Ever intrigued by the stranger from the mountains, the tiny woman Kit follows Raven Winter as she walks the “old road” through the barren landscape of the plains. The elements, lack of water, and the extreme loneliness threaten to break her until she learns she is far from alone. Now she must flee from a band of mutants who want nothing more than to tear her apart and eat her flesh.
Blaze, a rising leader of a small band of nomads, fears for his people as the Patrols from the Great Cave continue to become more aggressive in their search for something. His memories of their brutality haunt him. Forced to come out of hiding to feed the ones he loves, he hunts the plains only to run headlong into the unbelievable. A beautiful woman wandering alone.

ANOTHER RIVETING INSTALLMENT IN THE “THE FOREVER WINTER CHRONICLES” I am required to say I received a free copy of this book with no expectation by the author of obtaining a positive review. This is the third of twelve planned installments in the “The Forever Winter Chronicles,” the continuing saga of Raven Winter as she regains more memories of her pre-apocalyptic life. She fights to survive in a world that is so alien to her and the few sporadic recollections she maintains of her past. KM Fortune’s decision to make this a serialized novel is the only fault I find. The writing itself is crisp, strong, and extremely readable. The book is well-edited and well-proofed. The story is fast-paced (with an unfortunate lag between chapters), with solid dialogue, robust and complex characters and interesting, believable dialogue. The plot flows well, with the characters growing as each chapter is published. Once you overlook the premise the book is based on, it is easy to suspend disbelief and as each installment is published, you are getting more and more deeply pulled into the story. KM Fortune is a strong author, with a distinctive style that shows she has been honing her writing skillset and has put it all together in this riveting story. I am looking forward to the rest of the story, I just wish it were all in one book.
I really liked the book! Lots of suspense with patrols all over looking for Raven who was so close to being found by them. I felt so awful when the patrols attacked Willow's wedding party, but I was so glad Raven finally made contact with the nomads. Kit is so sweet and thoughtful. And Mouse was so cute! I just wanted to pinch her cheeks! A typical precocious five year old. I had to chuckle along with Raven as she quizzed her. Can't wait for book four!
Really excellent LITTLE series, almost like reading an old magazine serial.
The adventures of Raven continues. This is really so good, but, as i mentioned in reviews of books one and two, agonizingly short. I just feel teased by them, but will continue the rest. Unfortunately, I'm not where there's wifi and the books 2 & 3 were not enough tonight, so i have to wait till tomorrow for the others 😢😕. Happy Reading!!!! Tim
This novel was given to me against a fair review. Good 3rd of the Forever Winter Chronicles, the bases are now set for a gripping long lasting story. In her discovery of her unknown environment Raven has met with the nomads, Kit, Blaze, Mouse and Willow. There is just to hope for a rejoining with Matthew her Savior and get Raven to make a difference in this frozen society and wilderness. Book was too short for my taste ending up with a cliffhanger.... Really enjoyed reading it in any case.
