't have enough time to start a whole book. This is #2 of 12 in the Forever Winter serial.

This is a story of fortitude and determination as told through several POVs. I have to admire Raven's resourcefulness. Even though she remembers little of her previous life, she does recall enough to help her stay alive. I also love the new character of Kit. She sounds so cute but cunning enough to outsmart a group of savage mutants. I look forward to the next book in the series to find out how everything comes together.

This book was given to me against a fair review. The story of Raven's facing wilderness and fighting to survive has got me hooked, I enjoyed the adventure, scenery and the plot developing and was taken by the danger and threats of a potential discovery by the lethal patrolmen. I loved this novel but only gave 4 stars because it kept me hanging so unexpectedly, I was hoping for the story to really develop beyond escaping and surviving a few weeks, would have hoped for a full blown novel the new Kit becoming really part of Raven's quest ... too good to be so short.!
