** This compilation consists of both new, and previously-published material. **
A young mother tries to recall the love affair with her husband and reconcile it with their new domestic drudgery. A new college grad reflects on the reasons for the end of her relationship. An ambitious professional tries to decide whether her fiancee might be a sociopath. A hard-as-nails assistant district attorney tries to balance love, family and a soul-crushing career. And a 'liberated' woman realizes that lately, her biological clock is ticking louder than ever, pushing her to take matters into her own hands. These are just a few of the stories in '30 Days, 30 Stories', a collection of more than twenty shorts in which Nia Forrester explores the inner lives of very different women, in extremely different circumstances and stages of their lives, trying to figure out who they are, and where they belong.
I swear, I'm torturing myself because Forrester is such a great writer that she only needs a few paragraphs before I"m hooked, completely relating to characters, or choosing sides. And like a good tease, she cuts me off right at the point where my imagination takes off. She creates characters who are struggling with issues that deeply resonate with me.
I'm currently on a Nia Forrester binge and I'm not even going to apologize for it.
Sometimes an avid reader like me needs to mix things up! 30 Days, 30 Stories is just what I needed. Good shorts are a rare find. Enjoyed each of the stories even the ones that were a part of longer novels. Thank you Ms. Forrester!
This was the first Nia Forrester book that I had the pleasure of reading. I enjoyed this complexity and the ease of the stories in this book. Each story offered enough to invite you in, get comfy and prepare to be entertained.
I loved this book of shorts from Ms. Forrester. Many new characters were revealed and some old ones were shared. I only gave this 4 stars because I wish the stories were longer. However, her style is always on point and great...So much locked in but given to us in glimpses..
I really enjoyed the short stories in this compilation. They were interesting and there were a diversity of topics. I'm looking forward to reading the full length stories.
The short stories were a nice collection. Eclectic and entertaining with a euphoric feeling. Each story had couples dealing with life and other stuff. I liked the shorts, but a few of the stories I would love to hear more.. The athlete and the braniac and there unlikely paring.. Did he cheat? Was he still cheating? I would love to hear more Nia..
