Fandom: Harry Potter Relationship: Harry Potter/Bellatrix Lestrange -------------------------------------------------- Post-OOTP. The episode in the DOM has left Harry a changed boy. He returns to the Dursley's to prepare for his inevitable confrontation with Voldemort, but his stay there is very short-lived. He finds himself in the care of people who he has no choice but to cooperate with and they give him a startling revelation: Harry must travel back to the 1970's to save the wizarding world.
I don't like the disconnect between the characters attitude and actions. He seems to be fighting for independence and power while simultaneously submitting completely to the will of his kidnappers. His plans consist of going back in time and relying on people he previously stated he didn't trust. Maybe this gets better when you push past the intro, I'll drop it here for now.
I read further and it's a big Nope for me. He let's people walk all over him 'for his own good' even for the most minor of things. He goes back in time and shows his entire lifetime of memories to Dumbledore, the guy that previously failed him. He then submits to the whims of Dumbledore. Harry literally begging to be given a little time to prepare himself to meet his family for the first time and being immediately denied was my dropping point. A submissive character completely lacking agency is one the things I hate reading about. The fact that the main character is apparently 'completely ruthless if provoked [by his clear-cut enemies] but were rather placid [otherwise]' changes nothing for me.
