"Engaging images accompany information about Pokâemon. The combination of high-interest subject matter and narrative text is intended for students in grades 3 through 8"--
This book has a lot of interesting facts about the history of Pokemon. I read this book with my 3rd grade and 6th grade sons, and they were not only interested, but chimed in with additional facts as well. Students likely have a lot of prior knowledge to connect to this book but I think they will learn some new things as well. The book is arranged in easy-to-follow sections and includes a "By the Numbers" and "Timeline" section to break it up a bit. A glossary helps with unfamiliar words and there is also an index, so students can get familiar with those nonfiction text features.
I put this and a few other "Brands We Know" books on the shelf at the same time this year and I couldn't keep them in. The students LOVED them!
It was very helpful to see the history of Pokemon and information behind the brand. I thought it was informative. I liked the book a lot. I really hope to read more in this series about other brands I'm interested in so I can learn more about their history as well. Even though Pokemon is more recent, there was still so much to know.
Good for kids or parents to learn a little about the real life history of pokemon(leaves a lot out since it's a kids book but still would be useful for a good starting point).
