Ashley Hunt gained her Philosophy degree in Denver, Colorado at The University of Colorado.
She made Denver her permanent home when she married her college sweetheart. Married six years the couple has a five-year-old daughter and a yellow Labrador named Oodles.
Living in the shadow of Gray's Peak proves to be inspirational to Ashley as she sits at her desk in her home office where she writes her Romance stories and can merely look out the window to renew her creativity.
She strives to make stories with beautiful scenery and intriguing plots. Heroes with great strengths, physical and mental, she pairs with strong heroines who test their limits. In the end, finding deep, passionate love. The way she thinks every relationship should be.
Had high hopes for this. Pok based on the blurb but was left feeing disappointed. The H was not likable ( and yes I get he was king of his village ) and neither was the h ( she suffered trauma and domestic violence by her previous partner ) but she didn't win me over.
This started out well enough for me. It wasn't all that exciting in the beginning, but I thought the world of Albaterra created here was beautifully imaginative. I would love to see a world like that for real. But the enjoyment faded rather quickly. When things started to finally pick up, that's when they also became predictable and remarkably boring somehow. I also really hated Tabitha in middle. I mean, really. Once past that to the end, it was a huge mix of things I liked and things I really didn't. And don't get me started on how things were constantly repeated. You don't need to tell me something that happened two chapters ago. I know, I already read it. Then there's this personal pet peeve of mine where the h is told to do something by the H and completely disregards the command because she's a stupid bitch worried about him. Let's all never mind the fact that he says it to potentially save your life. You go do what you're pride desires because he clearly can't take care of himself. Oh my gawd how I hate it when the woman doesn't listen. One other thing that has stuck with me is a very slight glitch in the story. And I mean slight, but it bugged me. See, Rex went and barricaded the two of them into the bedroom at one point. Going so far as to move huge pieces of furniture to block the door. But then later when somebody shows up at the house, they both just walk right on out that door. Did we forget the door was blocked? Or did the two of them somehow get the power to walk thru things?
Anyway. Tabitha is fleeing her life on Earth by joining a space mission. What's the mission? Well, I don't know because Tabitha doesn't know. She's just the ship's chef. One day their ship crashes on this alien world and she finds herself the sort of captive of the king of the kingdom she crashed in. I say sort of because while the rest of the crew that survived is rounded up and locked into prison cells, she spends the next two months or so living with his family...just not allowed to leave the property. Who knew she would come to love her jailer in such a short time?
Rex is one of the leaders of his people on Albaterra. His people have been watching and studying humans for a long time now and know of the danger they pose. So when human ships are spotted within their galaxy, these leaders take a vote and decided to shoot them down before they do any harm. The first one crashes in Rex's territory and he takes Tabitha as a prisoner but can't bring himself to lock her up with the others for some reason. And as the days pass, his pride and respect for her only grow as he sees her interact with his family.
But it's a huge crime for Rex to have kept her a secret. Now Tabitha must plead her own case and Rex must also plead his against charges of treason. While some of the ruling body are peaceful, there are those who are the extreme opposite and would love nothing more than to wipe out humans a whole. So the two of them go off to do whatever they can to prevent the rest of the human ships from being destroyed. With Tabitha going out to space to convince the other captains (which had me rolling my eyes so hard and so often with it's ridiculousness) and Rex going around and trying to convince the other leaders to change their vote. In the end, Tabitha literally leads one of the human ships to Rex's front door and new choices must be made. After a pretty epic bloodbath, a truce of sorts is called. But things are doubtless far from over. Rex and Tabitha might be happy together, but it's only a matter of time before more trouble is brought to Albaterra from the humans. After all, they're completely correct in saying we're a destructive, war happy race.
Gawd, I hope the next book and those after are better than this. I already have the whole damn series...
Exciting! What happens when one race is so terrified of another they must destroy them sight unseen? This is what happens when a human spaceship gets too close to the planet Albaterra and it's inhabitants shoot it down. The world building are amazing and vivid. I voluntarily reviewed this book as an ARC.
Rex: A Scifi Alien Romance: Albaterra Mates Book 1 by Ashley L. Hunt ⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you are looking for a fast-paced, Scifi Alien, romantic, suspense, full of passion and heart, look no further than Rex: A Scifi Alien Romance: Albaterra Mates Book1. Ashley L. Hunt has created a fantastic beginning to what promises to be an amazing Scifi Alien Romance. It's AWESOME! Of course I don't think Ashley L. Hunt could write a book that's not awesome if she tried. I enjoy this talented lady's work. I devour her books quickly and then anxiously anticipate the release of her next book. This is a fast pace read but really doesn’t seem that way. The author puts a lot of action, suspense, dystopia, sci-fi, romance, and friendship giving you a delightful read that really keeps you turning the pages. I got a kick out of watching the sparks fly between these two. Not only is it easy to fall in love with Rex and Tabitha, but their supporting characters as well! The story and conversations kept me interested from beginning to end. Rex is a Tribal Elder of Campestria, he is free-thinking, blue skin, fierce warrior and dedication to his race, but because he is young the others on the Elder Council question if he is a good and loyal leader. Tabitha is a feisty, strong, young, talented chef who was on aboard the Paragon when it crash on Albaterra. Rex met Tabitha at the scene of the wreck and their instant attraction begins battles, secrets, emotions and change. The characters is certainly praise-worthy. I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed reading this intriguing and interesting story. What a exhilarating INCREDIBLE-fantastic start to a new series. I highly recommend this book and I'm so excited I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed this book. Because I like sharing my thoughts with my fellow readers.
That was a great journey with great characters and relationship! What will happened when human ships get to discover galaxy outside Andromeda and there was living an alien race? Are they similar to us - in some ways for sure, but still different with hierarchy. I loved getting to know their ways! That was like building something new in my head :) Characters were full and everything was going smooth :) Nothing was strange, as their relation was developing slowly, first from body attraction, than emtional. I can promise you great read with love, relationships, developed world and fight for love againts everything! I really liked Rex mother - Beni!
Okay, I will start with the fact that I received it as an ARC. Secondly, I never finished it and don't plan on that happening.
The book starts out with three isolated events. All three are told with no context. This was such a turn off that I stopped reading it altogether. None of the three segments contained any type of hook to capture the reader. I would say don't bother with it.
Not just a paranormal romance with Aliens, but a story filled with intrigue, and thrilling suspense. Albaterra has one leader over everyone, but the planet is also divided into eleven separate kingdoms each with its own Governors. The A'li-uud's have know of Earth and have kept a close eye on them and their development for centuries, but know the people of Earth know of them too. Rexstrenu'us "Rex" Et'Herba, head of his kingdom, Campestria, and his people value nature and peace, something they have seen that humans do not. The distrust and dislike of Earth's inhabitants in common among Rex's people, both elders and general populous of the planet. The decision to repel any Earth ships that come to near the planet results in one coming down on Rex's lands. When he investigates the crash site he finds Tabitha, an exotic beauty that takes his breath away. Still he takes her captive, more to keep her safe I think than to harm, but he is not willing to risk his people because of his attraction to her.
What follows is a coming to understand the different races, their customs, differences and similarities. Both Rex and Tabitha have learned to be warriors, Each has a past that comes to threated their growing romance, but each is willing to die to keep the other from danger and safe. Whether from Earth or Albaterra the path to true love is oft fraught with pitfalls. the question is how much are you willing to give to make it work?
These are strong characters in intelligence and determination to survive. Can they overcome the prejudices of others and dangers that threaten them is truly up to them. We are just lucky enough to be able to watch as the road to possible happiness unfolds and learn from them so that when we crash on someone's planet we will know what awaits us. Well plotted, this story will captivate you and hold you glued to the emotions and actions of the story until the very end. As luck would have it there are books in this series, so you won't have to leave Albaterra just yet if you don't want to. Look for book two, "Duke". Enjoy I know I did!
My rating of "Rex - Albaterra Mates Book 1" is 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Let's forget the plot and MCs.The writing is very poor.It is a sore for the eyes if you have read any book at all prior to it and if it is your first book ever,it may turn you away from ever reading again. It was so bad, that I started to skip over paragraphs just to get to the point. I actually picked it up as it was recommended as a good alien romance book, but now I truly doubt the bloggers ability to recommend anything at all.Or maybe I should feel sorrow for the girl.If this qualifies as good in her mind, how terrible have been her reading experience. So...yeah,as i said,it is bad.
Now to the plot.Girl travels the space, ship gets by alien defences and crashes on their planet. She falls in love with the king (Stockholm sindrome) and both fights for the humans lives."Fight " may be slightly exaggerated. He pops around trying convince other kings not to kill humans and she goes to the rest of human ships to turn them away from this galaxy.A small shuffle on both sides and they live happily ever after. Here,I saved your eyes from this pain of reading.
MCs...Tabitha is the whiny glassed eye idiot you have to suffer(nope, authors try to give her terrible past did not help her character at all,it was actually worth eyeroll) and Rex is just plain. There are no depths to both characters. There is however insta-love.It is boring and it does not feel believable .Well, none of the events have a drop of believability to them.Even the main antagonist does not feel like anything. As I said-plain.Very,very plain.
The world building. What? Was it there? Did I missed it? Was it somewhere cleverly hidden? I don't know,I didn't see it.Because in my mind description of decors of places does not count as worlbuilding.
Actually the most emotion I felt for this book is now-while writing a review and realizing I have wasted my time reading this.I am angry, that in a week I will not even remember I have read it ,so there is a big chance I may pick it up again. And suffer again.
However it is not so bad that you will remember as a warning to never-ever re-read it.And that is my biggest issue,I guess.
Do I recommend it? Oh,God,no! Unless you have too mutch time and no other book in a world to read. You know-like when you sit on a toilet and pick up to glance over air fresheners script. This book is as exciting as the warning on the bottle to not swallow it contents and recount of ingredients. But,what do I know-there may be some people out there who enjoys it immensely and in that case-this book is for you.Enjoy!

love Ashley L. Hunt's stories so as soon as I saw her name on the cover, I bought it knowing that I was in for a wild adventure. Tabetha is a human who has had a tragic past and is leaving Earth to find a new life aboard the NASA ship called Paragon. She is helping to serve a meal when the ship is attacked and they hurtle down to the surface of the nearest planet called Albaterra. The crew does not know what to expect but on the planet the people called the A’li-uud are concerned as they know of the human's war like history. The youngest leader of the A’li-uud is called Rexstrenu’us but known as Rex with blue skin and white eyes. When he rescues Tabetha he is instantly attracted to her and the feeling is mutual but he is very troubled as humans are not trusted and there could be war with them on the planet. Tabetha wants to seek out the rest of the crew but how can she without help? Why did the Paragon lose it's integrity and crash land? This is an interesting storyline with adventure, fear, hope of a better life, passion, lust, love, distrust and even some humour here and there. If you've read any of Ashley's books before you will know that you're in for a rip roaring adventure that you won't want to put down until you've reached the ending. Then you will want another to lose yourself in. A wonderful book that is a real page turner and well worth the time reading. Looking forward to Ashley's next book .I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Rex is the blue skinned warrior and Tribal Elder of one of the kingdoms on Albaterra. He is a fairly recent leader and his more modern ideas make them others wonder if he is really capable of his position. Tabitha is a feisty chef on the Paragon spaceship escaping Earth to start a new life exploring space. The Elders of Albaterra cause the spaceship to crash in a move to get rid of it and Rex finds Tabitha in the wreckage. They then have to work their way through secrets, prejudices, denial, duty and love. Can they work out how to prevent war, death and find a way for two people from separate species to also have love at the end too?
Lots of drama in this story of how two races can get over their prejudices to find a compromise, whilst two people (one from each race) can have a lasting love. There was a lot of passion in this story and it was nice to see the way the love crept up on Rex. Some of the trials became a little tedious but I also understand why they were needed. A lovely story of love against the odds between 2 people from different races.
I am new to SciFi but with a series like this, I am a fan now. The inhabitants of Albaterra are mostly a peace-loving species, however fear of the humans drives them to shoot down a human spaceship. The Elder of the kingdom, Rex, is the first on-scene and finds Tabitha by the wreckage. Being a paranormal/shifter fan, I was not surprised when Rex and Tabitha had an immediate attraction. The trials and tribulations they had to face together was exciting and terrifying. Prejudice, betrayal, lust, intrigue and curiosity all lead to the adventure that Rex and Tabitha share. Then there is Rex's ex, a female A'li-uud warrior, who doesn't take kindly to Rex's involvement with a human and tries to kill her. Add the human survivors being held prisoners "for their own safety" and trouble ensues. This was a great story and I look forward to the next.
This was a different alien story. The author made the aliens seem real rather than just weird as many of the books are. Rex is a blue alien with white eyes and although young is considered an elder which translates to king of his tribe. Humans are entering their airspace and the elders meet to decide what to do. They decide to shoot down any spaceships that get too close to Albaterra, their home. One of the spaceships comes too close and they are shot. When the wreck falls on Albaterra it lands in Rex's territory so he goes to investigate with a few of his warriors, he finds a human woman, Tabitha, who he takes back to his parent's house while his warriors look for other survivors. Thus starts a rather different relationship between the two that is full of surprises. Not exactly what you would expect. It was a very interesting story.
I have been reading 300 plus books every year through four tablets and this is my first Alien book. I didn't think that I would like it very much, boy was I pleasantly surprised. "ALBATERRA Mates" was exhilarating. The world of ALBATERRA was so well described I was able to invasion each section of the world. The characters were well developed and their personalities contained layers. It was intriguing to learn about the various Counsel Tribe Elders and their very distinct differences. I was drawn to Rex and Tabatha, the struggles they encountered and the love that developed between them even though war was very close. I have to say my favorite characters were Benin Rexs' Mother and his father. I also also very drawn to Ca-es'a. This is such a good book. I hope that you enjoy it as well.
I was disappointed that the hero's people, who were constantly described by the author as being honorable and peaceable, turned into bloodthirsty savages willing to destroy all the earth ships just because they MAY discover their planet. I won't be reading any of the other books in this series, as these 'so called' honorable people next decide to attack earth to exterminate humans (and, of course, take over earth for their own use afterward). Based on the descriptions of the next two books, they carry out their plans, in the process killing innocent men, women and children.
A new world filled with adventure, This book will have you questioning how change is viewed by people every where. I loved the mind games, the dichotomy of the violence and the deep emotional connections. The story starts off simple but builds to this world changing force that will keep you holding on as you witness what a difference an open mind can do. I loved the characters, they felt real. I loved the true prejudice that is detailed and showcased on both sides of this story. It was fun to read because it made me think about bigger things, like what would I do if I were in the same situation.
I'm not sure how I got my hands on this book, but boy am I glad that I did! This is a great story with lots of action, suspense, a bit of political intrigue and of course romance. I like that the romance is sweet and not over the top. The characters also don't madly fall in love after only knowing each other for 2 hours. This is a stand-alone story with no cliffhanger and a happily ever after (although it sure was close!). I am absolutely looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I can't wait to find out who gets to fall in love next!
Reed: A Paranormal Sci-Fi Alien Romance: Albaterra Mates Book 1
This was a surprise. Liked the book. The Rex character needed to be a little more friendlier. He also needed to be stronger. He seemed like a man who was use to the way things should go. And not how they should be. Tabitha the female character, needed to less if a smart mouth. She needed to be stronger and more loving toward people. In all, the whole book needed more steamy love scenes, less fighting and arguing among people. If you Luke weak live stories, this is the one to read.
Out of this world! Rex and Tabitha were meant for one another. The way the author manages to express the emotions Tabitha feels regarding Rex and his growing feelings for her is sweet. You can feel the palpable hatred coming from other characters in the the book as well. The author is a very talented writer that keeps you actively engaged in this initial story of the well written action packed Albaterra Mates saga. It was so good, I read it all in one sitting!
this one was pretty intense. the characters were and world were very well developed. there was a lot of anger and conflict in this... the romantic interactions took a side seat to everything else so if that's what you're looking for in a book then this one might not be for u. what the characters were willing to do for their people was very honorable and they were rewarded with each other in the end. If u like strategic stories with a little romance then I definitely recommend this one.
Wonderfully Sweet Alien Romance By Ashley Hunt. Plenty of build-up of the characters and their struggles to get their HEA. Looking forward to the next addition to this wonderfully written series. Definitely RECOMMENDING THAT YOU CHECK OUT FOR YOURSELF AND ENJOY THIS SERIES BY ASHLEY L. HUNT!!🔟🔟🔟🔟👏👏👏💖💟💝💞💑😘😍
I have to give this 3 1/2 *. It is the building of a sci-fi romance series so there could have been a lot of world building and development. I found it flat on emotional interaction w/ the couple. I am curious enough to give the 2nd one a try but I debated about not finishing this one and was glad I did.
This is a story about an alien planet trying to protect themselves from Earthlings that have entered their galaxy. They never expected the space ship to crash onto the planet with survivors. Then insta-love and doing everything they can to be together. Heavy on describing different regions of the planet. Ok read.
She crash lands on his planet, he finds her first and after 5 sentences takes her to his parents where he insists they sleep in the same bed. He defends her, its all touchy freely n insta love after 5 minutes in the book!!
It hade exciting parts where you couldn't put it down, then there are parts where I skipped some pages. Tabitha was rescued by Rex after he shot down their spaceship. The beautiful part is trying to get two different species to come together without harming the other. Very interesting read.
Nice human-alien love story but the first part of this book is a reprint of the prequel. Also it was a bit predictable. Nevertheless, the main characters were lovable, and the book was well written with NO typos.
I chose my 5-star rating because the storyline is amazing. I loved how the story hooked me in. I was completely engrossed. I was able to feel the emotions of the characters like I was a part of it. I would recommend this book to everyone
This is a good sci-fi book with an exciting story line with lots of twists. It would have received a five star from me except for the bedroom scene. Thank goodness there were not too many of them in this book. I would recommend this book
I couldn't finish this book. I think it just dragged too much and it had a lot of unnecessary information that made it boring. The plot wasn't really that exciting so the book wasn't able to home my attention.
What more could you want in a book other than great characters and a fantastic story. Intense moments, dangerous situations, an aspect most don't see coming.
