What a joy and a privilege it was to read about my family’s history! It has taken me a while to get through the book given its slower pace, but I was excited to finish it especially since I will be visiting the area once again next week! Getting to read about the origins of different family heirlooms I have handled, origins of places such as Southwell Lake and Hartwick Pines that I’ve gotten to visit, and even people that I love was such a treasure. It has caused me to want to better love and treasure the family I’ve had the pleasure of inheriting.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading a historical account of a local family I know and the area I call home.

I really liked this book. It helped that my family grew up next door to the Southwell family so I found it really interesting to learn what times were like in that area well before I was alive. Fascinating.
