President Hayes sent a message to U. S. Marshal M D (Shorty) Thompson at old Fort Tularosa, New Mexico Territory. He was to investigate why so many mine owners are turning up dead. Also while he was there, find out why ore samples do not match the ore quality when it gets to U. S. Government Mints in Nevada and California. During his investigation, while riding down Burns Gulch, Shorty is shot in the head and is in a coma for well over a month. When he comes to, he has no memory of who he is or why he is there.

A PLT. New Mexico/Arizona Territory/California Western Action Adventure (SOTBR) (OWNB - 2)

PLT. has penned a New Mexico/Arizona Territory/California western action adventure titled "Silver of the Black Range" which begins with President Hayes asking ST. to find out why so many mine owners are being killed. Enroute to the location ST. And Buffalo engage in a running fight with Apace Indians. The head outlaw has flown the coop. He goes to San Francisco to meet with his co-hearts in crime. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Lots of blood. A story written many times and ways. A true Thompson book. Just a little different setting. Easy reading. Can pick up and not worry what happened . 3 star

I really did enjoy the surprise ending in this one. I am not reading anything in any order with Shorty, but I have not been disappointed yet. LOL I will say if anyone really enjoyed Lamoure, they will also enjoy Paul's writing. It is a lot more bloody, but the plots are very good.

Corrupt officials

This book is entertaining, funny and serious. Adds history and fiction or maybe it's not fiction. Make for good reading from young adult to us old folks.

As always, this Shorty Thompson story matches all of the other novel with fast guns, horses and endearing excitement. I continue to enjoy the many twist and turns that Marshal Thompson faces throughout his many different exciting escapades.

Story really deserves more than the five star limit and this story had a different storyline than most of the previous novels had. Too, this book left an opening for a follow up story, and I hope to find that episode in the not too distant future.

As always, I definitely recommend this novel to all of you that like the old western shootem up excitement from cover to cover. There was enough romancing to keep the storyline interesting, also.

Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy another great westn by an exceptionally talented author, Mr. Paul L. Thompson. I am yet to find a non interesting book by this author. Do yourself a favor and get hooked on Mr. Thompson's exciting novels.

ON THE TRAIL TO CALIFORNIA

It doesn't pay to go around stealing, hustling people out of their hard earned assets. Killing entire families, stealing mine claims, down grading ore samples or replacing silver with plain stone.
Buffalo's wife Kathleen is back shoot by raiders who are setting women for their own pleasures. It's a hot mess, and Shorty Thompson, U S Marshal is on their trails which takes them to San Francisco, California to break the back of these hustlers, embezzling bunch of Jay hawks.
Fast moving western actions and our fast drawing Shorty Thompson on their trails.

Good read.

PLT does a good job of transitioning from one case to another. Also, does not involve so many characters, that it's hard to keep track o them. If you want easy reading, follow this author.
