Life in the Winchester household is hardly settled. That’s true for Bay Winchester more than anybody else.

Her boyfriend Landon Michaels is away from town on an undercover assignment for the FBI and Bay is struggling not to let worry and unease rule over her life. Halloween is approaching, after all, and Hemlock Cove is bustling with activity. Bay has her hands full even when her heart feels empty.

A chance encounter with Landon while he’s undercover leaves Bay exposed… and furious. By the time Landon returns to make things right, things spiral further out of control when Bay is attacked in her own home and wakes to find a dead body on the lawn.

The dead woman has ties to Landon’s case and when the investigation is given to the Michigan State Police instead of Landon and Chief Terry, Bay knows she’s in trouble. Between her issues with Landon and his refusal to step away from the case, things are about to come to a head.
Landon is determined to protect Bay at all costs, even if it means going to war with the people he once considered colleagues. For her part, Bay has to dig deep for courage – deeper than she ever dreamed, in fact. Faith is key, because Landon needs it and so does she.

The final fight is one no one saw coming, and it brings Landon and the Winchesters full circle as they once again find themselves walking into a corn maze looking for trouble… and desperate to protect one of their own.

When the end comes, someone Bay loves with her whole heart is in danger, and survival isn’t a given. It’s going to take everyone to save the day. Aunt Tillie has a plan, though, so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.

Quasi-spoilers ahead. I want to preface my comment with the fact that I've enjoyed this series. This book was very hard to get through. Bay whining and the first 12 or so chapters was nauseating. Landon was undercover! The concept is not a hard one to comprehend for an adult! Then when he did return, he's nothing but a groveling mess. What made it worse was the rest of the family taking up Bay's side! Even Chief Terry????? He's the chief of police--HE is the one who should totally understand why Landon didn't call. This just was not enjoyable at all. I will continue with the series; one bad book (JMO) won't ruin the series, I hope!

I've always found this series to be a lot of fun. Aunt Tillie is a hoot, and I enjoy the adventures of the three cousins and their SOs. This book almost had me finally skipping one in the series, but I'm glad I persevered. The first chapters with Bay just whining and carrying on made me a little crazy. Geez, girl, the guy was just doing his job. I hope this doesn't get revisited in future books because, really, this was enough. And the groveling...no, not deserved, and a pain to witness. Once past the majority of that mess the story picked up with a very good mystery. Final rating 3.5

It's everybody's fault!

Half of this book revolves around Bay whining because Landon is doing his job undercover and doesn't call her. About a quarter of the book is spent on Landon groveling because he did his job. There is some salvation with Aunt Tillie's dialogue, but not enough. The characters have become boring and one dimensional. The story lines are completely predictable. I hate that this has happened because I used to truly enjoy the books and all of the characters. I still love Aunt Tillie but even she can't save this story.

While the storyline was decent the main character kept doing super stupid things and this drove me a little crazy. She wasn’t that bad in previous books. For example, she had been attacked and almost died and the first night back in her home she woke in the middle of the night. She thought she saw someone through her window in the dark and instead of waking up her FBI boyfriend, decided to investigate on her own (well, with her 2 female cousins) but none of the men that were in the house… STUPID decision and asking to be attacked again is what I say. Her rationale left a lot to be desired. This was not the only time she walked into trouble. Geesh! It’s ok to not do everything on your own!

Enough already!

I adore this series and all the characters but this was so hard to read, the amount of apologizing and martyrdom was ridiculous! Come on now, let's be a bit more realistic! No one needs to apologize that much, made reading this unbearable!

Original rating - 5 stars

Rating upon reread - 4 stars

Landon goes on an undercover assignment which later on comes to bite him in the ass. What I liked in this book -

1. I have always been a sucker for spies and secret services. I loved the plot about Landon going undercover. I also think it was about time they sent him back on an undercover assignment.

2. It was a nice change to see the soft side of Thistle when it comes to her cousin. Thistle sending hate messages to Landon was something any sister/friend would do in her position and I really liked seeing that side of her.

3. It's always fun to see the Winchester mouth off to Agent gasbag.

4. Can we all please take a moment to applaud Aunt Tillie's creativity when it comes to curses and vengeance. The way she handled Brian Kelly was simply amazing. I think it'd have been better if she had cursed Agent Glenn and Trooper Davis too!

What I didn't like -

1. I didn't like how everyone blamed Landon for simply doing his job. I don't know what everyone expected but he couldn't really hug Bay while being undercover without blowing his cover. The only thing he can be blamed for, according to me, is not giving Chief Terry a message for Bay. But I think even that can be excused given the situation he was in. Also, I didn't like how Aunt Tillie put his operation at risk. She should've known better than that.

2. As much as I liked Aunt Tillie and her shovel shenanigans, I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to know what her original plan with it was. It would've been better if some vague hint was given to let us run our imaginations wild.

3. Bay needs to work on her communication skills. Since this is my reread, I know the real reason she was so whiny but that doesn't excuse her for not talking to Landon about moving in together. She just needs communication lessons.

Overall, it was really fun! I am impressed with how carefully the bigger plot has been thought out by the author. Can't wait for the next one!

This one sat on my currently reading shelf forever until I had enough mental stamina to get back to reading last night. Frankly, I really liked the first few books in the series, but now I'm completely bored and annoyed with all the characters, especially Bay. Maybe I just read too many of them in a row? Well, no, because I didn't dive into each book one after the other…

I haven't decided if I'm going to finish the series. I love Snark, but this is getting a bit old. Yawn.

4 Stars... Things get a little rocky for Bay Winchester when Landon is called back undercover and a misunderstanding ensues... Once murder becomes part of the story and the assailant has his eyes set on Bay, the Winchester clan must come together to protect one of their own... Our romantic storyline seems to move ahead for Bay and Landon in this addition as plans for the future begin to unfold... My only struggle with this read was Bay's continual insecurities; they can make her lovable at times, but I found myself slightly annoyed with her in this one... I want her to have a confrontation with her father and move on from the abandonment piece... She is a strong character in many ways, but when she becomes needy towards Landon it can make me crazy... All in all though, another fun and crazy ride with the Winchester witches!:)

In the tenth book in the series, Landon is on an undercover operation and when Bay ends up meeting him while undercover things get a little bit complicated. When Landon finally comes back to town to make things right with Bay he never would have expected the things that happened next.

And when Bay gets hurt and a dead body is found near her, Bay is getting the blame. Especially when two new agents come to town to place the blame on her, even though Landon and the Chief are doing everything they can to find the real culprit.

This book was a little bit too much like one of the previous books with Aunt Tillie being the murder suspect. That was kind of annoying. It was also annoying the fight Landon and Bay had. It was frustrated because of the choices Landon made and the fact that he didn't just tell her stuff from the beginning.

Other than that it was interesting, and it was fun to read about Aunt Tillie and the rest of Bay's family sticking up for her. I look forward to more now.

Witchy Fun

All of our favorite Winchesters are back. The mystery was fun and left me guessing until the end. Aunt Tully is always entertaining. I wish Bay would stop being such a whiny brat. She can be such a strong heroine. I do not want her constantly being a needy child. But the rest of the book rocked. Loved getting more Landon time! And Brian getting tortured by Aunt Tully was a great gift. Thanks for another wonderful read.

Still very funny, but kind of annoying

Most of the Wicked Witch of the West are hilarious, wonderful character studies, and a good read. I like the characters and the way they caricature themselves. The stories are compelling,

This one however, I spent most of the book wondering what was wrong with Bay the main character. I don't know why Landon took responsibility 4 her bad behavior, and I don't know why he didn't up and leave.

*Spoilers*
This is one of my top 3 favorite series of all time. While the story line didn't bother me, the typos did. Which is hardly ever an issue with these books. Missing words, wrong words, and a page (on my Kindle app) that used the name Doug instead of Davis at every mention of the Davis is name.
**Note: The following is in no way a shame on the author or the book itself, but my feelings as a discussion of parts of the book**
Bays neediness and insecurities didn't bother me as much as Landon's own shaming over not calling Bay. He was undercover. She knew that. She knew what his job entailed from the get go. Calling her could of put the operation at risk. I don't think Landon needed to grovel about it through the book.
I hope there are many more books to come in this series!

Probably my least favorite of the series. It wasn’t as spooky as they usually are and Bay and Landon’s relationship woes were a little too much for me. But I love the Winchester family and Hemlock Cove. Reading these books feels like a warm hug so naturally I’ll pick up the next one in a few weeks and hope it’s a little cozier and a little spookier

Well this wasn't my favorite of the series. It wasn't bad just not up to the others. I like the break for Bay and Landon but it was a little too much like the first time Landon was undercover. I like the way it seemed to solidify the relationship more. Bay is starting to become very self centered and doesn't seem to notice those around her r their feelings or problems that much.

Unfortunately, the first 10-11 chapters were almost unbearable to read, hence the barely 3 rating. After that, it started to pick up and I mostly enjoyed it...but 10 chapters...yeah, that really killed the rating for me. Sorry.

After more thought, I had to drop it down to a 2. There was too much whining on Bay's part, and then Landon's constant groveling, etc. I'm still sticking with the series, but this one is a complete dud.

Psycho Witches from Mi

These characters have become soooo onerous I can't continue reading. The dumb MC Bay has become this whiney psychotic moron who thinks EVERYTHING is a personal affront to her dignity and emotions!!! Yes EVERYTHING. Lila and the dumb HS bitches, that were introduced in earlier books, are coming across as reasonable compared to this overwrought nonsense/mess!! And I'm barely 25% thru and I can't stand any of the MC's but Tillie.

Pass on this one ...... It's the definition of awful.

Loved it! I read a number of rnegative eviews when this book first came out. I was hesitant to read this one because of them. I did not want the angst and drama. So, I skimmed the first few chapters. I don't think it's abnormal for Bay to react the way she did at the beginning of the story. Once the mystery unfolded (after the initial Bay and Landon drama), the story took off. I liked the mystery. I liked how everyone pulled together. I really like Amanda M Lee's series.

Great book!

This is a most excellent series. The characters are richly created to bring the pages to life. If the books only had Aunt Tilly it would be a grand adventure for the heart and mind. But with the other characters it is magically imaginative. I have truly enjoyed reading all of the books, and eagerly await the next book to come.

Witching You Were Here!

This time the spotlight is on Landon's job. His undercover job, that is. He doesn't know how long it will take, and neither of them are happy at the separation.
Bay always knew it would come up at some point, and thinks she's prepared to handle it.
But when two weeks turn into three, then more without hearing anything from him, (even after an unexpected encounter), Bay goes from sad and weepy to angry and hurt.
Landon has good reasons for keeping silent, but Bay doesn't know that.
It's a breakdown in communications that may cause a rift in their relationship.
Then there's a murder right on Bay's doorstep, and she is attacked and left unconscious, close to the body.
Now Landon is blaming himself for leaving her alone, even though she asked him to.
In spite of the fact that nothing adds up, the FBI detective on the case is pointing the finger of blame toward Bay. He feels animosity toward Landon for letting a woman interfere with his fast track FBI career path.
Strangely enough, so is the State Trooper who is also investigating the case.
Terry and Landon have been thrown off the case due to both of their relationships with Bay
If that's not enough, Bay's situation has given Bryan, (the owner of the newspaper she works for), the excuse he's been looking for to push her off of the paper.
Things are looking grim, but Bay is far from being alone in this mess.
She has a man who loves and adores her, three cousins who always have each others back, two aunts who aren't about to let anyone mess with their family, and a mom who even Aunt Tillie backs down from sometimes.
Not to mention they are all talented witches.
Then there's Aunt Tillie who is in a class by herself!
The bad guys will be sorry they ever messed with the Winchesters!
Of course, they have to find them first.

The only fault I can find with this story was how unreasonable Bay acted, even knowing Landon was undercover and constantly in danger.
Also, Landon's continuous self blame was overdone. The chronic apologies for not finding time to call her when his cover was in danger was ridiculous. She knew what he did for a living when they started dating.
She was acting like a child, and everyone told her so.
Instead of owning up to her ridiculous behavior, she kept it up, just in a different direction.
The crack in their relationship was more her fault than his by far!
Even though I found that part annoying, it didn't keep me from enjoying the story.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who has a snarky sense of humor, and finds witchy shenanigans entertaining.
Be sure to start with the first book and read them in order.

Murder Most Witchy:Wicked Witches of the Midwest 10
2.5 stars

I was in no rush to read Murder Most Witchy because I find two of the central characters weak and annoying. Anyway, when the opening line is Aunt Tillie saying ‘I need to borrow a shovel’ it means that I will be reading the book. Ahh, Aunt Tillie.

I usually find Bay Winchester is pathetic and Landon a chauvinist pain. He is also an FBI agent and Bay a witch who is also a journalist. And as much as those feeling remain, this story has an interesting premise; one that held my curiosity besides my love of Aunt Tillie. Naturally, she stole the show. But somebody exposing Landon, when working undercover as an FBI agent, makes a beautiful plot.

Bay shows some mettle telling Landon to shut up 🤐 moreover Landon admits he doesn’t know what to do. Things are looking up. Pity, it’s toward the end of the book. I also liked that all the Winchester cousins seem to have developed.

My gripe remains that the central characters Bay and Landon are in a relationship that is too immature and also scary from a domestic abuse position. So, when Bay does not agree with Landon, he speaks of punishing her. I am uncomfortable with that language. Then Landon as a punishment forbids Bay from having marshmallows in her hot chocolate! And yes, they are meant to be adults. I hope young and impressionable people don’t read these books.

Fortunately, there are strong characters in the book like Aunt Tillie. Her one-liners, outrageous lies and ways of saving the family and situation are worth the read. Though on this occasion Aunt Tillie's climatic ending doesn't work because I’m not sure what happened. I get there were lights and ghosts but not how they defeated the enemy. It's a read for Aunt Tillie fans,

Undercover lover..

Landon gets called in for another undercover mission, reluctantly he goes, warning Bay that he won't be able to contact her and that he doesn't know how long it will take.. could be a week, could be a month..

Bay initially copes but as the fourth week looms she's really struggling with the lack of contact.. finally a five minute call from Landon gives her hope but...

Aunt Tillie decides she's had enough of Bay's kvetching and takes her off on a jaunt to a corn maze to look at a plough.. when they arrive Landon, with a grubby beard, is loitering around with a skanky woman, Becky who's hanging off his every word, and a grim and grungy bloke, Doug..

Landon is caught on the hop, Aunt Tillie can't resist having a poke, Bay's in an emotional whirlwind.. when Landon fails to contact her until the operation is over 4 days later.. it's the biggest fight they've ever had and it doesn't look like Landon's about to be forgiven..

When Bay is violently attacked and wakes next to the body of Becky outside the guesthouse the state police and Agent Noah Glenn take over the case but for some reason they're pursuing Bay and now it's time for the Winchesters to forgive, forget and solve it themselves while saving the life of one of the most important family members..

A lot of this book is taken up with the relationship between Bay and Landon. Basically, I think too much of the book is taken up with that. He's gone undercover, can't get in contact with her, she becomes angry about that and comes close to breaking up with him.

She just never seems to realize that when he's on an undercover operation he's in another world and they just can't talk to each other like they normally do.

The murder is when the body of a woman involved in what Landon is looking into turns up dead just outside the guesthouse. Bay is found there unconscious and we have much of the book then taken up with her unjustly being accused of killing the woman.

Even Chief Terry ends up in danger.

Then there's the confrontation seen with Bay, Aunt Tillie and others in the forest doing a spell and the evil guys show up and threaten to kill them. The question is can anyone stop them.

Aunt Tillie is again my favorite character in the book.

I think this is the weakest book in the series and I'm hoping it doesn't mean that the author is running out of fresh ideas.

Tiny Spoilers- Not counting the first couple of books in this series, this is probably my favorite. Great mixture of drama and mystery. Sometimes reading a book where each character is in a perfect relationship gets boring fast. This had the perfect amount of relationship drama without ruining the couple forever. Besides, who doesn’t love a heartsick man intent on getting his love to forgive him? I know I love it.

A good deal of the drama and pain ultimately comes due to the actions everyone’s (except me) favorite selfish witch, Aunt Tillie. If she hadn’t pulled her little stunt at the farmers market, a good deal of the drama and pain Bay and Landon went through wouldn’t have happened. Hell, she risked Landon’s life because she wanted to have a little fun and torture him. It basically blew his cover and broke Bay’s heart. But she still came across as the good guy because she helped put Bays heart back together. Yeah Bay missed her boyfriend while he was undercover but I’m sure if anyone else was in the situation they would whine just the same. I know I would.

A bit of a struggle.

I have enjoyed all of the cheeky installments of this series before this one. Each character has their quirks, some a little more irritating than others, but it was always enjoyable. This book irritated me beyond belief for the first 40%! As a former military spouse, I have dealt with my boyfriend (eventually my husband) going on deployments for anywhere from a week to 8 months. The author handled the main character’s boyfriend’s undercover assignment horribly. It was a ridiculous installment of horrid insecurity and downright stupidity. The FBI agent is quite literally risking his life for his job and the girl back home is having a full on melt down because he hasn’t called?! Seriously? I was 17 when we experienced his first deployment and I can guarantee I handled it better than this late 20 something. I found all of the behavior surrounding this very large portion of the story beyond ridiculous.

Cute

Once again, a super cute series. It is a palette cleanser between “heavy” books. Aunt Tillie and the gang have another mystery to solve.....

This part contains spoilers...
Having said that, I only gave this book 3 stars because while I get the plot, I have a hard time with Bay and her whiney, needy side... especially because she she knew what she was getting into with Landon. I felt like it was a bit immature for her age and the fact that Landon took “the blame” seems unrealistic.

The other thing that was annoying (Keep in mind, I really do like this series!) is that the author used the word “simply” like 68 times in the book. The book isn’t really that long and the word use was very noticeable. I feel like a good editor would have picked up on that. Usually, I try to proof read and highlight words that are overused and go back to them.

Aside from those issues, I did like the rest of the story.
