Returning to his hometown with his wife and son, FBI hero Pete Ketter becomes caught up in a bizarre murder case that pits him against a psychopathic killer
David Wiltse was born in 1940 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska and currently lives in a small town in Connecticut. He has written plays for stage, screen and television and won a Drama Desk award for most promising playwright for Suggs (first produced at Lincoln Center in 1972). Always popular with Bookhaunts readers, his novels include the John Becker Novels and Billy Tree/Falls City Novels.
This is so much more than the blurb above would have you believe. It starts off as one thing and becomes far more than a mystery/thriller, although that's at the heart of it. A complex. multi-layered tale with interesting, fleshed-out characters and beautiful prose that becomes apparent after a few chapters. I've enjoyed several of Wiltse's other books, but this one stood out and might be my favourite. Had to order it via inter-library loan, but I think I may now have to buy it to add to my collection of keepers.
