A book series that uses text from popular public literature while putting their own spin on cartoonish-like illustrations that cater to children. Furthermore each book is made in a children's format that is easy-to-hold and for reading thus they will make for a great start to any fairytale collection.

This is a retelling of the version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The book starts off with a rather new take on the reason she was named Snow White although it isn't too far off from the original in that regard. The rest of the book more or less follows any of the Snow versions that people are similar to although it sticks with the original one with a progression of means to get rid of this princess although removing the comb episode. And as with other books in the series it has been cleaned up thus doesn't end on the note of the stepmother wicked queen getting her comeuppance.

The illustrations in this version are a bit on the interesting side. As can be seen in the case of the mermaids in the series' Peter Pan, the same mindset was followed for the dwarves. With the exception of the first and last one (perhaps a nod to Disney), all the dwarfs basically mimic each other in appearance as well as garb, which strangely makes them look like Santa's little helper instead of the correct beings they are. At the same time Snow appears to be a much younger character to fit the tender age of her in the stories yet at the end she appears to actually be a young woman in appearance or so who would be of marriageable age. Yet another weird aspect is that Shogo chose not to change the appearance of the wicked queen but keep her the same, which would have been a red sign at least to me when she played you dirty the first time.

All in all it is a very good version to start your little one on the story of Snow White, especially if you do seem to favor the much older original version, since of its cleaned up nature and quick telling.

What's up with it always being the evil stepmother I have yet to read a book evil stepfather.

Snow White's mother dies and person her Dad remarries is evil witch and her stepmother.

I don't actually remember this one that well and I definitely do not remember there being a ribbon before there was a poison apple. I also remember the dwarfs having names and not looking all like miniature Santas but one.

Snow White ended up with the Prince in the end and marrying him. I kind of felt bad for her dad cause he never knew what happened to her.
