Moonchuckle Bay … Movies … Monsters … Magic! SHE STEALS SOME COOKIES ... ALONG WITH HIS HEART! The Supernatural Oversight Council’s top-secret security system has been hacked, the director is determined to fix it because lives are at stake. But when the beautiful cybersecurity expert that he hires is hit on the head and sustains amnesia, he feels duty bound to take care of her. Sugar Monroe doesn’t work like any hacker he’s known, but she seems to have a knack for fixing problems. When he realizes the office isn’t the real target and Sugar is not what she seems, will he be able to handle the truth? Can a historian create a future with a woman who has no past?
I’m an author who had a somewhat unorthodox upbringing. I was raised in South America and the Middle East, and wrote my first stories as a teenager in Kuwait, where my sister and I proved it really is hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk. I wrote my first novel in three months on a typewriter when I was 21, I used every romance cliché possible (including amnesia — need I say more?), and never rewrote anything, which is why it’s so much fun to pull it out occasionally when I need a good laugh. I wrote sporadically until my youngest child (who is now 18) was two, when I decided it was time to either actually start writing, or to stop saying I was a writer. So I took a class and started doing the scary things that writing requires. Now I’ve written about twelve novels and several children’s books.
As a series in whole: I'm had a hard time getting past Ms. Horrocks's blatant rip off of another author's town concept. The similarities are much too close to be a coincidence. However; that point aside, the story was cute, fun and well done. My only other complaint with the series as a whole, mainly being that the same shops are described over and over even if they don't really play any part in the story. It got old after about the third book. I was left wanting her to only bring up a location if the character was going to go there. Not a shop by shop naming as they walked down the street, but they never went to 90% of the places mentioned. (these issues do not affect the rating I give the books).
With this story: I really wasn't thrilled by this story. It seemed forced and unnatural. The main female lead was hard to connect with, and the love story seemed forced. I don't know if it was the amnesia or that she just seemed shallow and 2 dimensional. The conflict wasn't realistic and you could see the next step of the villain chapters ahead of when it happened. To this point in the series, this is my least favorite book.
A werewolf historian and a mysterious cookie baking hacker. Who knew that they would make a perfect match?
I love the Moonchuckle Bay series! There's magic, suspense, romance, and intriguing characters that make me want to enter their world over and over again. Every book I read introduces me to new characters and paranormals that I want to know more about.
The main character in this story, Walter, was first introduced in The Firefighter Finds His Flame. You don't need to read that book first, but it would help.
Content: clean (some kissing, some kidnapping and duplicitous behavior)
Egregious breach of medical ethics. Very near the beginning of the book a medical situation arises. A stranger asks the attending physician about the patient. Without any knowledge of who stranger is or if they have any right to know, the doctor reveals information about the patient. As a medical professional, I am incensed. The doctor should be put on probation for such a breach of patient confidentiality. I could not continue reading. I was that angry.
Lydia Hamilton is going to Moonchuckle Bay to interview as a cook for a restaurant Elvis is opening instead she gets kidnapped. She escapes and falls out of the van bumping her head causing amnesia. Dr Walter Clemmons thinks she is the ethical hacker because she has a purse with her card. They are trying to protect an egg that could be stolen. Intrigue, romance, and betrayal. Great story. Recommend.
This was a well written piece though some of it I felt was a bit much.
I wasn't entirely convinced by the Crocodile shifters. The beginning of the story seemed a little saccharine but once the plot got moving it was quite good. I love Moonchuckle Bay and the characters are slowly growing on me.
Hero: Walter -- Heroine: Lydia/Sugar Reading Enjoyment:4.5* I enjoyed this delightful story that has magic, suspense, romance, and intriguing characters. Although this one can be read as stand alone I love how the other characters are mentioned or are sub characters it makes me wish Moonchuckle Bay and the "people" are real.
A very fun easy clean read. Set in a paranormal town full of witches, vampires, werewolves and more. It's short but I totally got into the story and had to keep reading to see how it would end. It's part of a series. But it could be read on its own.
I pretty much inhaled the stories about Moonchuckle Bay. They're sweet, clean delightful stories and I sincerely hope that there are more to come. Good characters you can love, baddies you want to see taken down and lovely happily ever afters.
I love the Moonchuckle Bay series, and this one did not disappoint. I was reunited with previous characters, learned a bit more of the backstories, and fell in love all over again.
Actually, once you read the book you will see what a clever title this is for the story. This book was nicely multi-faceted, romantic and fun. I've read several of the books in this series and have enjoyed them all.
Another happy ending quick read from Ms. Horrocks. This one has a different feel to it. The bad guys were badder. The good guys were just as loveable. This is an excellent feel good clean romance series.
Another really cute and fun book to read. Love reading books with magical creatures in it and taking each character and connecting it to the original books and stories.
This was a fun, quick read. I loved the idea of crocodile shifters and good luck kitchen witches. :) Horrocks makes fantasy so lighthearted and charming.
