This book was packed with all the information you can ever dream about having on carbs, exercise, and sweet potatoes. The recipes and the nutritional information was really well written and the benefits of the diet were presented nicely. Even the exercises that go along with the information and the recipes make sense and are explained in detail.

This is not a starve yourself to get thin diet, it is a diet that seems to be healthy enough for anyone to try.

Some of the recipe directions have ingredients mentioned that aren't actually listed in the ingredients section? That's confusing. And the actual recipes are overly simple for anyone who already eats sweet potatoes in their regular life. The thesis behind this "diet" and the structure/information provided prior to reaching the actual recipe section is worthy of two stars, but it definitely falls apart once you start perusing the suggested menu options.

I read through the book in its entirety and gave the program a try for a month. While I love the concept and the introduction to carb cycling, it's lacking in some fairly glaring ways.

The biggest issues? Several of the recipes are just plain wrong (ie chocolate chip cookies with no chocolate chips in them), there are zero recipes for your no carb days, and the measuring options for the recipes don't match up with the processes shared in the book.

As an example: proteins are considered the palm of your hand. Great! My palm is different than yours. So then how do I calculate a recipe, and how were the recipes calculated as being 1 or 2 servings of protein? How do I calculate this myself with my own recipes?

It's a bit of a mess in the execution (I give specific details in my blog review - see link below), but the concept is lovely for someone new to carb cycling. As well, I lost weight quickly and almost effortlessly when followed the diet as best I could.

I read this book mainly for information on carb-cycling and the Sweet Potato recipes. I got that so I am satisfied, but at the same time, I'm surprised at how poorly written this is.

The writing is redundant, the jokes are cringy (he actually went for a "drop it like its hot" reference in a food smh). Way too many "haha" and "lol" ...this not a text message or cheesy website article. The book is beautiful-- great use of color, tasty looking food photographs, and it's organized-- so I don't understand why he felt the need to go so crazy with the lame jokes.
I don't like how he has to dedicate a full paragraph about what he's going to tell me right before telling me...just tell me. The paragraph itself is fluffy--most of the sentences are saying the same thing.

I also disagree with parts of the program. 5 meals a day? Cmon. He also acts like intermittent fasting isn't a thing, too. And I don't believe in cheat meals. If you need to cheat, that suggests there's something wrong with the plan.

But I'm looking forward to trying the recipes and I'm going to try my own carb-cycling approach, now that I know how it works.

I absolutely love sweet potatoes so this diet was perfect for me. Moreover, the recipes were especially creative and yummy.
