Sid is all alone at the end of the world, with only his robot and his garden to keep him company. He tends his plot, and tries to keep his distance from Slimeball, the lake monster the aliens left behind. But a hot spell and the need for water finally forces him to the lake’s perilous shores. His clever plan to distract Slimeball goes sideways, and turns into a discovery that forever alters the way he lives his post-apocalyptic life.

This is a great short story. A post apocalyptic tale of a boy, a robot, an alien.....and an annoying girl! Great characters and humour and a nice involved storyline that sets up with a promise of things to come. Looking forward to more of this author's work.
After reading "The Auriga Project" a while ago, and loved it, I came back to M.G. to get another story and found the short stories and downloaded 3. That is one of them. it is a great story and shows how important friendship is. Great work.
Another hit for M.G. Herron! Totally in love with his writing style. Of course this is my genre of choice, but the way he brings it to life always amazes me! Loved the TMNT name references, well done! The main bad guy (robot) is names "Slimeball", come on, what's not to LOVE!
