Rex Donovan is an asshole. He gets what he wants, and right now he doesn’t want Nora Covington as his PA. After screwing all the other women who’ve worked for him, Rex doesn’t know how to handle Nora. She’s the type of woman that men don’t screw around with, and she’s also one of the hardest working women he has ever known. But instead of showing her any appreciation, he treats her like shit. Nora hates her boss. He’s a horrible person. After a particularly bad incident in the office, she goes looking for a new job. She doesn’t want to work anywhere else, but she can’t take anymore. But then an argument fuels a moment of passion between them, and for Rex there is no backing down. He wants her, and he’s going to have her, even if no one can know. But secrets only last so long, and when Rex’s temper gets the better of him, all could be lost. Nora is pregnant with his baby, and now wants nothing to do with him. Is there any way for him to win her back? **Rex and Nora first appeared in The Enemy’s Daughter. **FREE BONUS BOOK** You Belong to Me by Sam Crescent #BBW #rubenesque #officeromance #olderman
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
So an average book at the best. This is the story of the pig boss Rex and his temporary PA Nora. Nora is "chubby" (yes that's how she's referred multiple times in the book), kind, loves to cook and the nicest of the PAs. Her kind boss Frank assigns her to dbag Rex, who ridicules her, her lifestyle and looks, and fucks everything in sight even at 48. When she decides to leave the company- we are then told he's been attracted to her all along; and to stop her he makes his move on her. The positives - Hot hot sex scenes - Breeding undertones The negatives - I don't get the concept of heroes being attracted to the heroine- yet screwing women while she's outside the door - Who in this age doesn't understand the consequences of sex without protection - He seemed really shallow and she needed a backbone I adore SC and the curvy heroines she writes- but this one totally frustrated me. Whatever star it gets is because of the positives. Unsafe 2.5/5
Nora Covington hates her boss. He is a bully, a jerk, and a complete cad when it comes to women. When her previous boss set her up as the personal assistant to Rex Donovan she knew it was because there was no way he would sleep with her. Nora is the opposite of every women she has seen Rex with, she is full figured and as a brain.
Rex doesn't know why he is a a jerk to Nora. Everyone loves her and she is the best PA in his office. When he is called to task about his behavior he begins seeing Nora for who she is and he wants her. Once he convinces Nora he is interested though will he be able to keep or or will old habits come back again?
Fun story. Rex was a true jerk and you wanted to pummel him a few times when it comes to Nora. Nora is great and she is torn when it comes to Rex because she sees two sides to him. One sit reading, Sam Crescent always is entertaining.
Form the first page I freakn hated Rex. He's such an asshole. I couldn't imagine how, I could even like him. But somehow, somewhere along the story I did. I don't know how it happened. I guess, those a-holes knows how to win your heart. Lol
Nora was one of those nice and sweet characters. And I love more sassy with some crazy in the h. So, I would loved for Nora giving some back, when Rex’s was a dick to her.
But still, Rex and Nora being such contrasting people, somehow fit together. Maybe they fulfilled each other with theirs differences.
This book is pretty good for quick with no big dramas read.
Oh, and if you are interested in Alaric, you can get his story in The Enemy's Daughter.
This is full of surprises package by my most favorite author, Sam Crescent!!
1. First book was Bullied by the Boss (5 stars)
Love her work more and more and this book was absolutely ah~~~~mazing!! Our beloved heroine was a matter of fact kind of girl. Sweet, helpful, thoughtful, and so kind which is I think that our hero didn't deserved her. At all!!
I love how their upside down kind of love. Full of happy time. And so much bad time. Blame it to the devil hero. I beginning to take this hatred towards the hero personally. LOL.
But...yup, always buts. I love love love love the ending of the hero. Yup, sometimes, author need to make the hero sweat and suffer in the sweetest way. And Sam Crescent nailed it in THIS book. Yup!!!
Swoon swoon swoon.... Don't worry fellas... I ended fall in love with both of the hero and heroine. Definitely.
2. Second book was You Belong to Me (4 stars)
This story was a very good surprise. An ex-NAVY SEAL and a skittish girl. A skittish girl who best friend with his beloved sister.
Hm.... sounds great from the beginning that yeah, I ended fall for the sweet story as well. Even with this not so heavy problems, insta-love, if I may say.
Love how our beloved hero try to smoothly seduce the heroine and how he begin to loose patient. LOL. Funny, witty, sweet, easy, and sooooooooo romantic. Yup yup yup!!!
He's got a problem with his conduct with his PA's, so she's assigned to work for him as she's not Blonde or thin. Only he's upset about it, so he takes it out on her~ That's how she got "Bullied By The Boss" & came to Hate him as well, but there's a fine line between love & hate, & he's gonna push that line to the limit... So who's gonna get burned when being "Bullied By The Boss" no longer feels Sooo Good!?! Here's another perfect escape from the doldrums of everyday life... I love Sam Crescent's writing... She brings Fantasies to life with Scorching HEAT, Curvy Gals, Hunky Characters (Ohhh Yes, Bring on those Alpha Males!) & all the feels we crave in Smexxy RoMANce; it's even all packaged up into those HEA's we love our stories to end with~ Yes, Sam's writing is the kind that makes me Yearn, Dream, Sigh, Cheer, Beg, & in the End Always, ALWAYS Plead for just a Li'l bit More of each & every single time... Like the next Series, Installment, Trilogy, or Book because I'm HUNGRY4MORE!
When I started this book I didn't like Rex. He was a first class asshole. But in the end he won me over.
Nora was a sweet and nice person who loved to do sweet stuff for other people. But she hated her boss and that's not the person she is. So is it time to look for another job? And what will she do now that he's giving her all this attention and being all possessive??
This was a quick hot sexy read about there being a thin line between love and hate!!!
And as a bonus you get to read You Belong to Me, another hot OTT alpha obsessed special forces male, waiting to get his girl!!
This was a re-read for me, I didn't review when I read it a few years ago.
This was more of a 2.5 stars for me. I liked the premise of the book but it wasn't overly consistent in the characters, mostly Rex. I didn't feel connected or fully believe his actions/feelings and I can't quite narrow it down to instances but just overall he wasn't very believable and Nora was also insanely naive which actually worried me. Meanwhile I did enjoy at least a conclusion to their situation which was mentioned in 'The Enemy's Daughter', so of course I had to find out what happened. The ending was at least satisfactory.
Bullied by the boss, was a decent story. An a’hole wins the girl after being a mean bully to her to hide his true feelings. The female lead was a smart mildly confident woman who demanded respect. Which I respected! Lol. It was a good growing together story with some heat.
You belong to me, was a bonus story I didn’t expect in this purchase. It was a best friend’s brother love story. Very quick but very likable. Sweet characters with unrealistic support for the romance while the female lead played clueless. While I don’t care for dumb chicks as leads it was okay here as the story was very short and to the point. It’s a nice sweet read.
Rex was the ultimate asshole but he had just as equal amount in alphaness and therefore I really enjoyed reading this. He is OTT feature makes him redeemable after his complete dismissal and disregard for the heroine in the beginning. He most definitely grovels just the perfect amount. I loved that Nora had a backbone. She was a brave and smart heroine who didn't succumb to her circumstances. This is one I'll probably reread lots!
The slut shaming in this book is ridiculous, does the author have a problem with women who like and have sex? All of her heroines seem to be 25 and a virgin, what's that all about?!? Men can sleep around and that makes them experienced and more appealing but a woman does it and she's a slut? It's just completely gross and sexist as hell. Author is definitely dealing with some major internalised misogyny. And the main guy in this is awful, no redeemable qualities no matter how hard the author tries to create them. I do like some of her books, but this one is just awful
2,5/5 This story is less sugary than most romances. I'm not comfortable with huge age diffenences (her 25 to his 48), they seem to me something like incest. The heroine was kind of immature as she seemed to be oblivious to precautions while sexually active. The excuse of being too horny to even think about them is totally invalid. I also can't get how she could miss the hero's carelessness for them. What kind of adult is she? And finally, in the last scene, she's pregnant again when the hero is 58 years old and he's happy about it. No, I wasn't moved by it.
I had a difficult time finishing this story. But I had to finish it. There were many things wrong with both of these protagonists. The male lead was a man-whore of the highest order. And an asshole. And the female lead was your basic doormat. I wanted to slap her in the face and tell her to grow up. She was the archetype of this author's female leads. Submissive. Younger. Virgin. With no backbone at all. There is more but I have to continue my reading list.
This book does not have much logic or planning to the subtleties of the plot. People behave in random ways, with out-of-a-hat reactions and no psychological logic. Also, the social aspect of the workplace the writter was trying to set up was all over the place, a mess.
Merged review:
Simplistic writing, straightforward plot, cliché H and h, not much to write home about...
Very boring and predictable. The main character’s personality was not consistent. One minute the heroine is sassy, the next she is shy and timid, and then she gets back to being sassy with no character development.
It builds to a grand gesture but there was no grand gesture at the end.
And the synopsis reveals three quarters of the book and the major plot points.
Sam Crescent knows how to make an unbearable hero... Rex was annoying, abusive, boring, whore, arrogant and old. I say old, when age weighs on intolerance. I think it's fine... Nora was the opposite: kind, helpful, empathetic, curvy (Sam always represents them), pretty and young. For more than half of the book, there is Rex bullying Nora. He blames her for a misunderstanding at work, when in fact she was just trying to right the various mistakes of Rex's former assistants. Which, by the way, she hired them for their looks and not their efficiency. In other words, they became Rex's office cases. And he became famous for it. It was permissible, as the harassment outweighed the profit of the firm's lawyers. And Nora there, always helpful to everyone, including Rex's unprofessional assistants. And when Nora, after an incident, changes Rex's appointments, he hounds her, saying she was ineffective because he nearly lost a client over it. But Nora, being Nora, resolved with all the wronged, nothing was lost, but there was still the pursuit of idiot Rex. When, after catching him with a woman in the office, doing who knows what, she gives up and starts looking for a new job. He is scolded by the head of the office, Nora's former boss, he tries to reconcile with Nora. But, always thinking that the mistake is hers. And he is not content to think of her as a person who attracts him. He thinks she's fat, ordinary, and really nice. Man this makes me hate!!! When, finally, Nora fights with him, he kisses her in the office. And boomm... Perfect kissing effect: he admits to himself that he's always wanted her. Had it not been a Sam Crescent novel, I would have huffed and closed the book. From then on it's just "I can't be without her", "she's too hot", "I'm going to get her pregnant"... Until he does another stupid thing and they break up. After much chasing and groveling for her, they get back together and live happily ever after. Ah, nothing like a book like that, to forget a book that makes you upset...
I loved the story of Rex and Nora. The story is full of emotions and pain but in the end, both could lead to a happiness either expected if they could only let it all go. I found the characters interesting and the law firm to be a dream. The ending was never a sure thing and I was shocked by the emotional roller coaster throughout every page. I highly recommend Bullied by the Boss and the writing of Sam Crescent. Delane Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More Official Review @ Coffee Time Romance & More
I'm not sure why I keep reading Sam Crescent's books because I know it wouldn't be as good as I thought. It's just that I keep wanting to give this author a try but it's always ended up disappointing.
Again, this book is so so. Not that good but also not that bad. There's not enough strength in terms of plot and characters. Copuld be so much better.
I liked this short read. There were some grammatical errors, but nothing to take away from the book. I really like This author. There may be some books that are definitely not as good as others, but I have found that I like more than not. She has distinct writing and character style, that I can always tell her books.
Book 1 Rex and Nora make for a great story for a man who want home , family and his love without know even knowing it. He fights against Nora who he can't stop loving even though he tried very hard to overcome it.
Bonus book 2: a simple, sexy story of a man who comes home to claim the love of his sister's friend. Good read!
2.5 stars I have mixed feelings about this book. I didn't really like the main characters, especially Rex, a jerk, pig, asshole with anger issues. And Nora l, too freaking innocent and naive, and a bit stupid. I'm glad Rex redeemed himself in the very end, but the way he behaved before that, it was awful.
A Wonderful quick read with well fleshed out characters and a great plot a discovery of sorts of finding Love and self and fighting for the whole dream because it is so worth it
I really enjoyed this story Rex is a total tool in the beginning A jerk to Nora Nora is very sweet and a great worker So glad it worked out for them and Rex had to swallow some pride and realize what a gem she was
