I'm an adult, but am not into books with tons or crude language or graphic sexual content, so I've been exploring more of the YA genre. I just finished the entire series and liked it overall. There were some grammatical errors, but nothing too distracting. I felt like the author did a great job of building the world of Inner and Outer Haven. It was easy to visualize and understand, which gave more time for the readers to focus on the characters. The story can seem a little slow at times in the first couple of books, but stick to the end and you'll appreciate how it comes together. There are 10 books in all, which at first glance I thought was a bit much, but it allowed the world to develop, which I enjoyed. There were a couple of characters that I wished had more development and some possible plot outcomes that I wished would have been explored more, but overall the series was really good. If you are into SciFi, futuristic/YA novels, you'll enjoy the series.

Age Rating for Overall Series: 14-15+
Violence: Violence and death is nearly constant throughout the series, which is the biggest reason I suggest the age rating. The violence ranges from bombings, explosions, gun battles, knife fights, etc. and talks of severed limbs, details of killing, being covered in blood, etc.
Language: J.C. is used several times within the first couple of books, but not as the series goes on. Other uses, especially under stress, included some form of: d---, g--d---, b---- (once) a--, bast---(s), s---, bulls---, hell, pissed
Sexual Content: kissing and hugging occur, but not in great detail. Two characters sleep together (non-sexual) on a few occasions to cope with perils. Character kisses another character, notes that hands slid up her side, but otherwise no graphic detail and does not lead to sex
Drugs, Drinking, Smoking: several characters drink whiskey and wine on occasion both to cope and for recreational use, including the main character (18). An adult character smokes several cigarettes a day

Kept me reading. Fast read, I didn’t realize this wasn’t the end of the series. More in the next book.
