In rebellion to the social implications of her inheritance, Rosanna falls in love with a complete stranger whom is the epitome of everything she is forbidden from. Whether or not this stranger is her soulmate is without question.
In love she finds freedom, but as Rosanna is about to find out, love is never so straight forward...

The front cover of this novel is a copy of the 1815 painting, The Monarch of the Glen, by Sir Edwin Landseer. To me, this artwork represents nostalgia, a key theme in this novel. I chose this image to symbolise this novel as it reminds me of my childhood and the enchanted memories that I experienced during this time.

When originally drafting the narrative for this story I wanted to explore the idea of home and how it can seem like sanctuary, no matter where on earth it is, near or far.
In evolution, this novel began to embrace a storyline which explored the concept of true love and the fantasised image of the soulmate.

The story is set in a somewhat dramatised, and at times fantasy based 1912. The theme of love and loss, at the heart of this story, however is timeless.

The structure of this story follows the intricate web of a household of a collection of varied people, and the ways in which their lives provide reflections for the same journey that the protagonist is undertaking. The result is a bloodbath of scandal, lies and secrets.

I am so relieved to have finally completed a published realisation of my experiences, feelings and thoughts.

"Through my art, I am eternal."

Kyle Lipthorpe's first novel is a passionate, enthralling journey through time. His writing is both vivid and moving. Highly recommend!
