This book was definitely not what I was expecting. Michelle McKinney Hammond takes people from the Bible and writes story stories about them. Like I said, that's definitely not what I was expecting from He Speaks, I Listen and it took me by surprise.
I did really like it though. I thought it was really creative and interesting. I liked how the writing style of this book was able to showcase a new perspective and remind of reader that God is always with us.

He Speaks, I Listen was an okay read. It wasn't what I was expecting and so I was a bit disappointed.

I wasn't a fan of the retelling of Bible stories at the beginning of each chapter; I get why the author chose to do it, but it's not something I typically like.

All in all, this just wasn't a book for me.

The Lord spoke through this book SO CLEARLY with me! I recommend this to every single person as the Holy Spirit knocks on the door of everyone's hearts. I cannot explain enough the change this book has catalyzed in my spiritual life! I pray that it impacts you in an even greater way.

Not a huge fan of the title, but the content was fabulous.
Each of the chapters has 5 parts: scripture reference, a fictional retelling of the biblical events to set the scene, content that we can relate to, a prayer, and personal reflection. Great for a month of daily devotions.

The author has a way with words and some of her poems spoke right to my heart… but I feel like one should be very careful when writing about peoples feelings, their point of view or things that happened when it is not written in the Bible.

He Speaks, I Listen

Finding God’s Love in Life's Challenges

by Michelle McKinney Hammond

Harvest House Publishers

Religion & Spirituality, Christian

Pub Date 01 Apr 2017

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of He Speaks, I Listen through the publisher and Netgalley:

In the very beginning of Adam's creation he experienced something no other human ever would, it was just him and God.

In this book the author reminds us that God is there when the times are good, but he is also there in our times of trouble.

There are times when we feel pensive that we have a feeling something is about to happen he is there then, just as he is in the times of joy.

We will face challenges just as we will joys, and God is there, never farther than a prayer away.

In life there are times when situations and/or losses will leave us feeling broken.

I give He Speaks, I Listen five out of five stars.

Happy Reading.
