Alex heard the reports on the nightly news his father always had playing in the background. Threats of nuclear Armageddon were becoming ominously commonplace. Still, he never thought he'd live to see the day that the rhetoric became reality. He thought wrong. He and his father raced for the military Cryo-Facility as reports poured in from England and the US of nuclear missile launches from both sides. He kept checking the rear-view mirror, hoping to glimpse his mother's car.Alex's father tried to reassure him that his mother would make it to safety. There was still time. Alex closed his eyes in his cryopod and said a silent prayer for his mother. He awoke to blaring klaxons and flashing lights. The people in the pods beside him were dead. He was completely alone. Fifty-two years had passed. Now Alex ventures into a world he does not know. He will try to find his father, who might yet live, and his mother, who surely couldn't have survived, in the After.

50 years of being frozen in time(cryogenicially frozen) Alex is awake and in a whole new world after the five minute war. He's on a mission to find his father and what has become of his mother. He will make friends along the way and a couple enemies. I enjoyed this book alot. Not my normal genre but when your husband writes a book you read it. The sequel was great as well.
Frozen in a secret military cryo-facility when the five minute war began. Alex is trying to find out what happened to his parents. The world he finds himself in has no transportation, no internet, no comunication. This was great book for your first. I enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. I hope you will continue this story about Alex. Please continue to develop your writing skills. I look forward to reading many more of your book's.
Wow, for a first novel I am very impressed. The story held my attention throughout, with varied and interesting characters. The After world was well crafted and believable and felt like I was reading a story set in the Fallout universe. There was plenty of excitement and emotion. I would love to read more about the trials of Alex in further novels.
This isn’t my usual genre but I picked it up in recommendation from a friend in my writer’s group. Prescott’s story is engaging- I particularly enjoyed the evolving character interactions/ developing friendships. I recommend this to those who enjoy speculative fiction, post-apocalyptic stories, and adventure.
I was initially a little worried this would be too young-adult for me, but was very pleasantly surprised as to how this story unfolded. There were some editing issues, but didn't distract much from the very solid plot, mystery and character development. The ending was bittersweet and very well done.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It flowed smoothly and kept my interest. I enjoyed all of the characters and the parts they played. Thanks much for writing it for us !
